I saw your post on Instagram, your videos mean the world to me, they always cheer me up and make my day better, this channel has given me something to look forward to every week and I can never thank you enough for the books I found because of you. I hope you know that all your energy and positivity is reaching places and that you deserve the world for all the effort and love you put into this channel and creating another corner on the internet where we can nerd about books. You are very valued and an awesome human being, don’t let the negativity fool you, what you do here is great
this is SUCH a lovely thing to say, thank you so so much. i am endlessly grateful to all of you who tune in every week and all of your kind words. already feeling much better, so thank you so much again💌🫶🏻
Ellen, honestly please don't try and feel dishearten by some negative nellies. Shy and Silent viewer here for the past 3 months and watching your videos honestly makes my day. Being dyslexic and always struggled to concentrate on what I could read (ADHD) I never thought I'd one day be able to read books and enjoy them. Your book recommendations have helped me massively to find that enjoyment, find a passion for romance and I want to thank you personally for that. Keep being you and thank you for everything! Ive managed to read 16 books this year so far which is far from most peoples current tally but its the most ive ever read in a year to date and I truly believe that is down to you! I'm hoping to start Powerless tomorrow and can't wait ☺💕🦋 xxxx
there will be more books in the crowns of nyaxia series! the author said it would be a total of six books, comprised of three duologies. The third book is The Songbird and the Heart of Stone which is being published on November 19th! It also follows Mische from the first duology. CAN'T WAIT!
I get the qualms people have with powerless but I’m legitimately enjoying myself. Yes, the tropes are overdone and could be better but that’s what makes it such an easy read!! I was in a slump after reading iron flame and attempted reading powerless and FLEW through the book in under 3-4 hours. It’s so easy to follow through and not memorize complex laws of magic/understand intricate worldbuilding (struggled with that in ninth house). I understand why people dont like it but i like it regardless
So I picked up my first fantasy which was Powerless 💜 I loved it!! This is super helpful, fantasy does intimidate me. Thinking maybe One Dark Window could be the next one! x
Absolutely love your recommendations! 🥰 Thank you so much for putting this video together! You should definitely do another one in future if you have more. I have loved multiple that you talked about and so am excited to read the ones you presented that I have not read yet!❤❤❤
I loved bridge kingdom, and honestly feel like they get better the further in you get I loved the books from Keris’s point of view. That first few chapters tho in the first book what a bang of an opener! ❤️
gonna be adding all of the ones i haven’t read to my tbr!! all of the books ive read that you’ve recommended have been hits!! love love acotar and the crown of nyaxia series!! ❤ lovely video as always ellen 🫶🏽
I just bought the first book in the ACOTAR series because of all the good things you always say about it and I am so excited to read! And I really enjoy watching your videos because it gives me motivation to read more! THANK YOU SO MUCHHHHH 💜
I just reead the serpent and the wings of night, sadly not a 4 or 5 star for me, but it was a good read. When it comes to Fantasy I prefer High Fantasy and I love Brandon Sanderson the most. So we don't have the same fantasy taste sadly. But I love your romance recs. Those are usually a banger for me.
I recently read Crimson Moth/Heartless Hunter and it was so good! A Fate Inked in Blood is also a favourite new release this year! Would definitely give those a try if you haven’t read them yet💖
Love the recommendations. I just read The Bridge Kingdom and enjoyed it. I feel like I am so behind in my fantasy books because I want to finish The Mortal Instruments since it is the series that got me back into reading again but hoping to finish The Serpent and the Wings of Night, read Powerless, and finishing Throne of Glass next month. Happy reading!
Just wanted to say i love your videos sm! I love your recommendations and opinions. You have never steered me wrong in picking a new book to read :) please take care and give yourself time for self care
I’ve just finished queen of shadows and am currently taking a break before doing the tandem read. I don’t want to slump out of the series because a lot of people say tower of dawn isn’t as good as the rest of the books, so I’m preparing myself
I am just getting back into reading after 10 plus years of a hiatus. I wanted to try a different genre and chose fantasy romance and ACOTAR was my first ever fantasy read. I have to agree, it was such an easy read and not hard to follow for beginners. However, I am not to inclined to move on to finish the rest of the series as I feel that the whole Tamlin getting the a negative spin and Rhys coming in to save the day was just not what I was expecting.
Ellen the crowns of nyaxia series you can get in the UK now! I have been wanting to read this series for a long time and the first book, with the new cover in paperback, was in waterstones! The bookseller checking me out also said that the next book is coming in July 😊
I definitely agree with ur order for SJM books lol! I read CC first and it was very confusing cause I’d only read HP, PJO, and KOTLC at that point and those are all for middle schoolers😅
I loved the Bridge Kingdom! :) I liked the first two. ❤ You have great taste in books and you've got yourself a new subscriber! Thanks for sharing your favorites.
I always look forward to your videos. Even picked up the ACOTAR series, finally, when I saw you were going to do a re-read on your insta! I appreciate your videos and your happy soul. Always makes me feel happy.
These are such good recommendations. I cannot wait for serpent and the wings of night to come in paperback. Cannot wait for your romance recommendations 💜🩷❤️
I started the first 2 books of the Fortuna Sworn series by KJ Sutton and LOVED it! Didn’t continue because I started reading romance and other things. I have to do a reread so I’m ready for the 6th and final book next year. Anyway, it’s about a nightmare who goes looking for her brother who’s gone missing. The first book has trials. It has great world building, morally grey character, and a mysterious vibe. I love love love it.
Here to add more positivity to your channel. Recently discovered your channel and I absolutely love what you share. Sending love all the way from Adelaide, Australia!
