Why wouldn't he .. a professional athlete given ample time and space for both! Seamus Oliver Campbell would put five of those over before breakfast dropping off a surface more akin to a half-ploughed field.
As a 65 year old Irishman I can say that these 2 tests nearly sent me to the next world! I don't know if my heart can get through the autumn internationals. Great time to be a rugby fan, we are being served up some great rugby at club and international level. My only worry is that the number of games in a season is creeping up, I would rather quality over quantity so I hope this new northern vs southern hemisphere tournament either gets scrubbed or the teams send developing players only.
Then, like me (75), you'll remember that when rugby went professional we were all worried that Ireland would be unable to compete. In the early years our teams were on the receiving end of some serious hammerings from England, France, South Africa, New Zealand and others. Now we're up there with the best. Even when we lose it's by narrow margins. I don't care if we are the best in world or not. The gap between the top 5 is very narrow anyway. But I'm in awe of the achievement of Irish rugby. BTW I had the privilege of being at both games.
I love SA rugby and everything the country stands for in terms of uniting through the game but at the same time I have NEVER seen such bogey TMO decisions coming out of a nation anywhere else.
What an ungracious winner you are. Was going to congratulate Ireland, but not after your scathing remark. It's called humidity (very high in Durban) that makes the turf slippery, especially at speed. No diving, just slipping & sliding. Unlike the cynical foul play on Marx - croc-rolled by 2 of your players that resulted in a fractured tibia. Both your players deserved red cards - no mitigating factors whatsoever. Mostert's leg broken... malicious, cynical foul play yet again. Those serious injuries hindered our stalwarts of the game (didn't cost them the game) but certainly impacted the style of play of the Springboks who were most likely trying to avoid further serious injuries. Unlike your poor sportsmanship, Springboks supporters remained in the stadium to congratulate your team on their win when they did a lap of honour. You could most certainly learn a good many things from them.
All the SA scores came from penalty kicks (some very dubious penalty decisions by the referee). They never really threatened the Irish try line. On the other hand, Ireland showed poise, invention, skill and intelligence in their play, with scores coming from different players in different ways.
And as a rugby fan but still learning the intricacies of how penalties are awarded, the way South Africa plays is very frustrating. We've seen lately very brilliant players who create entertaining games to watch, guys like Kurt Lee Arendse, Mannie Libbok, Edwil van der Merwe, Grant Williams but here it looked like SA reverted to its old boring play.
@Driver2616 equally dubious penalties on both sides kinda cancels them out (see analysis of ref/TMO decisions link below). Yes, Ireland showed poise with 2 players deliberately and illegally croc-rolling SA hooker, Marx - fractured his tibia. Those 2 players should have been red-carded - almost did his ACL again as well (he's only just returned to play since RWC23). Mostert went off with a broken leg... dangerous play. Simply not in the true spirit of the game. Yet other teams call the Springboks dirty players... what a joke! Didn't see any Irish players drenched in blood either. The Boks may be big and powerful, but they use their strength legally (not always in previous decades, but since Rassie & Co are in charge of coaching). Cynical foul play is not OK for any team to execute. th-cam.com/video/yEikIrT9LIk/w-d-xo.html
@@vivb5180 : not disagreeing with you re the indiscipline but Ireland were a constant threat to the SA line and had two definite tries disallowed. Can’t say the same about SA.
