The new buttstock for M249s and M240L and B's is that push button, and rotate stock adjustable stock. that's a change by modification work order so that's the new stock for both as the standard stock and major component. On the M249 you need the additional cheek rest to swap out when using an optic and on the M240, you literally need to remove the cheek rest, exposing the Internals of the stock to get a decent sight picture with irons.
Man, this is good. And yes, Chuck is the Caffeinated spirit of this discussion. I watch the shows on 2x speed, after the fact, and although I simply qualify as a "Just Another Dumbass Civilian", I find myself caring a lot about this.
Re the comment about wearing Nikes on recces; when I was playing JRTC OPFOR in the early 90s, I had some real deal moccasins that I would wear when sneaking and peeking.
Would be interested in what Chuck, Ash, Buck, and the rest think is a viable COTS replacement for thr 249/Mk.46, in the assault configuration. Stoner/KAC LMG, Ultimax, etc.
Misconceptions here about Armor ID training for Javelin/TOW/SMAW gunners in the USMC - as well as the origin of Gunners. The training on Armor ID is detailed and thorough. Dead right about sustainment being important and difficult though - I never saw a unit level Javelin trainer, but that's anecdotal, they might have been there and I just never knew about them. Another thing that is worth correcting is the origin of Gunners in the USMC. They must be an E-7 and have at least 16 years of infantry service to apply to be an 0306 - Infantry Weapons Officer. The Range Officers are a 0930 - completely different animal, but they do sometimes get called "gunner", but technically are not even close, they are WOs/CWOs. The Gunner rank is CWO2-CWO5 and starts at the infantry regiment level, major schools, etc.
What time does the live stream start next week? I own a couple .308 gas guns. A heavily modified Scar 17s and an LWRC REPR. The REPR is fuckin heavy. 15.5 pounds with all the shit on it. Still lighter than the 249 was though.

So handheld 60mm solves the problem then.

Sounds like we need something in between a Bren Gun and a Type 92 lol
