DK was by far the youngest major cast member in Arthur alongside older, veteran musical theater actors. He quickly earned their respect. I can't remember if the guide said but his initial run in 2019 was so successful they asked him to reprise in 2021.
Seungkwan being your boy...i felt that. He quickly became my ult, not just in SvT but in all of kpop. And everytime i hear his vocals on a softer song i literally get chills. His vocals are just as stable and amazing live as well.

Seungkwan is also the one whose voice instantly caught my attention when i heard it first and probably the only male singer who is able to bring tears in my eyes. He is just such a precious little guy
From what i remember ...Seungkwans school teacher sent footage of him singing to Pledis as they were recruiting at the time. He is actually from the Island of Jeju, a bit of a backwater, so never expected any opportunity to become a singer. Pledis got lucky, Seungkwan got lucky, and I think its fair to say we all got lucky as a result. I could listen to him sing the phone book his voice is amazing. He has had a rough time this year as his very close friend Moonbin [of Astro] died, he had to drop out from work for months to grieve, so we are all rooting for him atm, it hit him very hard.

Something with Joshua which I think doesn't get apreaciated enough is that because he was born in LA it meant he didn't know Korean. His mum was korean so he went to a Korean church and heard the odd word here and there but it wasn't till he was 18 that he really spoke it. I think because he looks korean and his mum knows korean it's assumed he spoke it growing up but in a recent interview Hoshi talked about how much he admired Shua cause he came to Korea not knowing any korean but worked really hard to overcome that and learn korean. Something I've also noticed is that to this day he still shys a way from reading or writing korean which I think is cause he still lacks confidence in it but doesn't want to be misunderstood.
I have to say, Seungkwan has become my favorite male vocalist of all time. Of any nationality. His technical ability, coupled with the emotional power he puts into his singing is almost peerless. Oh, Joshua and Jeonghan have been referred to as the evil twins, because of their tendency to cheat and their similar looks.

Seventeen are 3rd gen! Although it's easy to be confused, seeing as they are one of, if not the only remaining 3rd gen boy group still active alongside the current 4th/5th gen groups

Funfact: Seungkwan and Jeonghan are two of the members that moved in together (Wonwoo and Mingyu live together as well) even after SVT moved out and stopped living together.
But you're right their methods of playing games (unless it's sports) do not align 😭 Seungkwan is quickly annoyed and wants to win while Jeonghan is too relaxed and there to have fun even if he has to sabotage the game.
Thats why svt is the best. From having a great vocalist to performance and hip hop team. Total package.
I know it seems like alot, but I find learning these 13 members is easier than other groups. I think because for me, there is so much of a difference between the 13, that it is easy to tell them apart.

49:38 svt are considered as 3rd gen! and vocally speaking dk got one of the fullest voices in kpop (my personal fav) but vocal wise seungkwan have more control over all^^ especially in his belting (one of the best and healthier belter in all kpop) also against both jongho and seungmin: dk is more experience in general so it’s kinda unfair to put them against him (they’re both VERY good but considering dk is one of the best vocalist in kpop especially in regard of rage and a sunbae to them it’s still kinda unfair).
ps: i’m talking technically since ofc tone wise it’s all about preference

I think they compared DK to Jongho and Seungmin because they thought Seventeen is a 4th gen group like Ateez and Stray Kids and therefore put those three together instead of comparing DK with other 3rd gen vocalists like EXO's vocal line for example, but I totally agree with your comment!

As for incredible vocal lines in Kpop other than Seventeen, there is EXO, BTOB (as you already know), SHINee and NCT as well, especially Jonghyun, Taeil, Doyoung and Xiaojun! I also think that Monsta X, Kihyun in particular, has great singers as well!

A note on the svt introverts thing-- Hoshi is a classic introvert IMO. We as fans see a skewed version of him bc we always see him around Seventeen. Seventeen are his family, his people. He's known them since childhood. He's comfortable with them, which means he's more openly himself. So we almost always see this loud, open person, because he's with people he knows well and trusts. But when he's with people he doesn't know, he closes up. He gets quiet. He's not the loud goofy tiger boi, he's uncomfortable and awkward. Hoshi and DK are both like this, as are a lot of the svt introverts to a lesser extent!

