I'm an Orthodox, I listen to Christian Metal, Christian Rap, etc, in my free time. But when in CHURCH, that would be very weird. The Church is not there to serve our desires, that can be done outside as well, the Church is a place of spiritual healing, and just as we don't tell surgeons how to decorate their OR to accommodate for us better, we shouldn't tell Churches how to conduct their ministries either.

Same here! Because of certain life circumstances, Christian unity has become a serious battleground in my social and prayer life and I have developed a deep passion to see Christians, ALL Christians unified around Christ. Gavin has been such an encouragement and his channel has been so empowering to me. I thank God for amazing minds like his.
The Catholic Church teaches that salvation is a not a onetime event of saying the right words. It is a lifelong process of continual cooperation with God’s grace. We cooperate with trust, obedience, striving for holiness and striving for holiness in our environment.
No Protestant church has ever taught that salvation is just saying words. From the beginning salvation has been biblical salvation. By faith alone! What God does inside a person comes by faith not me trying to reform my outward behaviors and trying to look outwardly Christian. That’s phariseeism.

I'm pretty sure he is talking about initial justification (from a Catholic perspective), not the totality of salvation. Protestants would also argue vehemently against the idea that salvation is a onetime event of confessing the right words, but rather is comprised of Protestant justification, sanctification, and glorification.
@ salvation requires one thing and it doesn’t matter if it happens at 5 or 95 on your death bed like thief. Have you ever received Christ, His Spirit. If you have, you are child of God and how close or how far you are from death has no bearing on it.
Ruslan, please get Josiah Trenham and Gavin to do a long form discussion on your show while you moderator. Thanks. Be the greatest show ever. Would love to see those two together, it’s my goal if I get enough money to make it happen. 😂😂
Gavin is on the attack against ancient, historic Christianity. He’s also a Calvinist. I question that he is guided by God in his quest to undermine the faith once and for all delivered.
@@andys3035 It's not an attack to question and study the beliefs that a church claims to have received infallibly through the Holy Spirit. you have to wrestle with the fact that multiple churches claim to be the "one true church" that Christ established and all use the same church fathers to back up their claims. also all church traditions have to wrestle with how God's sovereignty plays into salvation. if you're being honest you'd say there are parts of Scripture that lead one to the concept of predestination and "the elect" as the Bible states. "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him." I'm not even a calvinist but it's not that black and white.
@@jenniferboht961 I'm not judging him and his salvation, I am judging what he says. He is constantly attacking the apostolic faith and inserting Protestantism. He has been corrected by other Orthodox but refuses to stop. That is what I am adamant about.
I thank God for this interview. So much what NEEDED to be said got some light here. There's so much anxiety that's going around salvation and shedding light through the illustrations can bring peace to those who just aren't sure anymore. Let the peace of God prevail
I would advise anyone who doesn't feel assured of their salvation to take time away from listening to what other people have to say so that they can hear what God has to say. It's between you and God and no one else.
I think it’s more accurate to say every denomination has weaknesses, blind spots, or preferences of doctrine/practice they emphasize to the point of neglecting others. That’s just the human element of the church. The bride of Christ is complex, has a long history, and is still growing, so as soon as we think we have it figured out we realize there’s still more. So yes, “negatives” are areas where a church needs to mature.
I'm with you on that my brother. totally agree. A lot of dominations have flaws but in essences out still Christians. but there are some cults or sects that claim to be Christians but in essences are not like JW, SA, or CLS.
I don’t think the orthodox are saying “we just don’t know if we are saved”. It seems like they are just less focused on needing that assurance and instead focused more on just becoming like Christ (Theosis). and it seems like us Protestant need to know assuredly that “I AM saved” and it’s almost a pride thing. I don’t think salvation is an event anymore. We should be just glad and honored that we have been put on the PATH of salvation by no merit of our own. This is why we have to work out our salvation with fear and trembling… we are Bride, Son, and servant…. Loved, identified, and given responsibility
I’ve looked into Orthodoxy a good amount, it’s pretty clear they don’t know if they’re saved or not. Look up someone like Fr. Peter Heers on orthodox ethos and hell flat out say they don’t know. Orthodoxy looks at the West as a bunch of legalism and a focus on certainty. The problem from them is that the apostles talk with certainty
Orthodox and Catholic would say like Paul Romans 8,24: "For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently" Its not said with absolut sertanty, because than you dont need Hope anymore, and in the end believe because you know for sure to be saved. Orthodox and Catholics admit that everything is in Gods Hand and God desires that everyone is saved, but there is Free Will and every believer can before he dies reject God because of his Free Will.
If you had a son or a daughter, would you want them to know, if they were climbing a mountain, to know if a path led to destruction or conquest? It's important to know our eternal destiny. And yes, *to know*.
As a Catholic, I'm very glad you accept the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. However, I have to agree with the Catholic and Orthodox take that you unfortunately have never participated in the Eucharist. It's not a matter of feelings, apostolic succession is biblical, not everyone can perform transubstantiation. If you were a far away tribe with no contact, then I suppose you would be excused from not receiving the Eucharist until you found your way to one of the apostolic churches. Please read the bible about apostolic succession, not everyone has the same ability to do everything.
