  • “Last Post” performed by the Irish Army’s Band of the 2nd Brigade, conducted by Captain John Carpenter.
The Irish Defence Forces’ School of Music is organised as a Corps of the Army and includes the Army No. 1 Band (based in Dublin) and two detached military bands, the Band of the 1st Brigade (based in Cork) and the Band of the 2nd Brigade (based in Athlone).
Recorded at the annual Cavalry Day in September 2015, Curragh Camp, County Kildare, Ireland.

I like the way the acccompiant of drums are incorporated into the performance unlike versions from other countries.

Yes, it is a wonderful arrangement by, I think, Capt. Carpenter the conductor in this instance. The drummer is excellent and can be heard on my other army band videos. Thank you Peter for taking the time to comment.

Karl Martin he was my grandfather I never knew him. That saddens me. My ma his daughter was only 11 when he died. He died of appendix problems. He is still honoured to this day by the Irish army. He has a plaque dedicated to him at clonmel Barricks where he was station'd . serverd his country with pride.

@@wolfdog9311 James, you may find this interview I did with an Irish Army Cavalry veteran of the Congo of interest. Your grandfather was an infantry man but they fought alongside the Cavalry in the Congo th-cam.com/video/NjhlJSaSD38/w-d-xo.html