Seungkwan (my bias) was in The Devil's Plan on Netflix. It was like one of those mystery games where a group of ppl have to solve puzzles to stay in the game. You could see a lot of his personality. He was the sweetest, cutest thing. 💗

1:19:00 there's a reason why ot13 is a genuine bias and its this conversation as to how do you choose.
For light sticks, version 2 is the prettiest one of them all (but i love version 1 too). Sadly, the company made it so now it won't connect to the bluetooth concerts. Only version 3 will connect. Most fans hate version 3 😅with some fans fully customizing it. So i would say get 2 for the cuteness or get 3 if you ever plan to see them in concert 😅😊. SVT Is middle of 3rd gen. They are actually part of the top 3 of the generation, aka EBS (EXO, BTS, and Seventeen 😊)
I know you are all busy but when you get a chance in the future i would recommend checking out TVXQ killing voice. There is only 2 members currently (used to be 5 but the rest sued SM in 2009 and left) and they debuted in 2003 at a Brittany Spears and Boa showcase. Changmin's vocals are out of this world. Also, they started 2nd generation and just celebrated their 20th anniversary.

all of seventeen are so nice and genuine. one of my favorite clips of them is hoshi talking about them being to school and how he admired dk's shoes, but they were expensive and he couldnt afford them. so he asked dk if he could wear his shoes just once to school, and dk very happily and without any doubt said of course. many years later coming to the present, young members of a mew group talking about how hoshi has been buying expensive shoes for them to make sure they can use them to dance properly.
1:18:57 about biases in Seventeen... It's always going to be tough. Even after years in this fandom (from 2019 ) its still difficult to have just 1 bias because they all so great. But my ult bias is DK and Wonwoo as i have already mentioned in one of my previous long comment. It's completely ok and more than appreciated if you have multiple biases, because these boys deserve all the love they get ❤

Same thing goes for the Hoshi hamster thing... He's already made it VERY CLEAR, so many times over the years, that it really bothers & hurts him (stemming from worries about his looks when he was younger, and the constant comparison of his cheeks to a hamster's), yet for some reason, a lot of "fans" still don't show him enough respect or care to just stop doing it. Even though he is always good-natured about it, it really is seriously mean and just not a very nice thing to do, especially when you know you could really be hurting someone's feelings by unsuccessfully trying to be "funny" by calling other people names. 😥😥😥

Just to clarify your question about what Gen they are, they are 3rd gen (2012-2017) as they debuted in 2015 and I love DK's vocals he's definitely in the top vocals in kpop for me and it's completely up to preferences but there are many groups who came after that also have incredible vocals.
As a DK biased carat (and Wonwoo based as well ☺️) i understand where the thought oh he looks mature comes from. He is one handsome and beautiful human. It's kinda funny because he is so hilarious that people often overlook the fact that he is absolutely gorgeous... The first ever Seventeen song i heard was funnily enough was through a fancam of DK for the song - Good To Me ..... And that was life changing. I am DEVOTED to DK because of that. So anyways, that was a bit too much info .. but DK has one of the best, if not THE best vocals , in the entirety of k-pop. Seungkwan ofcourse is whole power house vocalist and i do love him. DK just happes to have a very very special place in my heart.
And as fellow Wonwoo biased carat it is my duty to tell you that 24 Hour Wonwoo fancam exists and you should know about that 😂

It's true and I super agree that Seungkwan is good at communicate when his singing. Example the Nana Tour ep 5 that I've watched apparently there's no subtitle yet when I watch it,I was laughing at the performance of the members and when Seungkwan's time to sing I started crying nonstop because I just felt his emotions that time, especially when you know that his best friend Moonbin died.

I also wanna add that you can pronounce Woozi’s name with the Z sound or with the J sound (Wooji/Uji). But in Korean, it is pronounced as Uji. I think they just made it with Z sound for his English name to make it sound cooler.