Catholic Catechism on Salvation: “Sinful man cannot save himself” “Our justification comes from the Grace of God, and the call to eternal life is supernatural. It depends entirely on God’s gratuitous initiative.” “He alone can reveal and give himself. It surpasses human intellect and will.” “Justification has been merited for us by the passion of Christ who offered himself on the cross, as a living victim, holy and pleasing to God, and whose blood has become the instrument of atonement for the sins for all of mankind.” “Justification is the acceptance of God’s righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ.”
“Justification has been merited for us by the Passion of Christ. It is granted us through Baptism.” - Catechism 2020 “No one can merit the initial grace which is at the origin of conversion. Moved by the Holy Spirit, we can merit for ourselves and for others all the graces needed to attain eternal life, as well as necessary temporal goods.” - Catechism 2027
That's not the same as protestentism. For them and me justification and salvation has the same means of fulfilling faith. The initial justification cannot be merited nor can you merit any further salvation or justification. Hence faith apart from works for initial and final not just initial. So it's not the same and the Catholic Church has officially anathematized the supposed protestant idea of the gospel though it doesn't get what protestents view the essential of it as like faith is not viewed as a mere mental assent but that's what it's told to be by the council.
In Catholicism, Grace is given to empower us to do the work necessary for salvation it is given freely but must be used to achieve salvation. Certain graces manifest themselves as sacraments such as baptism (where salvation begins), communion, marriage, ordination, confession, last rights. These can be seen as 'works' but they are very simple behaviors to engage in.
@@nickfedor210I’m reading the Catechism (2017-2029) and the way you are articulating Grace is not in line with the Catholic teaching. I’m sure you are not doing it with malice, I’d just humbly ask you to review this in the Catechism. I think if we get the understanding of Grace wrong we can get Christianity and Jesus wrong. God Bless.
Personally, my current understanding of Church unity isn't everyone going to the same denomination, singing the same songs and dressing the same. I will feel as uncomfortable in a Latin service as I would in a very charismatic service. Traditionally my culture isn't one to sing in church with our hands in the air - and that is 100% right. Just as it is 100% right to sing with drums waving your hands in the air. My idea of church unity is giving each other space and respect and acknowledging each other as Christians, as long as the other is correct in the important stuff. And Paul writes about not judging other Christians on fringe issues that are unimportant and unclear.
@@trajohnson2640 It's a nice idea, but we have fundamental disagreements both on what are "essential" doctrines and the role of church tradition when it comes to the faith. I don't think your ever going to resolve those differences this side of glory
@@thewaterguy17 I understand what you mean I just always laugh because why would we not try to get everyone on our team before we are fighting amongst family?
The Eucharist isn't a fringe issue it's one of the core issues. It separated Christians in the first 300 years from non Christians. Now, people pretend to be Christian whilst they do not have the Eucharist they have grape juice and crackers
Gavin is one of my favorite content creators in existence. Super humble. Super smart. I do find it interesting that when discussing continuationism, he communicated things that Cessationists believe also. There’s more overlap and agreement than people think.
@@seeqr9 and this is a problem why? I would say the three main groups all have things wrong. Protestantism doesn’t believe what the original founders believe. Catholics went through a reformation as well. And people don’t ACTUALLY know what they believe. They use old language with new definitions. And people don’t actually know church history. Early church history. Also. There is Right Catholic. And then Eastern catholic. Roman Catholic and Orthodox Catholic. Different same. We are so busy fighting about who is the one true church. Or the one true denomination. That cults use that line. Instead of realizing that if we just stuck together as brothers as what Jesus prayed for, saying Jesus is the one true way. Then we could all rally and say when a leader or cult says they are the “one true way” in one loud voice say, they are not.
@ I’m afraid you’re caricaturing Protestants the way RC and EO do. The very heart of Protestantism is that we try to reform as much as possible to what the founders intended. And while there are exceptions, Protestantism at its core doesn’t necessarily consider the other main traditions as damned or anathema. We see them as believers in error. It’s the other two that curse everyone but themselves as damned for not submitting to their every ruling even against one’s conscience. Of course the every day members of those traditions don’t necessarily feel that way but that’s because of your point that they don’t actually know what they believe. So unfortunately it’s not as easy as you … or I, would like it to be.
Mike winger is the same , he doesen`t bash people based on where they fall in the different theological camps. Thanks for a well conducted interview Ruslan ,you are great at what you do brother man. God bless the two of you
Acculturating into the present culture through “Praise and worship” is fine I suppose. There’s a place for it. It’s not the highest form of worship where we worship together, and experience the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
