I think this is one of the greatest Resto/mods ever done on Jay's show. I love the minimalism and shape of the car and how spartan and simple it is. And what a monster it is under the hood. Overkill for sure.
Funny, the 1st gen of the Bronco was made until 1977, and back then, I, my friends, & everyone knew it was special and lamented the fact, that Ford went to an F150 platform for the Bronco in 1978. It was good for what it was in it's own right, but this 1st gen Bronco had the intangible "IT", which makes things cool. The 1st generation Bronco was cool and continues to be cool!
The car industry can't make really good cars because people will just keep them and not buy the next one. Should really be rolling chassis/engine makers, and exterior designers seperate businesses.

We had about 8 Peterbilt tractors and pulled FedEx double trailers every night to the long-haul terminals about 150 miles away. She was as good or better than any other driver in the yard. Seeing her pick up the tongue of a 1,200lb dolly used to connect a set of doubles, and then run that thing across the terminal yard like shopping cart, shut up a lot of young drivers. Nobody messed with the boss! She wasn't pushy about her skills; she just managed her responsibilities like most other successful managers would. She just happened to be a very skilled woman, coincidently. You can't tell by looking...
I literally wept when he started it. I will never be able to afford something like this but I am overwhelmed by the joy of knowing that it's out there! 🥰

That would be amazing. I really miss Craig's late late show, we need more genuine people who speak from the heart. It's what makes this channel so great too, that Jay isnt just presenting but genuinely loves these vehicles and wants others to be able to appreciate them also.

Yup. Never even needed a key in the old days. Just bring your own ignition switch with your own key. Unplug the original, plug yours in and drive away.
I found my 74 Bronco sittin in one of the last remaining apricot orchards here in San Jose, Calif, and I bought it from my Mother's high school boyfriend whom she hadn't seen since 1967....it needs a paint job, but other than that it's a beast...347 stroker, truck 4spd, locked Ford 9" rear posi Dana 44 up front, Atlas transfer case...and once I told him who my Mom is, he sold it to me for $4000....not even kidding a little bit 💯🔥✌🏻

Stunning. The paint is perfect, engine perfect. I noticed that Ford built a factory style air box for it. The chrome mirrors, the wheels it's all perfect.
Boy does this bring back memories! But probably not the memories you're thinkin'… There is even a slight chance I may have parked in that very parking space at NBC - I had the good fortune and honor of doing semi-regular voiceovers for the Tonight Show with Jay Leno (mostly character voices, when they would need them, from about 2000 through 2007) and always enjoyed driving to Burbank to do the work in the studio. Occasionally I would have to park in one of those very spaces (although I don't think I parked in 530🙂).
RexCars1 The icons take away the charm of these cars. Having had several of these totally original, I can see why jay would prefer something like this.
Out of all the cars Jay has I would pick this one . Had a 71 when I was in my teens they were cheap then . In my 50s now and could never afford this but everyone has a dream. Absolutely beautiful truck enjoy it Jay !!!!

Notice the guy didn't even respond when Jay asked about the transfer case. Bet it's just a 2 wheel drive now. No stock parts could handle 7 times the original power.
Hankorama either they custom engineered new parts (a real possibility with no budgetary concerns), they modified another much more modern car’s suspension and drive gear to fit the bronco’s body (because that’s what Icon likes to do), or it is as you think it is. Either way, the frame on this bronco is not the one that it left the factory with. Look at Icon’s other builds. They have a youtube channel.

If Jay dumps the clutch and Dana 44 parts come flying out the side, that means they forgot to upgrade the drivetrain:)

I believe you are thinking of the GT350 engine. The GT500 engine doesn't have a crossplane crank. Both engines sound great though.
