You're the best! Great detailed clear instruction, my G Shock GW-6900A was a slightly different disassembly but your fix worked perfectly! Had been broken for quite some time. I also got a chance to give it a deep cleaning. Your video is still helping people today! Thanks.
I'm about to embark on replacing light button on gw 2310. I'm hoping the light button is easy to replace. That too was stuck in the on position but not so much that it prevents other functions from working just the dual tune function. Pulling the pin out prevents that. I think the spring that keeps the pin out has broken. Investigations to start soon
Worked for me. I couldn't find the sealing ring though. I hope I didn't lose it at some point. :/ I have a GR8900A-1,perhaps there was no ring, or it is somehow integrated into the case, or just stuck or something.
Great video but my problem is slightly different, the only button that doesn't function for me is the adjust button. I have a g shock 7710. It is pretty much flat into the bezel. Any suggestions to fix this?
I got a protrek with an unresponsive button and unfortunately the button assembly itself (inside the watch case) probably has a bent pin so the problem isn't with the spring. I think what happened was that the battery was running low for a while and so I was pressing too hard on the light button to make it light up which bent the pin so now it doesn't protrude as far as it should.
The most common problem with the buttons is that dirt and oils get into the buttons and bind them up, I used to have a expensive Seiko digital and it would do that every 3 or 4 years. I would remove the movement and that allowed me to clean the buttons. That was a metal case and I was looking for tips on how to clean the buttons on my G Shock.
You think it is the same solution if it got under water? I replace my battery a while ago and then I went swimming after that my buttons are no longer working and the screen seem to be different. Hope you can help me
Sorry to hear your Gshock isn't working, sounds like it wasn't sealed properly and it may have water damage, maybe open it up again and have a look. I'm not a watch expert, this is the only watch i have ever fixed :)
hi thanks for the video DW 004 module 1659 side button start stop one in need thanks old watch i google it could not find ::(( any heads up for me?? thanks
Hi @marcioportes have you found the solution for this button-feature-goes-haywire problem anyway? Just asking because my illuminator watch had recently encountered the same problem. The light function hasn't work anymore but the button still press-able for other function. Sound weird right? The mode button functions well, but for the stopwatch mode, the 'split/reset' button had suddenly changed to initial 'light' button. I wonder what triggered the functions to jumble around like that. One day when I pressed the light button, my watch suddenly beeped like crazy for a few seconds, the display went blank for a moment and when it turned on again, everything changed as if the watch resetting itself. I have to adjust all the details (time, date, etc.) all over again. But one thing for sure, the light button didn't work as intended. I realized when I set the alarm and when it beeps, the light flickers with the alarm for 20 seconds or so, and I'm sure it is not the battery issue since the display hasn't gone blurry or the light that flickers from the alarm is still bright. So confusing. And I'm still searching for a solution and answer to why that happened to my casio illuminator.
i changed the battery, reset it by touching ac.. but all back together.. watch works but no respoonse from any of the buttons...?? wtf it worked before battery change

Hey Dan, It sounds like it might be a similar problem, have you tried opening it up and having a look at the contacts?
I got a protrek with an unresponsive button and unfortunately the button assembly itself (inside the watch case) probably has a bent pin so the problem isn't with the spring.