I think calling Catholicism bad because of it’s exclusivity is not a good argument. Priests were always ordained in the Bible by the laying of hands and a constant succession of that. To say that the early Church operated in the same way that Protestant churches do today is very wrong. We have proof that the earliest Christians practiced the Mass the same way Catholics do. In addition to that, why should anyone walk into a Catholic Church who doesn’t understand it’s teaching on transubstantiation and the real presence along with all other teachings and say “Amen” when the Minister of the Eucharist says “The Body of Christ”? They are not only lying to the Church but lying to themselves by doing that. It’s not being exclusive but protecting the Church and others who attend! I would say the idea that most Protestants believe in the real presence is incorrect just from most conversations I have had with them in the past. Either way there is good reasoning for this “exclusivity.”
I love my catholic friends, but i don’t need the church to obtain salvation. I’m a little perturbed with all of the churches. But anyway, I had an evil being enter my bedroom and threw him out using the name of Jesus. Meaning my power comes from my faith in Christ and not given to me thu the church. But I also agree that God is love and grace and not as ridged as our churches require. He understands how we are raised, the path we have walked. We as Christian’s will be judged differently than the man born before Christ and never heard the gospel.
@ I agree that God is love and grace. But Jesus Christ, fully man and fully God established a Church on earth for us to follow and every Christian understood it that way until the Reformation. I don’t think God would lead us astray and have us spread out through different denominations, it just makes sense to have one church and one authority to guide us. Faith in Christ is not given to us by the Church but through Jesus Christ to the church He established. Without that authority, it leads us with many unanswered questions that Protestants fail to unite on today.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is pretty close to a hill to die on. It was so important to Jesus that He commanded His disciples to not go out spreading the gospel until they had received the power they would need to go out in the power of the Holy Spirit. Then, on the day of Pentecost, after they were filled with the Holy Spirit, 3000 were saved. Literally, every time one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit was manifested while I was sharing the Lord with an unbeliever, the person responded to the gospel positively. As signs and wonders were the calling card in Jesus' ministry, so it will be in our ministry. Jesus in us is the same yesterday and today!
This is what Christ instituted. He instituted a Church with real physical and doctrinal boundaries, one over which the gates of hell would not prevail. To insist that the Divine Revelation ended with the death of the Apostles disregards the power of the Holy Spirit in the laying on of hands (ordination) of their successors. It is through the power of the Holy Spirit that fallible men have been able to preserve the fullness of the Truth. We agree that the Scriptures are infallible. However, not because they are written down. Because they are preserved by the power of the Holy Spirit, the same as the Tradition and doctrines of the Church that were not written down. And we believe that Scripture and Tradition TOGETHER occupy that spot of highest authority. They are INSEPARABLE from one another, because it is through Tradition that the Scriptures were born. Careful study of the Church’s history prove that Orthodoxy is "backwards compatible." All other Christian "denominations" that were born from Roman Catholicism (and Roman Catholicism itself) are not "backwards compatible", whether in terms of doctrine or in terms of Tradition remaining preserved. The question you should ask yourself is which tradition we should use to interpret the Bible? Should we trust the Apostolic Tradition of the Church that gave us the Scriptures, with roots tracing back to Christ? Or should we trust the muddled, modern traditions of Protestantism, which ironically make every man his own pope? Ill stick with tradition. ☦️ All glory to God.
I followed you until you spoke against the Catholic Church. Orthodoxy isn't one Church like the Catholic Church, you have schisms going on right now between Russia and Constantinople precisely because of jurisdiction issues which wouldn't exist if you had the Pope as final appeal. I'm also putting a note on the situation with toll houses that have Orthodox calling each other the H word for accepting or not accepting toll houses, both sides. There's also the female deacons situation in Orthodoxy they've been ordained now which is a clear sacrilege. Moreover development of theology in the Catholic Church is backwards compatible, you cannot however pretend that the Apostles had everything we have today with no "grain to tree" development of doctrine. Lastly I pray the Orthodox churches like the Eastern Orthodox Catholics join back to the Catholic Church against which the gates of hades will not prevail.
Traditional doesn’t hold as much weight as the word of God itself. That’s the mistake the Pharisees made. They had their man made traditions and tried to make them equal to the word of God, which Jesus rebuked them for. Clearly the scriptures have to be higher than tradition, even if tradition is a high authority (which many Protestants and historical Protestantism actually says tradition has authority), it is not close to being equal with Gods word itself. That doesn’t even make any sense. Yes, the gates of hell will not prevail. The Holy Spirit has guided the Universal Church. And that universal church includes Protestants, Catholics, and Eastern Orthodox. The one Church Christ established is not one denomination. Christs one church includes those who believe in Christ as their savior, baptizing those in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit, practicing the sacraments (ordinances), living out their trust in God. That’s the most biblical way of understanding things. There is no evidence the apostles would agree with your exclusivist only Eastern Orthodox understanding of truth. The Apostles would not claim Protestants today as outside the Church of God. Heck, even Christ told his disciples to not be against the man who was working in Jesus name, as Jesus said those who are for Him are not against them. It seems Jesus would’ve accepted that man as a part of Christs work, and anyone a part of Christs work where God is working is a part of Christs true h ch itch. Your definition of Christs true church is too narrow and frankly, unbiblical. Scripture makes it clear ALL believers are a part of Christs Church. We are all the body of Christ. You can’t be a believer and outside of the body. That makes the modern Catholic and Orthodox positions of people being outside of their respective churches and yet saved unrecoverable with how Paul describes believers as being a part of Christs body. If you are a part of Christs body, you are in His church.
