I wonder how many women die in nursing homes from undiagnosed UTI. Labeled dementia or die of sepsis because of it. I bet if we really knew it would be shocking

Watching in 2024. You described ME!! Culture is NEVER positive but I have every symptom of a UTI. I’m SO sick!
Been dealing with these for 6 years since I went off hormones. 66 years old. I have a GREAT dr who sympathizes with me. I have been on multiple brands of antibiotics and symptoms always return. Tries everything holistic and also hormone cream.
    Thank you for this!

My dad is incomplete paralyzed vet 76 years old shortly here in September 2024. He was paralyzed in 70s. Gained the ability to walk but with serve limp. But he was able to walk. He never could empty his bladder and would constantly get stones and UTIs. Come around 2010 he got into VA system in Vegas who have been excellent, but they just can't figure this uti thing out. He went to Long Beach as part on annual check up in SCI unit. Spinal cord Injury. They scanned his bladder and he was holding over 900 cc of urine. He had gone 4 decades dribbling out urine and never emptying it. They got him on a self cath system which greatly improved his life. Then he got a tumor in heart removed in 2015. That zapped a lot of his energy and he started using a cane and later a scooter. Now fast forward to 2021 and he has his first seizure . It wasnt a full shaking seizure but his eyes rolled back of head and he was confused and couldn't communicate, and mislabeled items like phone glasses, etc. He went to the hospital and they come up with its a uti causing backup to brain causing seizure symptoms. The gets cleared up and he's fine for about a year and they hit again. A little worse. He gets cleaned up again and he's back to normal , sharp as anyone but then they hit in 2023 a pretty bad 1 and has sepsis. He goes into rehab and gets cleaned but really can't get the ability to walk again . The last year he was usually only walking about 5 to 10 feet to get to bathroom and to scooter. So now he gets permanent foley and in April 2024 he gets a colostomy. It has been great cause he can go out without worry of trying to get to a toilet. But now in June he had a bad seizure with full shakes. He was cleaned up again and doing well at home with my mom but just had another bad 9ne and is back in the hospital as of 8-28-24. What can we do? Can we get him on permanent antibiotics? Thanks .

I am so encouraged and excited to see that finally, there’s a doctor taking us seriously! I have been battling infections on and off for 30 years! I’ve been to 4 urologists during this time and every one has eventually told me to read about IC and good luck. I was 4 years infection free and as of November they are back. An infection every month since. I will be following your channel and looking forward to seeing what insights you may offer. Thank you, thank you for your work helping people like me find a permanent resolution and healing from these painful infections!

Thank you Dr B for this channel - I've never been satisfied with the BS diagnosis of "IC" - especially when meds work for a week, things get better, then it comes back...then meds work for another week, things get better, but then it comes back and the "urinalysis tests are normal" so it's all in my mind. Dr B I am thankful for your efforts. My history dates back 44 years when I had my first urology referral. I have almost always had a positive culture with treatment of 7-10 days of antibiotics based on sensitivity. After menopause my symptoms increased as well as frequency. Always positive cultures, usually ESBL ecoli Same treatment, same outcome. I then saw a great infectious disease doc who put me on long term nitrofuantoin. I went a whole year without infection. He retired, I moved and the rest is ugly. 13 infections last year. 90% positive pseudomonas or klebsiella. I would be happy to be interviewed on you tube with you. Currently I am not a patient of yours, but thinking I will call for an appointment.

This was so valuable!!! I was left three weeks without antibiotics due to a negative urinalysis.. I knew I had a UTI. It got so bad I was in the ER. Finally treated with a 10day prescription of antibiotics!! I still have some symptoms.. I will be asking for another 10 days thanks to you!!! And make sure it’s an antibiotic I’m not resistant to!!! Please talk to doctors to believe our symptoms… we can die if it goes to kidneys and sepsis!!!

