    I feel that mine start in my head. I feel what feels similar to anxiety or fear and then the physical stuff happens. Sometimes it feels like it spreads down my head and neck into my chest as hot..
    And then suddenly it feels like my heart is pushing cold into my arms and hands. Then the sweat adults always dizziness. I've not had one driving but it sounds scary.

      You perfectly described what I've been feeling. I get a weird tingling sensation right before it comes on full force and my body gets covered w/Goosebumps and I tense up. It's the most horrible feeling that I thought I was dying or going crazy.

    I get a feeling of dread before a hot flash. Anyone experience this? If so, how are you handling this?

    • @susanlee8609
      @susanlee8609 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's an awful feeling, I wondered if I'm.dying each time, until I realized after enough times, I wasn't going to. The best thing working for me is as soon as I feel it, to inhale and exhale slowly and deeply, telling myself "this will pass, this will not last", then focus on a pleasing activity, hobby, relaxation audio or comedy for laughter. This took me from one week, my onset of perimenopause, where I was getting them every hour for 5 to 20 minutes until I started the regimen, for one week, I've gone about 5 days with infrequent and short lived attacks. Maybe once or twice a day, for a few seconds, not even a minute. But I have also changed my diet to oily fish, nuts and berries, eggs, lean meat, whole grains and green leafy among other food tips from Eileen's videos and drink more water, so that could play a big part in their reduction. I cut out caffeine because I have anxiety, and soda, even caffeine free, because the carbonation is still there, that may give me reflux that will make me panic thinking something more serious. I may treat myself to a decaf this winter every now and then to warm me up. Herbal teas are helping, too.

      @@susanlee8609 thank you for the tips! I’m still going through this but found out my B12 was low and have felt a lessor effect of hot flashes. I will clean up my eating per your suggestion and see if they diminish further. Thanks so much!!

      @susanlee8609 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elle366 You're very welcome. Glad your flashes are subsiding. I found out my potassium was low and started eating foods rich in that. I just started taking a multivitamin as well as supplements of Vitamin B12 (I remember Eileen saying B12 was very important for something), C and D, zinc for immunity boost, garlic for heart health, evening primrose oil for breast pain and tenderness, ginger for digestive issues, turmeric to reduce inflammation and promote better circulation, (thins blood, reduces chances of clotting, subdues prominent varicose veins) and magnesium (oops, can't remember what Eileen said it was good for, but something important!) These have made such a difference, and didn't take long to start working. Like one week into it! Take care and best wishes.

    I will get tiny pins and needles in my fingers, arm or face. Then I will feel them getting stronger and stronger until I feel I might explode. Then I start to get, hot, hot, and then I feel like I'm on fire. Then my heart is pounding out of my chest and I feel lightheaded. Then I typically have a bad anxiety attack because it scares me so badly. It takes hours before I feel like myself again even after the intensity of symptoms die down. Is this normal?

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Brandy
      Unfortunately, this can happed to some women and is often caused by a sudden surge of adrenaline which can cause all of these symptoms. Herbs such as Maca, Ashwaghanda or Rhodiola or a high strength magnesium can often be of benefit but you do need to take these every day.
      Acupuncture can often be really helpful so worth looking into as well.
      Caffeine, high salt and sugar foods, dehydration and low blood sugar levels can all be contributory factors so make sure that you drink plenty of water, eat little and often and avoid the foods/drinks mentioned above - doing this can often work quite quickly!

    Since I'm in perimenopause I don't experience the typical hot flash but a very uncomfortable tingling feeling of electricity in my whole body, especially in the morning at about 5.30. It lingers till about 8AM and once it subsides I feel exhausted and feel like I need to go back to bed. Some days I feel it all the time, from morning till bedtime, especially the days around my menses.
    Do you have any advice for this? I'm already using progesterone but it doesn't seem to help for this.

      Hi
      If you feel that the medication is not helping you it is important to go back and let your doctor know. Have they tested you for low vitamin B 12, low vitamin D or diabetes as these can all cause tingling too? If not, I would ask them, just to rule them out.

I'll get hot flashes at least every hour, extreme heat, but when I finally fall asleep then slightly wake, I will take a deep breath and the whole body pain will follow with that breath. I describe it as "it only last as long as the air pockets fill my nerve endings" typically seconds but its painful...can this be part of menopause which I am fully menopausal for almost a full year. Appreciate the feedback!! God blessz

It seems to happen when I'm sleep and right before or after the intense hot flash. And this did begin to happen after my hot flashes started. 2 yrs into it now and full meno. I will be checking with my doc just to rule it out. thanks again. take care.

    I thought l was over menopause but just started to get hot flushes again at 63. I have recently had a complete blood check up and had vitamin B12 deficiency. Can this be possible to start getting hot flushes again at my age?

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Janet
      It is very unlikely that getting flushes again after so long without periods is hormonally linked but other health issues can be a factor. Low B12, low vitamin D, overactive thyroid, diabetes and heart problems plus stress/anxiety can all cause flushes and sweats. Hopefully, your doctor checked all of these along with the B12?
      If your B12 is low and you are getting treatment then you may find that this will help and the flushes will ease. In the meantime you may find the sage tablets can help and remember to drink plenty of plain water as dehydration from the flushes can stress the nervous system triggering more flushes!

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Sara
      Palpitations just before a flush often indicates a surge of adrenaline coming for the nervous system. You may find a high strength magnesium, approx 200mg twice a day helpful and also add in the herb Maca.

    • @AvogelCoUk

      Hi V
      This can happen and may be due to subconsciously holding the breath as you flush. You may find learning to do slow, deep breathing and trying to relax as you feel the flush beginning can help. I would also add in some magnesium, approx 200mg twice a day as that can often ease relaxation.

    So I see a lot of what is a hot flush etc but nowhere do I see what happens while it’s happening, for me it happens at the back of my neck in the nape and at the base of my head under my hair (which I cut off due to this) I get dripping wet all of a sudden and then it litrally goes all down my back getting dripping wet litrally dripping! I have to them shower or change! I find I get shakey during as on a sugar high type of feeling! And at that point I have to strip and blast myself infront of the aircon! Until it goes! This can last up to 10 mins but is always after food or drink. I find eating smaller and more often helps this and I have cut down caffeine by switching to caffeine free tea. I don’t drink or smoke anyway so that is good. But I needed to see if this was similar to others experience of symptoms.

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is very difficult to describe how a flush feels as it is different for every woman. Yours does sound quite severe and may be connected to a sudden rush of adrenaline, caused by eating, which then triggers the sweating and shakiness. You could try a herb called Ashwagandha to see if that can help. Good that you have identified this and have found changing certain things can be beneficial.

    Hello Doc, do men experience hot flashes?

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi
      Flushes and sweats can be caused by a number of different things such as anxiety and stress; so in that situation men can get them too. Hormonally, it is unlikely unless they are on hormonal medications which reduce oestrogen due to conditions such as prostate cancer.
