    Thank you to whoever thought this lecture should be available online. Thank you for giving such a clear explanation of the theory. This lecture has re-energised my interest in my studies.

    Very insightful. But I didn't get the difference between what x values and what x has reason to value

    Dr. Amrtyo Sen is very humbly requested not to relocate himself. This will deprive his favorite Shantiniketan of often seeing and relishing him by his presence !

    42:15 This did not age well in 2020... So we should have the freedom to go outside even though it is against public health?

    • @sai123praneet
      @sai123praneet 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The restriction to not go outside definitely had a negative impact on mental health etc. This negative effect was balanced against more important freedoms such as "not contracting COVID", or "stopping COVID". So the approach is still valid.

    I am disappointed to hear the ubiquitous, blithe and toxic false assumption of the one Earth. Our civilization is poised at the brink of outward expansion off world, and entry into the age of post scarcity. Might that have bearing upon capability and what people at all in the know might therefore value as important?

    Useless concept, a tautology. What is new in this jargon. If someone has enough money he can have everything. This is known to a child as well.
    Sen has nothing new to offer, he is just playing with words.

      If a poor illiterate, uneducated 50 year old woman 👵🏽 with a history of poor health - living in an oppressive patriarchal society - suddenly became a $ billionaire - would she have capabilities to flourish?
