- this is an updated version of my previous basics video on live data, i got asked alot of questions so i made a more detailed video but if you still have questions feel free to comment and i will answer as soon as i can!
Good video. Thanks. I had a coworker borrow to me an Innova 5310 . I have no idea what the live data actually means. Your videos are helping a 63 year old learn about the whole process of using the cars computer to know what's going on with the car.
I've been looking on TH-cam for weeks now trying to find a vid that explains in detail about how to read my scanner. finally found this video, great job man explaining in detail what everything means!!! I sure do appreciate you taking the time to point out all the details.

Open loop is basically the "choke" on a cold start. Its turned off the sensors as the fuelling is a preset amount until the car engine is warmed up.
Closed loop is when the choke is off and the sensors kick in and are used to actively adjust the fuelling amount.
Great info ..keep the videos coming..looking forward
Really appreciate the info! Just purchased a scanner so I’m just trying to learn anyway and anywhere!
Nicely done buddy nicely done 👍
Hi , love your videos. Do you have any clues on how a faulty PCV system would effect fuel trim readings and high emissions ? Thanks oh and is MAF sensor data available to view on these scanners and what is normal values. Cheers
Can you make a complete VIDO of all live data and maybe how to read Freeze frame
Hey how are you I caught your video and I really liked it I took some snapshots of my OBD sensor and I was just wondering if I could send it over to you so you can make sense of it for me see what certain numbers mean et cetera please let me know thank you
The Centech brand is at Harbor Freight, and they have several different levels of scanner products. Make sure yours has live data (sometimes called
"Mode 6") to get the fuel trim data.
Great Job. Thanks for this. I have a lovely intermittent engine cut out and problem starter. I have already checked fuel pump and sensors and relays. No joy. This is now what I plan to do with crank over from cold I have no option won't give me "correct" readings anyway but hopefully help point me in the correct direction. Crank sensor would still show RPM for example.. hands dirty time after watching this.
How do check tranny on it and what should one look for, can you read milage on it with scanner live data .
Thank you for the video. I have a p0087 on an fk8 after installing fuel system and turbo upgrade. No vacuum leaks, pressure tested the system, I’ve been over it about 20 times checking everything. It only as 5K miles on it. And now it threw a p0172 code. It’s dumping a lot of fuel and every component in the fuel system is brand new except for the fuel lines and rail and sensor. I’m thinking it’s the rail sensor but it’s $500 bc you have to buy the whole rail from the stealer. Any ideas? Thanks
Great video! I'm just starting to learn how to use my scanner. Trying to chase down P0200 on all 4 cylinders, no other codes visible. Has to be something common like HP pump or coil pack.
I keep getting a misfire on #4. Live data shows the shrtftb2s2 at 99.2!!!!! please help
Hi, could you please do a video showing what you want to see as far as EGR readings. Command, actual and error and explain this please?
i have a 2001 Mitsubishi spyder gt six-cylinder. convertible. do you still have your 2002 mitsubishi?
Thanks. Old dog here too.
anything above 3% means power loss ! anything above 3% will mess the timings.
Tell us about the different banks why dose fuel have more then one bank?
Can you make for MAF sensor live data?
I love it, tnx it was really helpful
Great stuff... Thanks.
So many problems that didn't exist when engines weren't computer controlled. You'd only have a problem if the engine had a problem, rather than the computer going into limp mode because a sensor or emission garbage device is faulty.
What if you have one stuck at 11.2 & another reading up down total reading at - 35
I have a 2010 CRV my short-term fuel trim at idle is 40+ then goes down to near 0 @ 2500 RPM. I have checked for vacuum leaks and found none replaced fuel injectors, pcv valve etc has not fixed my problem car runs fine just know it's not right. Any suggestions?
On my 01 dodge ram 5.9ltr ive got a consistent 99.0 positive live reading on shrtf2 i cant imagine why my fuel mileage is terrible but dont know why or how its so high
Thank you 🙏🏼
How do you read OBDII Live Data Voltage Scope readings to determine if 02 sensor is good.