Like Seventeen is my Ult group but when Kerry said Suga is her bias and Jin can’t decide I was like hs, Same! Every seventeen video I watch with yous I relate more and more always sing left and right, also shout WET 🙈😂
Personally I’m a multi fan on many Kpop groups and yes jonho from ateez and jk bts and so on have such amazing voices but personally I think DK has one of the best in the entire industry, the clearness, he doesn’t struggle or move or lean down to give it his all to push out to hit those notes he just stands up straight clear and it’s just overall well rounded altogether. He sings with such passion and emotion it’s scary you feel what he sings! It’s the same as you said for Seungkwan about the communication and emotions. Also the crying easily that one clip was not enough honestly DK and Seungkwan and pure emotional boys at it is so gorgeous to see! But they are comedians them two, they are hilarious. DK is known as the sunshine of the group because of how loving caring and pure he is. DK could honestly sing those notes in his sleep honestly with the amount of singing he does it would not surprise me but yet again got to love him for it.
I have both versions 2 and 3 lightsticks but still prefer version 2 version 3 became very Hybe 😂 more simplistic. If it is for display purposes definitely version 2 but if will use in near future then version 3
Seventeen is a very difficult group to have a bias mine always alternates in order with Jeonghan Joshua Jun Wonwoo and woozi but dk always remain top or very highhhhh up

Difficult they all have their time to shine and steal the spotlight so there is never a set order. So don’t get me wrong I LOVE ALL THE MEMBERS there’s none better than the other of course people just have preferences.
As an aside, if you haven't seen the video Woozi uploaded during the NANA tour of him doing pull-ups shirtless, it's worth a watch. *cough* Also he was 26 when he won that producing award. 26. He's a straight up genius and Seventeen is so lucky to have him (and they know it).

From what I’ve seen, most vocal analysis that I’ve seen consider Seungkwan to be the 4th best male vocalist in K-POP (respectively after D.O., Chen, and Baekhyun of EXO) and DK to be the 7th (after Taeil and Doyoung of NCT). From what I’ve heard, his ranking is because although DK can effortlessly hit high notes, he often strains his voice while going into upper registers. His belting voice is also fairly on the weaker side, however he has wonderfully control and can seamlessly transitions to his head voice. He has such a great tone as well that can send shivers down anyone’s spine. I could listen to his voice all day.

I've been a fan of KPOP for a long time but just started to follow Seventeen and NCT closely last year and I just can't deal with all their talent . They are just amazing ❤
1. Woozi comes from Uji it‘s the shortform of what everyone at pledis called him „Uri Jihoon/-ie“ (Our Jihoon) [A/N: which is surprisingly only the second biggest uri inside joke because a male fan yelled Uri Boo at Seungkwan so loudly that it‘s forever in uri hearts lol]
2. Yes Seungkwan likes the way Jeonghan just brings plain chaos into the games as much as I do lol I mean I love hime, but it frustrates the hell out of me! Even tho they are a unit and get along very much, as evident by both of them still dorming together while everyone else split up into living alone (+ Meanie= Mingyu and Wonwoo) They are known as the eternal roommates of the group (even tho they didn‘t room together from the start as Seungkwan roomed with Chan(Dino) a lot in their early days I think.
3. The show Joshua and DK were on is called My alkohol Diary in ghe earlyer days there was no alkohol involved and it was just like an interview with something to eat and Seungkwan was on it(afterwards him and host Youngji released a cover of Juice so watch that right afte please). When alk came on the table Hoshi was on it (also had dance practice afterwards which we have a hilarious video of) and then DK and Josh went on it(which was after BooSeokSoon collabed with Youngji on their comeback song! so that is a must watch too!). I would recommend watching in that order^^
4. 4th gen starts in 2018, Seventeen is late 3rd gen
5. Yes Seventeen has two of the top ten male vocalists of the 3rd generation (and both were on The King of Masked singer + Hoshi). Chen being Nr 1 and Seungkwan about 3rd to 5th place and Dk around 8th place (Chen said Seungkwan is a fellow singer that he respects after seeing his cover of WiFi on the same show he said it on like a few weeks later)
6. YES Seungkwan was on Lee Mujin Service! Please please please react to it, it has so little view compared to the masterpiece that this episode is! It‘s literally my favorite singing video on the internet! His way of captivating his audience is astonishing! (Also 3/4th of the performance unit was on Lee Mujin after him, first Hoshi, then Jun, then Dino)
while jun and jeonghan are my favorite vocalists in svt (tho jun is my favorite period across all music), seokmin and seungkwan i think truly are THE best. chen really is the only other person i can think of that has a more impressive voice than them and even he's complimented seungkwan's vocals before!
Although i prefer light stick ver2, i recommend ver3 to syncing in the concert😂 thank you for reaction🎉

Seventeen is, in fact, 3rd gen. My favorite 4th gen male idol vocalist is probably Keeho from P1Harmony. Different type of singer than DK. Not so much a power belter. Think R&B with a sprinkling of jazz.