43:41 the problem is that the beautiful hymns are beautiful because they are timeless. Not because they were modern in their time. Also to say things like where did the altar come from it's not like it came down from Heaven. It literally did come down from heaven. Deuteronomy is full of these things that are still here today
Im only 15 min in but so far all im hearing is nothing but assertions. No actual evidence or logical reasons for why we should believe in the Protestant way.
Thats non denomonation church for you. Lots of personal beliefs but no concrete beliefs or traditions. And do not require anyone in their church to hold any of the beliefs.
I'm assuming you're catholic or orthodox? I can address some Catholic beliefs I do not think we should believe in as followers of Christ if your Catholic.
The Eucharist or Lords supper has always been thought to have presence and divine healing in my Church and a lot of Christians that I talk to believe that as well. When I hear Catholics or Orthodox say that we all believe the bread and the wine to us is just symbolic or just in memory, I'm often confused as to why that is. Very good convo
Unfortunatey, I was raised Southern Baptist and we were taught the the bread and grape juice were only symbolic. The kind Baptist pastor behind our house just told me recently that it is only symbolic.
They are ignoring all other denominations of Protestants that don't hold to the symbolic view. I myself do but I know not all agree with me and that's fine.
I did a very in depth study on covenants in the Old and New Testament ( as a Protestant). It was such an eye opener on to the extreme significance of the Lord Supper as a sign of the Covenant our Lord made with us, sealed by His blood. Since then, I take communion with extreme reverence and gratitude for the Covenant he made with us by dying on the cross for our sins. I do have to say that the Lords Supper is not always elevated as it should in some Protestant churches. Some Pastors don’t even talk about self examination and repentance prior to partaking, which is so significant.
I think “easy believism” is just repackaged legalism. Both are transactional. The legalist says if I do this good work and don’t do those sins, then I will earn salvation. The easy believist says if I say this prayer or walk this aisle, then I will earn salvation.
Obeying God's laws and submitting to His government is not "legalism". Ppl use that term to justify picking and choosing which parts of the Bible they want to subject themselves to following. Nobody who don't want God to rule over their lives should ever expect to be in His Kingdom. There will be no Lucifers there.
The standard required by God’s law is perfection. Hence, no man can accomplish the laws requirements Romans 3:20. Hence, we are justified by faith not law in any way.
Catholic here. In general, yes😂 But there are aspects of evangelization that protestants get right. So I still respect my protestant brethren. But I'd never convert
There's no specific or exclusive visual style or music genre for worshipping God, but there is a widespread use of imagery and music for marketing a church and creating a consumer experience rather than using it for exalting Christ and feeding the flock.
Orthodox viewer here. I haven't finished the episode yet but I feel like a big factor in the conversation of if one is saved may be a difference in view of what salvation IS in the Eastern view compared to a Western Protestant view. I can certainly be corrected because I was never Protestant before joining the Orthodox Church, (I just ordered Gavin's book to get a better concept of Protestantism) but it seems in the East the concept of salvation is based more on healing instead of a "you're in, you're out" thing? I feel like that may be some of the disconnect Edit: I'm surprised it didn't come up but both Catholics and Orthodox express a solid following of Tradition in terms like "big T" and "little T" All the examples given in the discussion about tradition, we would consider little T traditions that are doctrinal, vestment style, liturgical customs, etc. I think we would say the difference between the things that come out now is the difference between contemporary and timeless. Contemporary things do have the potential to be timeless and over the years things like that have worked their way into the Liturgy. the majority of Orthodox hymns were written in the 7th and 8th centuries.
To them that have been given much, much will be asked…. In my studies and thoughts, God judges on a curve. Instead of being right about issues. It’s more about wanting to find what is right. An humbleness and desire to be righteous before God. I refuse to trust any human being with my salvation. I often wonder how God will judge the millions of ppl who died before Christ or never heard his message.
Thank you so much for this video. You dont understand. Basically my concerns have all been addressed from this week. Every denomination, I see aome form of unbiblical thing or something not practiced still, etc. as the bible says. Been stressing me out 😆 Mainly, thank you Lord!
I have a question for our othodox brother and sisters, im allergic to grapes? How do i recieve proper communion? 😮 no wine, no grape juice. Am i unsavable?
@dinkledork4421 sounds like a loophole, Jesus clearly said if you eat my flesh and drink my blood I will raise you up at the last day. And I can't physically consume the wine he references to as his blood. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.
@@nicholascapece a god SO powerful he could not save a guy who is allergic to grapes. 😅 or maybe he just doesn't like me? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Im sorry, but I dont see a way of taking that literally, that does not also contradict the Word of God. Praise God that he came to save anyone and everyone, even a wretch like me! 🙌
