Thanks for showing how the Mudman comes apart for cleaning. After reassembly and a battery change, I had to clean the brass module contact with a toothpick to make the upper right hand case button work again. It was making contact properly, but something was stopping it. The module also took some gentle pressing all around to go into place. The video was helpful.
I think the reason the watch was so dirty on the inside of the bezel is because the resin was rotting which in turn made the seals weaker letting mud in
I have a G9000BP-1 with a slightly crooked module (half degree counter-clockwise). I will open it up and try to straighten it out. Its a small thing but it drives me CRAZY. Your video shows that disassembly is not that hard. Thanks!
Did you disassemble all the buttons when you cleaned them when you cleaned the dirt out of them? Or did you leave the buttons intact inside the case and cleaned all of them while they were inside the case without disassembling the buttons? You didn't specify that in your video. Please let me know. Were you able to grease the gaskets on all the buttons? If so, how were you able to do that? Were you able to inspect the gaskets inside the button shafts? Please let me know if you did that and how you did it. Also, how were you able to clean and then dry the area underneath the crystal where the plastic cover is attached to the inside of the crystal from the water? Is there a gap/space between the inside of the crystal and the plastic cover that's underneath the crystal? How were you able to clean it and how were you able to dry the water oit of this particular area it? Does that cover that's underneath the crystal come off or pop off or is it permanantly attached to the underneath of the crystal? Please let me know how you cleaned the area between that plate that's underneath the crystal and the crystal? I would like to know. I have the same Casio G9000 G-Shock that I would like to clean up like you cleaned yours and I need to find these things out before I start disassembling and cleaning it. I have never taken apart my G9000 and I want to make sure that I do everything correctly when I do the cleaning. Your advice and help to all of my questions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
Excellent video. I am going to attempt to clean my gulfman g9100 now. Your video was very interesting. Have you ever tried a nato strap on your g shock? They are brilliant straps for g shocks. You would just need a pair of easily sourced adapters.
Hi, want size are the screw drivers you use for the refurbishment, repair and replacement of straps on G shocks? Also is there a set you could recommend? Great work by the way. 👍
Notice that the dirt get inside the rubber and not the hard case where important engine is at. It is still possible for the dirt to get in there and that why Casio keep improving their mud resist construction by releasing the Mudmaster.
@@wooferflextime yeah, they have to keep you buying new models. G-Shock is a tough watch, but still just a plastic watch with buttons that are weak. Buy a Seiko steel, never see issues like this and lasts forever. I get less and less impressed with gshock the more I watch 🙄 these type of videos.
In my case the arm that activates the modefunction got stuck on the little plunger when I put the internals back in. Once I realised that it was a simple fix but I had to assemble the watch like 5 times before I realised it.
Hi, my 3031 module w negative display seems to have a fade/smudge, does not seem like a condensation. Do you happen what could likely be the issue? Opened once to try changing battery, after putting it back, it happened.
I'm not really sure whats that is but normally people refers to it as 'fog'. It tend to appear after watch had been beaten or just got older. You'll see it mostly on the glass of vintage dw002/dw8500 series. You'll need to wipe it off with microfibres cloth. Should be good then.
Hi i am planning to purchase g shock but i am confused between 3 models : dw5600 or g5600e(basically dw5600 with tough solar only) or g9000. Which of these is the toughest...that can take a beating and still survive? I work in extreme environment. I have watched some videos of inside of dw5600 ( basic square g shock) and i see that the module inside has a rubber cushion gel kind of a thing that surrounds entire module, even from the sides and not just bottom. Is this rubber cushion of shock absorber there in all the models mentioned above? Or is it there only for dw5600. I feel i am going to buy a watch of these 3 considering this fact only. Aby suggestion or info on these is highly appreciated.
I am using DW 5600 Tough Solar Model for past 4 years. Good as new. Though my work profile is not extreme as you mentioned, but nonetheless, G-Shocks are manufactured for extreme of the extremes, so you can rely onto whatever suits your needs and budget. Tough Solar will only give you a peace of mind from changing batteries on regular intervals as mentioned in Watch's Instructions Manual. If that isn't an issue, then you can go for Mudman G9000. Not a Tough Solar but provide juice for three years as mentioned in Manual (But owners of this model vouch for insane battery backup going on for up to seven years.) Extra secured for extreme environments. If possible, try to find Mudman G-9300. It's a Tough Solar Mudman with additional functionalities like Compass, Moon Phase and Thermometer. Alas, the watch got discontinued in India as updated version G-9400 called Rangeman eventually showed up in Indian Markets. Best Wishes. And Welcome Aboard to God Tier Watches Category.
what is it with gshock buttons! mines not even a month old gwg1000 and feels a bit dodgy not as much bounce and springiness as othe rbuttons on the watch mudmaster
I own the same model my question is among four buttons one button especially stop/start button while clicking it softly produces tick tick sound ,I mean it works fine but while clicking it produces a clicking sound produced by button (i.e start/stop) so any answers plz anybody. Is it defective ?
I'm guessing the engine might had been dislocated from the original placement. You need to take engine out and place it back again firmly into the hardcase, make sure the button shaft properly touch the metal connector on the inside of the watch when the button is pressed. Goodluck!
I would disassemble them to clean all the dirt. Dry them all thoroughly. Then generously re-apply my own silicone sealant/grease on all of the O-Rings (back and 5 buttons). Usually that would work. These model are mass produce and from my experience, sometimes the sealant weren't properly applied thus condensation. or just simple store it in rice/silica gel, etc; like how people are fixing smartphone with water issue. Moving from hot environment to cold environment will results in condensation though. Thats normal as long as it not too much. Water vapours exist everwhere right. These watches aren't vacuum sealed anyway. Hope this helps.
I usually replace with new seal, they are not expensive. Always lubricate the seal with silicon lubricant to ensure a water-repellent seal. On closing the back plate, ensure that seal stays in place and doesn't get pinched. On tightening screws, do opposites and work around until fully tight - take care not to damage the screw heads with an incorrect screw driver or excessive tightening. Once all screws are "finger tight", then SLOWLY apply additional 1/4 turn if it moves.
Dear Lord...nice job contaminating the inside electronics with filth. Did you at least spray the module out with DeOxit D5 after all that dirty handling?

Mudmaster, rangeman 2018: 100% nothing cant go inside the watch
Mudman 2007: 50% mud resist
New mudman 2011:75% mud resist

After viewing the video I was tempted to take the watch back does it not keep mud out?
Hey there Nice job . Wow ,I thought nothing could get in there inside! What's this all about!
This is to show how this mode was constructed why Casio keep making new and improved models.
Well done. Good job. Do you still have this mudman?
Thank you for the video . I have a G-shock G-9000 and after a couple years the buttons cannot operate anymore .
Well, cleanup is required then, in and out.

Yes it is always hard to use even in brand new.
How long and had you had the watch before that cleaning and what did you use it for? Thinking of getting one
It's said MUD RESIST but why mud can go inside the rubber case?

What happen to seald if u open the back plate? It is still water resistant?
If you clean it up, you should oil it back to keep its water resistant. I didn't demonstrate that in this video. Maybe later in future videos i will.
