I really like what you shared here. I think that 4 and 6 daily hours jobs are the sweet spot, because I feel that 8 hours is a lot of time for a normal day (talking into account sleeping, exercise, eating, cooking, chores)
I feel ya, there's research done that says during an 8-hour course of day, we actually aren't working most of the time - there's lots of time spent on talking with people, getting interrupted and then trying to get back into flow.. Our brain really has the mental capacity to go into deep productive work flow for maybe 3-4 hours max a day! We need more time for rest and play for sure ❤
This resonates so much! I burnt myself out in a role I pursued for passion. I was lucky that it also paid well. I dreamed of it as a career so it became a huge part of my identity. Unfortunately, it was too much work for 1 person to handle. The overwhelming responsibilities of the job but also the pressure I put on myself led me to burnout. I didn't feel like myself and I developed chronic anxiety in 6 months of that role. I quit out of good conscience and took the last year off. I experienced depression during my break... I think my mind and body needed a purge. Now I'm in a much better place. I have recently got back onto my career path. I was cautious to choose a role that didn't involve the same level of responsibility I had previously. Like you, I took a 10% pay cut. I entered into this new role with hypervigilance about my mental health. This is proving to be serving me well - I feel like myself again, like I have good work-life balance, and I'm proud of my work. The sacrifice was hard to accept initially... I felt like I was settling for less. But now I believe that this is a positive step in the right direction. I can clearly feel a huge difference in myself in this role versus the previous. I'm reminding myself of how important the small steps are and prioritizing protecting my inner peace. I will let the rest fall into place - because I believe in myself and my skills - but at my own pace.
Thank you for sharing this, Jvlia! I'm SO happy you're feeling like yourself again 🥹 Your mental health and well-being is so much more precious and priceless than money could afford ❤
Good video. I think you bring up a pretty good point around the 3 minute mark about taking a pay cut for a less stressful job to work on a side hustle or even improving QoL. I am currently unemployed because i got super burnt out from my last job, but I am being very picky on my new job, kind of like picking a new partner lol
Thanks Kameron! 100%. Take your time with being picky.. what's a few months (or a year) of being mindful + purposeful, compared to decades of being stuck and burnt-out in the wrong job/company?
You're right. Starting business is usually not having any income for months. It's why you should to create some buffer before starting a business. But sure, you will get pay off after some time.
thank you so much for being so transparent and for sharing this way of looking at the whole 9-5 vs. own business thing. I'm in a somewhat similar situation where I've learned how a 9-5 (or any employment) does have its perks, while doing your own thing can be a really tough thing. I'm still definitely more the business owner type, but I think appreciating 9-5 jobs/corporate jobs for what they are can make like a lot easier:)
I appreciate this Hannah, so happy you're resonating. If more people can think of it that way - to appreciate a 9-5 for what they are, maybe just a means to an end, we'd all be a lot happier. ❤
It's nice to have someone talk about the same sentiments I faced this year. I've taken a break from my 9 to 5 to figure out my passion. Also tried starting a business also without a stable income. I agree, it is a big risk and bears alot of uncertainties. Through that journey, I learned my lesson and passion. I can't wait what my life unfolds. Hope that it'll be just as holistic as yours! *Fingers cross*
You're definitely not alone on this journey Kyla and so amazing for you to take that courage for a break. Also, I have a free guide on building out your business on top of a job in a holistic way which can help you dive deeper into my concepts in the description box. I'm cheering you on.❤
Thank you Tammi, it took a lot of stressful burn-outs to start seeing the pattern! And we all have our own unique pace and journeys in life.. I'm sure you had accumulated tons of valuable learnings when you understood it! ❤
Cheering for you, Nelly! ❤ I also have a free 21-paged guide resource pinned if you want to dive deeper into my advice with navigating the emotional ups and downs with a business. 🙏
yeah finances not the best right now but i took a risk quitting myjob months ago and i left my job because it was toxic it was a unhealthy environment to be in and my my peace and mental health is important im alot less stress sleep is better and im able to build my business each and everyday with so much happiness my breakthrough coming soon!!
I love this for you!!! so happy you did that for your wellbeing and you’re now able to build your business from a place of emotional stability right now 🥳
I really tired with my 9-5 job and i also searching for another job. I really feel like is it okay for me to do business and quit 9-5 job or just quit 9-5 job and find another 9-5 job. I don’t like the toxic environment bcs it really affects my well being 😢. Hope that i can find job that makes me healthy physically and mentally. Thank you for this video !!
Oh no, I did not go back to the same company. I found a different company with a better culture! But I do believe that at the end of the day, if you want to go back to a company and/or negotiate terms, it's definitely possible to approach the convo from a place of grounded-ness and knowing what you want, being open to flexible options. It's worked for people around me.
So are you basically saying your boyfriend is not that accomplished but he is a great person on the inside? That’s awesome for you but you just told us your boyfriend is not the dream 😢guy you wanted
After I posted this, I rewatched it and realized I should have inserted he is still smart, and ambitious in his own way (thankfully he watches my video and didn't take offense to this)😂😂 damn, this relationship thing is actually a video for another day though lol
Starting a business is unhealthy, it requires radical imbalance for a time. That’s why it’s not for everyone and should only be follow if you are able to stand that for at least 5 years

good reminder about how we spent 1/3 of our life at work... and it is important to FEEL happy while we are at it. Or at least not miserable.

We need more of this videos. There is super negative trend around regular jobs. Is a non sense.

Im so glad OP realize this young that the job isn't your identity. Took me too long to understand that.

Let’s stand on business together!
Hi there, very interesting very informative
Entrepreneurship and starting a new small business is not for everyone, otherwise everyone would do it.
Anton Daniels reviewed this episode, I'm watching this again with my daughter
What was the conversation like to allow the opportunity to go back to the same job you wit from?

good way of thinking 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It’s wild that companies with great culture seem to always be married to taking a pay cut from somewhere toxic
Took me a while to figure this out
So true😫