12:55 salvation is theosis. It is purification by baptism, illumination through the seal of Chrismation and union with Christ through partaking of the Divine Mysteries of the Church. Protestant definitions are missing the ecclesial aspect of salvation through the sacramental life.
Ruslan, your points are echoing the same thoughts I’ve had about the traditions of the Roman Catholic and Orthodoxy. I’ve disagreed with their claim of traditions being passed down from the apostles. The church in the book of Acts is different. There is a whole Messianic Jewish culture that isn’t represented in any of these discussions. The Catholic and Orthodox faiths make them seem Gentile. The apostles didn’t dress in all black robes or all white robes with giant hats waving around incense. I feel like the early church is being misrepresented and the Messianic Jews omitted. I’d be interested in their view of the apostolic church before the Gentile church took over and created their own traditions. The early church was very diverse. Some met in homes and others would still visit the Jewish synagogues to hear the reading of the Torah/Tanakh. When did the church stop reaching out to the Jews first and then the Gentiles? Something happened which severed the relationship with the Jewish Christian community which is overlooked. Did the apostles pass on the church to both Jewish and Gentile leaders? If so, which early church fathers were Jewish? Did they have issues with the Gentile church views against Jews or taking the position that God punished the Jews in the Roman Jewish Wars? We need the Messianic Jew perspective to unwrap some of this. I’d love to see Rabbi Kurt Schneider on the show. Maybe a couple others. Jews for Jesus, One For Israel folks. There’s a great need for the Christian Jewish view on church history.
That’s an interesting point. A lot of quotes of some of the church fathers who Catholic and orthodox people revere didn’t seem to have too much good to say about the Jews either.
Hey Ruslan, the description area doesn't provide any info on your guest. There's also no info block thing in his presentation. If we miss or forget the mentioning of his name, we're in the dark. Just thought you'd like to know how we miss what was said while searching for who said it.
I love this era of Christian discourse. I can remember back in the day when it was call-in shows on Christian radio and the unvetted volumes at the Christian bookstore. If you connected with the writings of C.S. Lewis and A.W. Tozer, you were going to be fine. Odd that I associate Max Lucado, IV Press, and Newsboys as part of the dark years.
Great content, just found this podcast. With all respect, the instructions for construction of the altar and the psalms DID in fact come from Heaven & not man.
Saved by faith (belief) alone is what Protestants get wrong. You must obey the commands of God to be saved. We are not enslaved to sin as believers. Sola scriptura was the real big win of the reformation
Interestingly I think it’s the opposite. Sola fide acknowledges that there is nothing we can do to merit Gods grace or salvation. It’s a free gift, one that cannot be earned. After receiving this gift we do good works. It’s not a “have to” it’s a “get to”. We don’t do good works to earn God’s favor we do it because we love him and what he have done for us. Usually the works we show can be a good indication of our faith. So basically salvation is not something mercenary. The more Catholic/orthodox arguments against sola scriptura I hear though I find it hard to defend.
1:08:58 the money is not being pumped in to the Daily Wire, consumers are finding value in the services provided and advertisers see value in the markets they can reach. It's not equivalent to some billionaires buying up pastors, like Qatarese buying up universities
As an Orthodox Christian we know where the Eucharist IS we do not know where the Eucharist is absent. We never deny that God works in the lives of the Heterodox either.
What is often missing in these conversations is the always already nature of Christ. It’s there in the story of the prodigal son but so often missed because of our fundamental commitment to separation. We are already sons! Let’s own it.
So the answer to the question in the tittle it is yes. I continue to hear “I believe …” “I like …”, “I this and that” The reasons to go to church is to worship God. And the Highest ways of worship is through the sacrifice of the mass. Sorry guys, I had to share my 2cents. I used to watch ruslan more frequent but I think I have had enough. I’ll continue to pray for him and I pray that God continues to bless him abundantly. but I can’t continue to follow him and watching his content.
As it relates to being a charismatic with a seatbelt, and using scriptures as the guide ( To which I am in agreement with, and im not a cessationist, barely a continuationist), i had a thought while listening to that statement. Ive heard Ruslan say it numerous times, but this conversation made me think: What were the scriptures being used to affirm all of the acts of the apostles, beginning at Pentecost and onward? They were very much outside of the normal tradition of their present faith. The scriptures as we know them today, were being lived and then written down after the fact. They had no seatbelt then. To me, this feels as though, being a charismatic with a seatbelt, is an argument for a soft cessationism...?!
There are former Catholics that went through the same thing with the church , and just that situation they put all Catholics in a box and end up going Protestant So I found Gavin’s advice to the young lady interesting , he doesn’t want her going to Orthodoxy
7:16 you should look into the people who believe in the "Little season" escapology. They believe Jesus already came back and we're living in the great deception of Satan now before the final judgment.
Redeemed Zoomer need to listen to this. He’s always punching down on CCM and churches aren’t built like cathedrals. Especially knowing Gavin being a former Presbyterian
In regards to the title I believe yes but I also believe that there will be people who will be saved and damned in every trinitarian denomination and even in completely different religions but it will be so slim it's almost none. These of coarse are people that by no fault of their own hadn't heard the gospel but lived relatively righteous.

