Hands down the best teacher here and I been all over youtube for years. You are playing my kind of music! Thank you so much! More Elvis would be good but I'm happy with what I have here. I understand what you are doing and love those tabs at the top of the page. I can't say enough good about you! Thanks again!
GG I have tell you this is the best on line tutorial I have ever seen - crystal clear - fantastic advice re listening to the song. And everything - I am having a fun time practicing.
Excellent James your lessons am ideal for intermediate player I feel so relaxed going through your lessons and iv done meny of them thanks James Neil England
Excellent tutorial. Thank you very much. Describing Willie's solo work, as playing guitar "sweetly" is so apt. And if seems to me that his singing matches his guitar playing perfectly. Picking up the guitar after 17 years, am hoping to be able to do this one justice - in time!
Wow! Nice… and this is such a great lesson for ear training also…. As one has to Listen to the notes that are in tablature and then play them correctly w’the ‘Feel’ of the song!! Great Lesson, and Thanks…!!
Thanks for showing this. By far the easiest way of learning. So slow and patient. I am now a subscriber to your channel !!! Tabs are easy to understand as well
Just found your channel. I love playing this song, always been a fan of Willie nelson...but I still can't get it to sound like he did. I am pleased that for this lesson you used a classical as Willie did for years...old trigger. I bought one just to get the tone for his songs somewhere near, it's now my go to guitar for acoustic blues as well.
James, this is excellent instruction! This, coupled with the other Blues Eyes CITR video you made, make the pair a fantastic lesson to really do justice to the song. Thank you!
Thank you. I realize I'm late to the dance but I love the way you bore down into the nuts and bolts of this great emotive solo. Same praise for your tutorial of the song. I'd love to know why Willie chose this old Fred Rose song for his epic concept album Red Headed Stranger? Nevertheless, the crossover sucess into pop music of this standard put him on the map. I can hardly wait to explore your library, thanks again hoss.
What you were trying to say just before the 8:30 mark I put this way... Willy Nelson is great because of the way he can emote the simple. If you can pick that up from him, it will instantly bring up your all around musicianship a notch or two.
Great lesson. Straight to the point and very informative. I would love to know what your string clearance is at the 9th (or 12th) fret. I have .070" clearance at the 9th and it still feels too high when trying this piece. Should I persevere or lower the action further?
It's an official beater. Not as rundown as Willie's, but the guy I bought it off had his heart broken and sold it to me for $60 bucks, so it's got a bit of country in it for sure.
Doesn't get any better than this for a guitar lesson. Thank you.
Hands down- The BEST tutorial for this solo on the internet. Well done! I'm now rocking that solo. Thank you SO MUCH!

Superb! Beautifully explained and demonstrated. Very engaging manner!
Straightforward and to the point. Also a good job of pointing out the subtleties of the solo style of Willie. Thanks for the great lesson.
Great lesson video, thanks for posting this video! The tabs definitely helped
thanks for taking the time (and patience) to teach this solo 👍

OUTSTANDING! You are a phenomenal teacher and excellent player… Thank you!
Good job there sir. Watched this last night learning to play this tune. Dedicating it to a buddy that passed away this weekend. Good on you.

He's just a very musical person. Whatever he does it sounds so good.

Two thumbs up
Great lesson, how can I get the tab of this solo. Thanks in advance, Greg😎
I wish you would play on a guitar with fret inlays so I could keep track visually
Ronald Rolle that’s why he has the tablature at the top
Excellent....
Hi! I love your videos! Could you do a video of More than words? By Extreme? I've seen other videos but you are just so good!
Excellent
Maybe I missed it but is there a separate link just for the solo that has a tab you can print out? Thanks
Super thank you.
Thank you so much
'I have a bunch of resources, I never mention them ...'
Made me laugh
Really good.
oh man, thanks for doing this on a proper guitar. Not like some idiot on youtube with a telecaster ..... like i'm doin right now 😂
It's an official beater. Not as rundown as Willie's, but the guy I bought it off had his heart broken and sold it to me for $60 bucks, so it's got a bit of country in it for sure.
do you play with a classic guitar ?
If you had dots on your guitar would make it a lot easier for me to understand as you were teaching.
Is there a spot in the video with just the tabs?
Couldn't u do it the same way with a capo on the second fret playing in d? That makes the same key, as Willie does with out the capo on the guitar.
Nice :D
super se be upper
…Until you know the neck better, one could put their own white dot or lil piece of tape on the neck edge, so as to locate the 9th fret…!!
Is this tuned standard?
darn right
Hy
While I appreciate the lesson, the lack of fret markers is killing me ;-o)
Great lesson but…It would be of enormous help if your guitar had fret markers.
Just a suggestion.
You know... that's not a bad idea.
…You could put a Mark on your guitar 9th fret… and so on, so you can locate where you are on the neck…!! Your own white dot, or a lil piece of tape….
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