Yayyy!!! I’m so happy that you guys have now learned about our thirteen boys and have started your path as baby carats!! I look forward to more of your seventeen reactions! For your next songs I would maybe recommend “Pretty U” which came out in 2016-I think- or you could follow up with Super and do “F*ck My Life”, the second title track of their second latest album. I understand what the title looks like but really it has a nice message and it’s very soothing to listen to when I’m at work (just my personal taste). Once you guys have gotten a good look at their songs and dance practices though (NO RUSH WE CAN WAIT AS LONG AS YOU GUYS CAN ENJOY THE JOURNEY COMFORTABLY) I would recommend starting to watch Going Seventeen, their variety show. You should start with the earliest episodes, Going Seventeen 2017, and then slowly work your way to the latest ones. This way you get a feel for the show and you are very familiar with the members so you can enjoy the chaos lol 😂 Going Seventeen is genuinely one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in my life and it’s just brought me so much joy, I think you guys would love it. I know this was a long comment but I just wanted to thank you for taking time, paying attention, and sincerely loving Seventeen. I’m so tired of seeing reactions just not pay attention at all or pretend to like K-pop just because it gets them views and likes. Finding you guys was like a breath of fresh air and I’m grateful. More comments from me! They're late 3rd Gen. I just watched a video ranking Top 10 boy band vocals. Seungmin from Stray Kids and Jung Ho of ATeez were in there, but our own DK was 4th and Boo (Seungkwan - sorry if that's misspelled) was 1st. To answer your question about DK's vocals: KIHYUN from MONSTA X has very similar vocals to DK in terms of ability, and they came around a year or so after Seventeen!
IMHO Dokyeom and Seungkwan remain two of the best vocalists in Kpop even compared to 4th and 5th gen, especially given that they were trained in the 3rd gen. I think the focus in training new groups is currently dance > vocals which means newer kpop groups just can't hold a candle to these two vocally.
Also-- when comparing groups I think it is important to note that Seungmin was not meant to be the main vocalist of skz, he just got stuck with it when Woojin was booted. I love skz but their focus is rap and their vocalists don't hold a candle to svt's vocalists IMO.
Technically I believe Seungkwan is the stronger vocalist over Dokyeom but they're both so good. Seungkwan historically has been better, but Dokyeom has the more recent musical training, which gives him a boost. Either way, they are both so strong, and I love both of their voices so much.

Btw I'm an Introvert like Hoshi myself... I am loud and annoying and bright and leaderlike but I really am just nervous and stressed inside and wanna go home. Psychology says that introversion vs extroversion is literally ONLY about how we PROCESS the energy we've received from others... if it drains us and we need to recharge, then it's introversion. If it energizes us and being alone is what drains us, then it's extroversion. I feel like at one point everyone mistook jeonghan and Joshua For each other or thought they look alike it part of becoming a carat lol, it's been probably 4 months since I became a carat and when I tell you I struggled I mean it I'm pretty good with names and faces I got them down in 3 day but i struggled sm with hannie and shua like i could tell them apart if their separate but when their together I got so confused and it didn't make it better that their like known for basically being each others first bestie in svt and also them being the same age same height and sometimes same hair color or hair styles, and getting their verses back to back both being vocalists so it was so hard for me but after a week I finally made it lmao fun fact when jeonghan joined pledis joshua was the first to come up to hom and talk and they joined around the same time I believe only a month apart so they became really close they would do everything together and jeonghan said people would think he's Joshua multiple times lol, also a cute fact is once one of them wanted to give up training and leave I think is Joshua and jeonghan said if your leaving I'll leave with you and if you stay ill stay with you it's so cute I LOVE THEM ❤️
I love the v2 lightstick but currently it's out of production. I recently got a second hand v2 from a second hand website tho. The price was similar or a tad bit more than the original price since v2 is so much loved and in demand. I also have the v3, new, but that's cuz I recently went to Follow to Bangkok concert and got it from the concert merch store. Btw v3 only connects in concert venues. Also I got my secondhand v2 after v3. If I had gotten my v2 before v3, I think i would have just carried my v2 to the concert even if it doesnt connect cuz its so prettyyy! But I did have a good time with v3 getting sync in the concert. Me and few other carats nearby me and in other sections did had a bit of sync issue in Day2 of the concert tho idk why. Not sure if thats a normal thing to happen, cuz its my first ever concert ever. We kept trying but it wast syncing. I was with to other carats, one's got synced like 15min before the show started, mine got synced 10min before and the 3rd girls like 2-3 min before. I heard few others also had a bit issue in other sections and one carats v3 disconnected midway apparently. she was telling me later on. But yea i did enjoy a lot. I decorated my v3 with ribbons and whatever was being sold outside concert venue. There were many who covered their v3 with skins or rhinestones. Hehe. Hope you get the lightstick you wish to get and sorry for the longgg comment.

