I am doing a series of repairs and maintenance on my son's 2007. Adding this to the list. I can see paying a dealer or mechanic to do complicated jobs or jobs that require very specialized tools, but this is NOT one of those jobs! Thanks!

Great video, I think you overfilled your transfer case there, you only ever need between 800 ml to 900 ml, not more. By the time you're done, you should have at least 100 ml of fluid left in that bottle. Thanks for taking the time to make and share the video - very informative. 👍

Hey my friend I hope all is well, I'm so very excited that you have found my channel and i Hope you become a member of the sub family community! The right amount of transfer case Fluid was added to my Transfer Case my friend. It's actually 700ml of Transfer case Fluid that will need to be added to your X3 E83, out of the 1Liter Container. & there will only be 300ml of Transfer case Fluid left in the 1Liter Container. Some of my Transfer Case Fluid spilled out during The Fluid change. I Hope this information helps you. Godbless you my dear friend.

You are quite right, In my comment I was meaning to write 900ml to be added and 100 left in the bottle, but Android auto correct decided to remove the extra zeros. However, when I checked my notes of the time I did the crank case oil change, I noticed that I actually recorded 700 ml there, thank you for the correction. You are spot on, it should be 700ml for the e83 transfer case 😅🙏

I changed the Transfer Case oil when I felt the driveline 'binding' when pulling away. 500 ml. of oil came out. Refilling took 900ml. I topped it up till it overflowed.(Recommended by experience) I used Ravenol Transfer Fluid DTF-1 from Ebay at half the price of the BMW oil. No problems for the last 1000 miles. I will change it again after 12500 miles. Vehicle mileage is 112,000 miles.

Great video, thank you! I'm slowly repairing/servicing my 2004 X3 2.5i; I love it! I'll definitely get on this job. May I ask where you got the hand pump?

You're very welcome my friend. I'm very glad I could help you, thank you for your support. This DIY will definitely help the longevity of your BMW X3 E83. Yes you can purchase the Multi-Use Siphon Pump from a local Wal-Mart, HomeDepot or Lowe's.
      Product Link:
Hyper Tough Multi-Use Siphon Pump www.walmart.com/ip/861807696
The transfer case fluid must be changed at regular intervals in order to keep your vehicle operating properly and to prevent excessive wear and/or damage to the transfer case that could lead to internal damage.

Hi there. I have BMW X3 2005 2.5I. Can I use DURAGEAR 75W-85 SEMI SYNTHETIC GEAR OIL for transfer oil?

    • @HASAWNTUCKER
      @HASAWNTUCKER  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hey my friend! I would definitely advise you to use Shell Transfer Case Fluid - SAE 75W (1 Liter) it will only take 1 liter of fluid for your transfer case. You can get the 1 liter of transfer case fluid off www.partsgeek.com/ or in the link I provided in the description. Your transfer case will last with the right type of fluid. & 75w-90 is for the front & differential. Godbless you

Hey my friend I hope all is well, I'm so very excited that you have found my channel and i Hope you become a member of the sub family community!
      Your feedback is always appreciated.
If you wait too long to have the transfer case serviced, it could make it impossible to shift-and it could completely damage the gearbox. Low or dirty transfer case fluid can affect your transmission's ability to shift gears. It can also result in your car unexpectedly falling out of four-wheel drive. Loud noises while driving - As the transfer case fluid loses its lubricating properties, friction will occur inside.
Regularly replacing transfer case fluid is important for the proper functioning of your 4X4 system. It helps extend the life of the vehicle's drivetrain components and ensures the system operates smoothly, which can improve performance and fuel efficiency.
I recommend changing the transfer case fluid every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. or you can consult your owner's manual for the specific interval for your BMW x3 e83.
Also I appreciate your support, also Keep being an amazing person my friend. & I will be here to assist you every step of the way.

Trick for breaking free stuck or tight bolts is tap the wrench hard with your palm so basically acting like an impact wrench and make sure you're going the right way lol