Do you actually know what all the catholic church believes in?
Ruslan, please get Josiah Trenham and Gavin to do a long form discussion on your show while you moderator. Thanks. Be the greatest show ever. Would love to see those two together, it’s my goal if I get enough money to make it happen. 😂😂
Traditional Catholic here, thank you for your work Ruslan!
Love Gavin, his videos tug at my heart all the time ❤️ I'm deeply inspired to make my life count when I listen to his stuff.
Cool interview 🙌🏽
so grateful for how God is using Gavin!!
Ruslan and Gavin - have no fear. Scripture - work out your salvation with fear and trembling :)
@@andys3035 Gavin is a man of God speaking the truth…who are you to judge? He is representing classic Protestantism and our beliefs.

What an awesome discussion. I love Gavin’s unifying approach
I thank God for this interview. So much what NEEDED to be said got some light here. There's so much anxiety that's going around salvation and shedding light through the illustrations can bring peace to those who just aren't sure anymore. Let the peace of God prevail
Thanks for having Dr. Ortland and postomg the full interview! I always love to hear him speak.
Thank you so much for mentioning his name. I've spent 12 minutes searching for who he is.
@ruslankd praying for you to keep seeking the full truth!
I would advise anyone who doesn't feel assured of their salvation to take time away from listening to what other people have to say so that they can hear what God has to say. It's between you and God and no one else.
I'm fully convinced that every denomination has negatives.
That’s because they are cults.

