My 92 s10 gets 10 mpg and runs super rich, lots of power and runs good besides the above mentioned, I’ve changed everything except egr and o2 sensor which I did check and they’re working
If the control valve is blocked would this lead to a weak idle? My truck has been running way too low when stoped but seems to be okay when driving? Any ideas?
Replacing all of the easy to access sensors fixed my low idle in my 5.0 TBI. MAP sensor seemed to be the one that did it and it's relatively cheap and super easy. Control valve and MAP sensor.
Thank you so much this helped a problem with my truck but I still have anouther problem it idles fine when In park and I can even rev the enigne but when I put in in drive or reverse if I don’t step on the gas it stalls But if I get it to 10 mph I can drive just fine but as soon as I slow down to stop or turn it stalls do you know what it could be? So I've replaced my map sensor, rebuilt the throttle body, replaced the IAC that you replaced in this cid, also did the injectors and fuel filter, new pcv. The vacuum lines are good and the motor has been rebuilt. I honestly don't know why it wants to still stall or have a decent idle until a stop light. It runs great but it doesn't. Didn't know if anyone had any thoughts
I put a new one in the 87 Chevy g20 but it didn’t run correctly, 5.7 liter didn’t seem like it wanted to run correctly. Put old one back in it was ok. Am I doing something wrong? How to reset?
My idle on my truck after taking it to a old mechanics shop was somewhere areound 600 i think where before it would idle around 1500 with a bad throttle gasket
My 94 C1500 had random rpm surges when idling. Replaced fuel filter, a vaccum line, and ran Seafoam through the gas tank in case it was the injectors. Still happens. Was going to clean the MAF until I realized....theres no MAF🤦♂️. Anyone think that cleaning or replacing the IAC will fix it? Its not a huge issue, just annoying that half the time I stop at a red light, someone thinks I'm trying to race
Sounds like a base gasket vacuum leak. Replace the gasket. Common problem. Can also be a vacuum leak elsewhere, but that sounds like a base gasket issue.
I have the same issue on my 90 k1500 tbi idle will be normal then it spikes up after a while it will drop down back to normal..when im at a stop the truck will act like it wants to take off on its own...some people suggested getting a new gasket 4 the tbi carb or check for leaks on the intake manifold itself..i havent got to it yet..any suggestions what may be the problem
I have a issue while driving, after cruising for awhile it’ll get stuck at 150k rpm and I have to put it in Neutral an rev it a couple times before it goes back down.

This was straight to the point and very easy to understand thank you 💯
Dear colleagues; disconnecting the battery before any repair on a sensor is advisable in order to reboot the computers of any car.
Thank you

Would this fix a low idle problem?
What does that dryer vent thing do that attaches underneath the air intake?
it takes some ambient heat from the manifold and directs it into the throttle body to assist in warming up the engine

I think I got this one from Rock Auto.

Cold start something I think

Low idle is a good thing

1 - 1/4
Or and adjustable

Common problem with idle on these trucks is your cap and rotor they tend to crack try replacing those
I replaced a vaccum line and the fuel filter and it smoothed it out but I still get RPM surges, working to fix that now
that engine should idle at 750 rpm not 1200 you need new idle speed sensor.!
I was about to say the same exact thing! I drilled mine out and adjusted it ...helped but still alittle high. 750 is perfect! 1200 is still to high.
The tach is incorrect. It's idling perfectly.
