Vladimir Pushkin : So it's you... and now you've come to kill me. Robert McCall : Yes. Vladimir Pushkin : Then tell me: what do you gain from my death? Robert McCall : Watching you die. It has its own entertainment value.
what I love is he is just wearing slacks and a shirt. Lets not forget that part. no military gear or clothing.. he can now just go to a café and sip some tea.
The best scene in the movie. Alina, the girl that toppled an evil empire. McCall, the man who did it for her. In the end, he just smiles and nods his head. I'm impressed.
As an electrician, I will tell you that McCall's method here is too complicated. The intent is that the water becomes electrified at the exact moment when the Russian is grounded by holding on to the faucet handle. BUT, the timing can easily go wrong. Further, the fact that the wire sparks when touched by the water means that the water is already grounded, and there is a high likelihood of the circuit breaker tripping or fuse blowing. Additionally, I would doubt that the chandelier is on the same circuit as the obviously non-GFCI bathroom outlet. Also - and yes, I know that it's a movie - a person being shocked cannot scream. Still, despite the lack of realism, it looks and sounds neat on film.
I am a real electrician.. professional for 22 seconds now, unlike the previous post from 8 days ago.. I know that this would work. Why? Because once the water is grounded with 3 inch diameter conduit with copper center and silver plated 2 cm diameter insulation. It flow the 574.21 GB-JM electrical current through the sink. One an ungrounded circuit breaker is installed using a 12 inch electrical circuit breaker with 2 inches of copper insulation plus Ght-232 conduit. It’s game over..
The thing they got PERFECT in the movies to demonstrate what badass Robert McCall is. The scenes when he is walking out and you see what he has ALREADY done is a lot more telling than 15 minute fight scene(s).
Even before that: When the mob boss asks "and now you've come to kill me", and McCall answers matter-of-frankly: "yes" - he turns the light back on, at the 1:30 mark . You see his slightly smiling face, and on its left side, near his left eye, just a bit of a trace of blood that splattered onto his face. You know that it's not HIS blood. And he has yet to bring harm to the mob boss. So you know that there has already been violence in the mob boss' house, and yet McCall is sitting there, calm as can be......
@FilmIsNowEpicScenes I think comments have got too involved. At the end of the day, this scene is a piece of fiction. FICTION. But it does point out ONE important fact, ELECTRICITY, WATER AND THE HUMAN BODY DO NOT MIX!
I liked the movie. Danzel was his usual awesome. The guy playing Nicolai (Marton Csokas) was an excellent bad man. And the fight scenes weren't long, drawn-out, dance contests. But at the end, after leaving a long trail of dead bodies, he ends up back at his favorite diner. (Where he also left a dead body) Only in the movies :)
Wrong. He is reading "Invisible Man" by Ralph Ellison: "Invisible Man is Ralph Ellison's first novel, the only one published during his lifetime. It was published by Random House in 1952, and addresses many of the social and intellectual issues faced by African Americans in the early 20th century, including black nationalism, the relationship between black identity and Marxism, and the reformist racial policies of Booker T. Washington, as well as issues of individuality and personal identity. " - wikipedia
These are exciting films. But I do not get the enormity of the praise hurled at them. They seem to play to the fantasies of every retail worker, can driver or clerk who imagined he could do these things. There is a degree of patronising misogyny running through the plots. Likewise a degree of quite ugly ethnic stereotyping and xenophobia. Huge fun as films... But hardly classics or Oscar material.
I don't see where anyone claimed "The Equalizer" was equivalent to "To Kill A Mockingbird" or "Ben Hur" or such. You get to see a bad guy die and the victim go on with their life. Escapism- that is the best this ever set out to be. Place your expectations there and your disappointment will be diminished.
Aren't almost all movies Walter Mitty fantastes where every lowly retail clerk, driver, or other essential but dead end employee could exhibit super powers, or rescue the fair damsel, or be the hero? Isn't that what escapism is? And aren't all mafia movies featuring Italian or Sicilian actors and Jtalian names stereotyping? Now we have the Russian Mafia, Chinese Triads, Japanese Yakuza, Jewish mafia, French Orgsnized crime, so everyone has their ethic bad guys. Can't be stereotyping when every ethnic group has their own baddies.
It's pretty jarring seeing the Moscow (I'm guessing) skyline and then cutting to the rolling green of the Crane Estate in Ipswich, Massachusetts, which is definitely NOT Moscow. Lol.
I never heard of the Estate, therefore never recognized it from the movie. They filmed in Boston so they must have heard of it and went there. Well, thank you for something I didn't know. I live in Natick, be nice to drive up there to see the property.
@alexgramm5170 I live in ipswich and had my senior prom at the estate. The Crane's were a huge family here. But if you didn't know about it you wouldn't recognize it.
@flitsertheo The Crane Estate is owned and operated by a board of trustees. So the producers most likely had to go before them to ask for (donate a ton of money) permission to use the grounds.
@@christopherjamesboudoir I checked their site and actually you can rent that place for your "special event" . Its more intriguing that we didn't see the battle that ensued just before the boss was done in. Visually more effective that way.