Get the version 2 caratbong but its hard to find and get. The only one that hybe is selling is version 3 and people are boycotting it because they feel like it doesn't fit SVT and Carat as a fandom and feel like with hybe acquiring Pledis, they are streamlining and stripping what makes Seventeen, Seventeen. Version 2 does not have their fandom colors and it would fit other groups who has that aesthetic but not Seventeen. They are Rose quartz and serenity. I found a version 2 from Japan that is from Pledis so I was proud to have a Version 2. We have to wait for Version 4 and see if hybe will listen to the demands and boycott bc a lot of people did not buy those caratbongs even at concerts. They all want version 2 or even version 1 which is still pretty but version 2 is the one to get.
The only other idol who is just as good as DK is at singing besides Seungkwan is Eunkwang from BTOB

Vernon was bullied by other kids because he was mixed and he actually dropped out of middle school when he was accepted as a trainee. It’s very sad that he had to stop his education and couldn’t grow up like everyone else, he actually talks about it in the first performance clip in his section in the hiphop unit song “Trauma”. They all talk about their own struggles and his part is about how he had no friends and had to drop out of 8th grade.
It seems that his younger sister attended an international school, so she didn’t experience the same prejudice. It’s just devastating that their family had to go through that experience and realize their children can’t mingle with the other kids safely bcs society “others” them.

S.coups is the oldest in SVT but the youngest in his family, Woozi is directly in the middle in SVT but is an only child in his own family, and Dino is the Maknae in SVT but the oldest in his family.
It's a really cute dynamic because you get Coups who's a very affectionate and playful oldest member, Woozi who grew up alone being showered with love by having 6 people older than him and 6 people younger than him, and Dino who's a mature maknae and tends to be the emotional backbone for his members.

Is a combination of both of their names, with the (우)지 from Woozi and the 범(주) from Bumzu 💖 Both are the main composers/producers of seventeen and they have their own personal studios under universe factory, Woozi's room (from Woozi) and Prism Filter (from Bumzu).
Bumzu used to be Seventeen's singing teacher when they were trainees but they became close because there wasn't that much of an age difference. He was the one who taught Woozi how to produce professionally. And all of us carats love him so much ❤ He is known as the 14th member.

Fun fact about Jun as you were wondering about his dance background, he is actually the only member of the Performance Unit that didn't have any dance background coming into Pledis. However, he did wushu and kung fu (I'm pretty sure it was specifically those) since he was young, and some of the movements probably transferred over well.

The show with all the Pepsi logos that showed up in jun and Minghao's parts is CYZJ! you can find the episodes on CYZJ subs TH-cam channel. honestly it's a show i recommend all carats watch, i think it was sort of a turning point/growth moment for both of them, but jun especially. there are sides of jun on that show that to this day i haven't seen in any of their contents, you really get to know him through the course of the show ;-;

In English interviews, Woozi even introduces himself as Woozi with Z. Therefore, it is simply the Korean pronunciation of his name.