Male, 35 here. i have been dealing with this horrible condition for the last two years on and off. I have been prescribed different antibiotics like cipro, doxcy and sulfamethoxazole and a few alpha blockers but symptoms disappear and always came back. my urinalysis and all the scans came out negative .some stretching exercises and hot bath helped me along the way. I'm still looking for a miracle cure for this condition as it is affecting my mental and physical well ness and also my sexual life significantly.

@@livehappyandblessed384 fair enough, I understand fully. I had chronic uti for 3 years before I had the surgery - 7 months ago now and it’s been a game changer for me. I know everyone is different but where the infection was in my bladder had unfortunately caused a lot of damage and squamous metaplasia, which the bacteria were sticking too like Velcro. They burnt out the infection and the damage, I have found it really beneficial. I hope you feel better soon and find healing. This illness is so hard.

Before the surgery try this, limit your sugar intake, start taking lots of water as well as 20 cloves of garlic and 3 cloves once a week but make sure the infection is not active because this prevents it from coming back, it's no t a cure, i am living proof of this.

Hi Dr B, just subscribed. Am a former UK GP, also patient at Prof Malone-Lee’s chronic UTI clinic in London. Went through the same process of realisation as you due to both my patients’ and my own symptoms and responses to treatment. Have you read the Prof’s book? VG roundup of the evidence (as it stood in 2022), and the barriers to getting the medical profession to abandon the dogmas around “normal urine is sterile” and the MSU culture “gold standard”. Wishing you all the best and looking forward to your future videos.

I've been having this problem for years. I had an infection from Klebsiella Oxytoca after having a hysterectomy. Been on numerous antibiotics that caused this bacteria to be resistant. Had a bladder scope to remove the bacteria. Because there was so much bacteria, it was'nt all removed. Now I have a prolapse bladder and have been given Cipro, with sudaafed, because I am allergic to it. So nauseated and constipated , it's a horrible antibiotic. In three days I have to have another culture. If it's positive I can't get a bladder lift. Will probably have to have another scope. What upsets me the most, is this infection came from the hospital. I think it will always be an on going problem. I'm wondering if an alkaline diet would help? Going out later to get some flora-gel, it's a pro biotic to replace the good bacteria that was killed off by the antibiotics.

Wish you were in the uk, I’ve lost a decade of my life trying to survive day to day with awful symptoms and it took me years to stop gaslighting myself, I always knew it was UTI, I have to buy my own antibiotics, the urologist doesn’t even think chronic uti exists, just IC and PBS. I have had to find the research myself (Prof Malone-Lee) and all the evidence showing that dipsticks and cultures are extremely inaccurate. Edit: sorry for terrible grammar, my mental health is shot as well and can’t even express myself coherently anymore.

Seems like we all have a similar story. Doctor you mentioned DNA but didn't elaborate on it?
Briefly my uti's have been so frequent that I have now renal scarring. However, recently it seems thst there is a mast cell activation issue in several systems.
Something that has quietened down my bladder significantly is fenofexadine 180mg daily. Also stops asthma, sinus inflammation, blockage and hoarse voice.
However there are pus cells in the urine test. It seems to never end.

But since last 4 years without any trigger I am having consistent IC and UTI.i I hv done almost40 urine culture in last 4 years
After one corse I get another episode in next 10 days max. Can you help me pl ? I hv been cranberry supplements, d mannose, applying estrogen cream but it doesn't stop my UTI. Can repeated cystoscopy and Dilation would help? Is there anything which will relwive me from permanent urethra burning. Bladder tenderness. Permanent stress and absolute no life than UTI

🥹 you are a kind man to reflect like this. In Australia they recently introduced guidelines for CUTI. In the uk not yet, and as the guidelines only mention recurrent uti, there’s no such diagnosis. Malone-Lee cured people with long term high dose antibiotics, at least one year long. Nitrofurantoin, Keflex, Trimethoprim - narrow spectrum ABX