What causes the - fuel trim on the 02 eclipse you work on?
What is the G & ? Mean
How much maf g/s value should be if I’m driving at 60 km/hr? Mine is at 15-20% on cruze lt 1.4 2014.
Open & Closed loop, what other complex computer issues going on that is intresting?
What is PID on Live Dada existing PID select PIDs
I'm getting a reading on live feed
SHRTFT of between 19 to -18 what should I look for ?
Thanks for the video's, just started looking into knowing... O2S B1S2. .1 -.8. STFT B1 S2. 99.2% ?
My STFT B1 S2 says 99.2 percent as well. Im confused
I just bought a blue Drive scanner can you show us how to read that one and the 02
Which obd2 scanner are you using
👍👍👍👍👍
Hi, great videos, just looking at the voltage readings from my O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1 2.81volts its the same from 2 scan tools engine hot @ idle, do you thing the sensor has had it ?
It might be a fuel ratio sensor.. 3.3v is perfect.. lower is rich.. higher is lean
Does your scanner read transmission fluid temperature?
Does this scan tool read live TFT pid? Thanks
When I'm looking at my love data on my 05 GP my STFT is staying around 25%? What does that mean idk much about fuel trims
I don't experience a driveability issue until I get to 50-70mph the rpms goes up and down like the car want's to stall
I believe you’re running rich then. Could be a big vacuum leak.
You could spray brake cleaner along the vacuum lines and if the idle goes, you’ve just found the leak and replace the hose. If there is no increase in idle, then you might have an internal vacuum leak. It could be one of your gaskets. Hope this helps!
Thank you bro!!
I got the same scanner, working on my truck is basically a hobby but the camshaft sensor code come up so I put in a new sensor and erased codes but after a few hours I checked again an the code come up again. I don't know what else to do. any advice??
Drew Mckenzie thank you I really appreciate that! and as far as the code goes do you remember exactly what code it was? if it came back after the sensor was replaced with a known good one I would make sure there is power at the connector. if there is the only thing left would be a wiring issue hope this helps and let me know if you have the specific code
the code is P0342
I have an 02 gt 3.0 and I have a hesitation on low rpms, after 2 thousand it goes away and runs fine. I have tried everything I can find to try. If any one has any ideas...... NEED HELP....... NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.......new plugs, wires, roter cap and button, intake gasket,.... ANY IDEAS......
Get the fixed chip it's amazing bro
can we get this data if our mobile or computer is far away from this using internet?
yea theres wifi ones as well as bluetooth scanners as long as your wifi reaches
What is the problem when you have 0 ltft and 0 stft reading?
I think the closest to zero is best
What if Bank 1 is 8 in the bank 2 is - 8
I have a 2001 Toyota corolla and my SHR TFB1S2 stays at 99.2% why is that?
thats another value for that sensor, that doesnt mean its 99.2% lean or rich :D
Hi! Great video! Question: What about numbers regarding Long Term Fuel Trim? thanks again as always
Simply Z thank you! long term fuel trims you really want to see as close to 0 of course but anything around 1-3 positive or negative isn't that big of a deal. anything constant that is higher than that I would start to look around. but for long term you really want to see low numbers. I'll have a video up soon that will show examples between good and bad readings so hopefully that will explain it a bit better. thank you again
RIU Performance thanks so much! A video for that would be great!
What if you got zero. 000 I'm one of the banks
my SHRTFTB1S1 is jumping from 11 to 18..my SHRTFTB1S2 says N/A ,SHRTFTB2S2 (7-11) my shrtftb2s2 is at 99.2!!!l shrtft1 15-18..iat 188 shrtftb2s1 14-17.. My car is shutting off and high gas usage..
Large vacuum leak.
I have a 97 f150 with p0174 and p0171 and I looked at fuel trim and they short and long r at 30 + and my truck runs rough at idle but it gets worse while driving
Was there a fix? Got the same problem.
I'll be honest I appreciate the video but you ramble on and on and on and repeat yourself a lot
Don't watch. Dude is teaching us dummies something fairly complex and I appreciate him doing so. Don't like it don't watch.