Always so awesome when two of your favorite Bible teachers unite!
Beautifully said
Joyful confidence and assurance in Christ's good work is not prideful.
25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently"
Its not said with absolut sertanty, because than you dont need Hope anymore, and in the end believe because you know for sure to be saved.
High fives all around, good conversation gents!
Love Gavin, didn’t even know we had the same beliefs on eschatology and other less important issues
Who says they’re less important?
@ less important, meaning, not worth dividing church’s over/ not changing or salvation status
Makes you feel a little less weird, hey :) especially when eg. premillenialism is so prevalent in some circles
Good stuff Ruslan.
So glad to have this collaboration 🕊️
I have liked now I can watch.
Thanks, good video.
Cannot WAIT for your "voice of reason" episode. I hope you raise these questions with him as well.
Roman Catholic here, watching two of my favorite Christian TH-camrs - excellent show!
To answer the title question….YES
Guys, this is so good.
Catholic Catechism on Salvation:
“Sinful man cannot save himself”
“Our justification comes from the Grace of God, and the call to eternal life is supernatural. It depends entirely on God’s gratuitous initiative.”
“He alone can reveal and give himself. It surpasses human intellect and will.”
“Justification has been merited for us by the passion of Christ who offered himself on the cross, as a living victim, holy and pleasing to God, and whose blood has become the instrument of atonement for the sins for all of mankind.”
“Justification is the acceptance of God’s righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ.”
“Justification has been merited for us by the Passion of Christ. It is granted us through Baptism.” - Catechism 2020
“No one can merit the initial grace which is at the origin of conversion.
Those behaviors don’t save us though. Paul made that very clear. There’s no actions we can do to save ourselves.
God Bless.
I'm not worried who is "cooler"
It's worship via the Holy Mass vs evangelizing via local gatherings
Exactly, and if we can do that and stick to scripture then Christianity can be together and we can start having others come to the faith