I didn't know you before thsi video but we have the exact same taste in books 🤣 so many amazing books, very interesting ! ✨ Can't wait to see your others videos !
I really want to get into romantasy so brilliant recs. I think my favourite has to be Priory (what a surprise), and on my may tbr is the prequel but I think I may procrastinate it to next month when I have more time to read it 😂
If I can recommend ANY romantasy series it would be Of Night and Blood by Brea Lamb. It's got ACOMAF vibes and she is an indie author! I need more people to discover this series!!!
Absolutely love your videos, I’m sorry for some of the negative comments you have been getting on videos however I absolutely love your videos and love when I get a notification saying you have posted a new video. ❤
I just finished 'A fate inked in blood' by Danielle Jensen and it was a 5 star! A viking fantasy was new to me and very refreshing coz so many can blur together for me after a while. Your memory is great!😂
Finally catching up on your content Ellen but this video was needed. im always looking for more fantasy/romantasy recs and this video helped so much. Luv your channel so much and so nice to see another UK book girlie ❤
hehee it’s so worth it!! i didn’t do the tandem read and still very much enjoyed tower of dawn so if that scares you then you don’t have to do the tandem read!
tog is in my opinion way better than acotar. after wings and ruin I was rather disappointed. tog is just amazing through and through. BUT then I read fourth wing and was very pleased, then I read powerless as filler till onyx storm is published and I must say powerless swiped me of my feet. I don't know what to do with my life after finishing reckless and now I am here.
Have you read the Legend series by Marie Lu? It is a young adult romance. dystopian enemies-to-lover series. It's set in the future, and there's a civil war between "The Republic" and the "Colonies." It's told from both June, the republic's young prodigy, and Day, the republic's most wanted criminal. It's a three-book series, legend, prodigy, and Champion, then there's a fourth spin-off book after the events of the original series. Or I really liked the Warcross Duology by Marie Lue a lot more, about a young adult whois a bounty hunter, and hacks into a popular video game challenge, then hired by the company to find a hacker trying to bring down their multi-million dollar company. It's kind of like the ready player one...
that video was soo usefull i was searching for fantasy romance books for days soo thanks youu ellenn💗💗. I would recommend also Fourth Wing saga by Rebecca Yarros i really really love it I'm obssed ahaha ( ps: i apologise for my bad English but I'm italian😅)
Some I would recommend (Warning: I got lazier and lazier in the summaries): Caraval (Scarlett dragna has been writing to Master legend for 7 years to invite her and her sister to the Caraval, a magical game/competition type thing. Scarlett decides she wants to stay back and marry her betrothed, but they go anyway, in a boat with a man who was seemingly involved with Scarlett's sister, Donatella Dragna. Once they get there, Donatella vanishes. They warn Scarlett that it's all just a game, and that what she sees in the game isn't real. She pretty much has to find Master Legend in order to find her sister. I loved this book, and would probably give it like 4.8/5 stars!) Fourth Wing (20 yr old Violet Sorrengail is forced out of her life as a scribe by her mother, who pretty much forced to into becoming a dragon rider at Basgiath War college. There are trial type things she must go through, which many die from doing. But the real challenge is bonding a dragon. If you make it that far. Quote from the book: "A dragon without their rider is a tragedy. A rider without their dragon is dead." It's high fantasy, enemies to lovers. 4.8 stars imo!) Powerless (U already explained it! I'd give this one 4.8 or 5 stars!) ACOTAR (Again, u already explained it! 4.7 stars) A Study in Drowning (It starts out pretty slow, but it is definitely worth the wait imo. Basically, Effy Sayre is the 17 yr old main character. She wants to study literature but is stuck studying architecture. She takes on a project for designing her favorite poet/author's former home, which now belongs to his son. She believes in fairy tales due to certain memories of her past, but no one knows if the tales are actually true. It has very dark academic and feminist themes. and Abt 4.5 from me!) Six Crimson Cranes (I'm going to copy and paste part of this one from Google: "Sixteen-year-old Shiori’anma (Shiori) Hanriyu is the youngest of seven children of the emperor of Kiata. Shiori resents the societal expectations of being the empire’s only princess, preferring a carefree, rambunctious life and shirking many of her responsibilities. One of these responsibilities is accepting her betrothal to Takkan Bushian, a northern lord’s son, whom she despises simply for existing." Basically magic and sorcery is forbidden in Kiata, so once she creates a paper bird that is conscious, she has to keep her magic a secret. She later finds out something that she should not have, and her stepmother curses and banishes her and her 6 brothers. The majority of the book is them (and her paper bird) trying to end the curse. Oh, and there's dragons and demons, which play a pretty big part in the book. The romance is a subplot in this high fantasy book. 4.6 from me!) Daughter of the Pirate Queen (Basically, Alosa, a 17 yr old captain of her own ship, planned to be kidnapped and brought onto a ship that wasn't her own to find an ancient map for her father bc it leads to treasure. The romance and fantasy start abt half-way through, maybe a little sooner. It's much better than I make it sound, but I'm getting tired lol. 4.8 or 5 stars from me!)

FANTASTIC recommendations! A lot of these books are already in my tbr but you best believe I'll be adding all the rest you mentioned too 🙈💕
I get the qualms people have with powerless but I’m legitimately enjoying myself. Yes, the tropes are overdone and could be better but that’s what makes it such an easy read!!

Some I would recommend (Warning: I got lazier and lazier in the summaries):
Caraval (Scarlett dragna has been writing to Master legend for 7 years to invite her and her sister to the Caraval, a magical game/competition type thing. Scarlett decides she wants to stay back and marry her betrothed, but they go anyway, in a boat with a man who was seemingly involved with Scarlett's sister, Donatella Dragna.