This was amazing. I like Christians who utilize their brains. Lovely stuff ❤.
Love Gavin. He’s doing a much needed work for those who are being pulled to RC and EO. Glad to see him on here.
God bless the two of you
You finally did it brother, thanks Ruslan.😁
This convo 🔥
i dare you to host Bryan Wolfmueller (a Lutheran perspective conspicuously absent from so many of these "Protestant" talks)
Agree 100% Pastor Wolfmueller is very very theologically smart. And super based he’s Missouri Synod after all
I would wanna see Jordan b cooper

We have to wait until March for Gavin's book to be released in Australia in hard copy. Audible is available, maybe kindle.

Thanks for this.
Yes, moving on
This is what Christ instituted.
The pope? Lol speaking of the pope , you will know them by their fruits , that's all I'll say
Many great men in The Bible were flawed. We all are. Let's pray for one another and ask Jesus to help us with our own sins. 😊
@@VirginMostPowerfullRome split off, you also can’t agree on salvation outside of the church, your tradition and dogmas have also changed

15:15 - listen to this. Ruslan nails it, perfectly. I never knew the agape love of God until I had my own son. Then, it was clear.
@@armanijones I believe they are trying to base what they say on the Bible, with the idea that the Bible, is authoritative.

I'm assuming you're catholic or orthodox? I can address some Catholic beliefs I do not think we should believe in as followers of Christ if your Catholic.
20:10 spot on. You want to be obedient not out of fear of hell, but because you are greatful to God your father.
Hey Ruslan KD. You should have Theocast( Justin Perdue and Jon Mofitt) on your show. I think that would be super beneficial.
Great talk!
@ it is if you’re doing it to earn salvation.
The standard required by God’s law is perfection. Hence, no man can accomplish the laws requirements Romans 3:20. Hence, we are justified by faith not law in any way.
Hello, I did not see the Free PDF of The Bless God Prayer Journal listed in your information box. Is it no longer available, please and thank you?

Catholic here. In general, yes😂
But there are aspects of evangelization that protestants get right.
I feel like that may be some of the disconnect
Edit: I'm surprised it didn't come up but both Catholics and Orthodox express a solid following of Tradition in terms like "big T" and "little T" All the examples given in the discussion about tradition, we would consider little T traditions that are doctrinal, vestment style, liturgical customs, etc.

In no Christian tradition that professes sacramental theology are you “unsavable” due to an inability to consume a standard element.
@dinkledork4421 sounds like a loophole, Jesus clearly said if you eat my flesh and drink my blood I will raise you up at the last day. And I can't physically consume the wine he references to as his blood. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

12:55 salvation is theosis. It is purification by baptism, illumination through the seal of Chrismation and union with Christ through partaking of the Divine Mysteries of the Church. Protestant definitions are missing the ecclesial aspect of salvation through the sacramental life.

What it means to be Protestant is incredible!
Was I the only one that noticed the rust was like a height man in the background? 😂 great video, very informative.
There are “extraordinary” means for extraordinary circumstances. In fairness to the RCC they have addressed that.

Two of the best Christian apologists today! I love Gavin and Ruslan!

Sorry guys, I had to share my 2cents. I used to watch ruslan more frequent but I think I have had enough. I’ll continue to pray for him and I pray that God continues to bless him abundantly. but I can’t continue to follow him and watching his content.
God's not dead , He's surly Alive!!!!! Christ is King!!!!
As it relates to being a charismatic with a seatbelt, and using scriptures as the guide ( To which I am in agreement with, and im not a cessationist, barely a continuationist), i had a thought while listening to that statement. Ive heard Ruslan say it numerous times, but this conversation made me think:
What were the scriptures being used to affirm all of the acts of the apostles, beginning at Pentecost and onward? They were very much outside of the normal tradition of their present faith. The scriptures as we know them today, were being lived and then written down after the fact. They had no seatbelt then.
To me, this feels as though, being a charismatic with a seatbelt, is an argument for a soft cessationism...?!
There are former Catholics that went through the same thing with the church , and just that situation they put all Catholics in a box and end up going Protestant
So I found Gavin’s advice to the young lady interesting , he doesn’t want her going to Orthodoxy
Not once does the Bible teach religion or denomination. It’s about Christ.
7:16 you should look into the people who believe in the "Little season" escapology. They believe Jesus already came back and we're living in the great deception of Satan now before the final judgment.
Paul tells us we carry two natures. our old sinfull nature and our new nature Christ in us. It is the new nature that cannot sin and is heaven-bound.
At what point in the parable of the prodigal son did the prodigal son get "saved"?
Redeemed Zoomer need to listen to this. He’s always punching down on CCM and churches aren’t built like cathedrals. Especially knowing Gavin being a former Presbyterian
Yeah unfortunately RD can't just say that CCM isn't for him, he bashes it pretty hard nearly like it's an essential.
Short answer: Yes 💯
In regards to the title I believe yes but I also believe that there will be people who will be saved and damned in every trinitarian denomination and even in completely different religions but it will be so slim it's almost none. These of coarse are people that by no fault of their own hadn't heard the gospel but lived relatively righteous.
Dr Gavin is 👌🏻
