    My husband works 14/7. Rotation from day shift for 14 days then off for 7 then switch over to night shifts for 14.
    Night shifts also pays around $3 more an hour.
    Rotation starts on a Wednesday-Saturday (pay period ends) Sunday- Saturday (pay period ends, then Sunday-Tuesday /wed morning (pay period ends)
    Noticed on my hubby’s 7 day pay period on night shifts last week that he actually got paid over $100 LESS than the same previously paycheque on day shifts when he was paid around $3 less an hour.
    This is so backwards and shocking that the more you make- the worse off you are 🤦‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ 💵

      My husband is our sole income since I was injured on job and then was diagnosed with lupus disease which is having such severe symptoms and decrease in quality of life but I’ve worked 23 years in both commercial cooking (even nearly 7 yrs within healthcare) and got so burnt out from the abusive and unhealthy toxic work environment which ruins anyone who has a strong working standard and work ethic I ended up quitting and took a year off then decided to do a BAC union concrete finisher apprenticeship program. I have achieved (j) level prior to health issues which forced me out of work. I’m still only 48 and been fighting disability since 2018 and lost tribunal Aug 2023 and didn’t have family dr to be able to appeal.
      But husband worked union job from may 2023- dec 23rd then had temporary layoff for Xmas. Only had unemployment first 4.5 months of 2023 supporting both of us. He made $110k total and he claimed a lot of medical expenses for me and govt took $54k taxes while 13k of the 110k he made was tax free. When filed income taxes he got a grand total of $7900 and govt took the $2700 he was reassessed for 2 years prior without any explanation and determined he was refunded too much back then

    by design.

  • @rustyscrapper
    @rustyscrapper 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +45

    The carbon tax is a tarriff on domestic production. It has the opposite effect of a tarriff. It punishes domestic industry and favors foreign imports that didnt pay carbon tax on the manufacturing outside the country.
    Its the worst policy you could ever come up with.
    All imports should be equally taxed on all carbon produced during manufacturing, resources extraction, shipping and all aspects of importing the product, just to make it fair.

    • @reekinronald6776
      @reekinronald6776 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Up front carbon tax is just plain stupid. Now if the government tried to also enforce a carbon tax on imports, it would stir up an hornets nest at the WTO and all other countries we trade with. In other words, it ain't going to happen.

    • @sokolmihajlovic1391
      @sokolmihajlovic1391 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      True for the carbon tax, not true what you said about tariffs, import taxes.
      Tariffs basically just raises prices for regular folks, as this stupid carbon tax does.
      But killing the domestic industry, rob people and destroy the base of existence,
      not just with the carbon tax, that is what these melthusian eco-socalists commanded by the non-elected leaders in the World "Economic" Forum are all about.
      Carbon tax is taxing "the breathing" of the industry and companies,
      next step is to tax "the breathing" of the people themself.
      Every human emitts about 600-1200 kg CO2 a year ....
      See where this is going?

      Carbon tariffs should be applied to imports. That being said, even if those tariffs are not applied the Canadian economic benefits from the consumer spending enabled by the rebates roughly approximate the costs of the tax as imposed upon industry. It's not a huge problem for the economy.

      Im thinking you don't do the food buying, potatoes, carrots and onions of course have NEVER gone up in price for obvious reasons.
      Go to loblaws or sobeys and those rotisserie chickens are a grand total of a dollar more than they were THREE years ago.
      The five pound blueberries I buy have gone up a DOLLAR in the past three years.
      Eggs are back down, we pay more because they are fresh and free range. Dairy of course is a special case, its COMPLETELY government run and in fact could be HALF the price but its clear ALL poiticians are terrified of the dairy industry, even Polllievre who says 'socialism is bad' NEVER talks about privatizing dairy.
      The big exception is sugar, sensible canadians use honey and maple syrop which has hardly changed, but processeed foods are the main thing thats gone up, ironically they are the one thing we now know you SHOULDNT eat, but now with more immigration we have processed dinners from India that are ten times as good for half the price at immigrant stores.
      If you are still nuts enough to be paying loblaws prices, well, thats your business. But like I said, it aint food that is peoples money problems, its RENT. And frankly for us homeowners anybody honest will tell you our bigggest increase is PROPERTY TAX, which has ZERO to do with the federal government.

    Just one point, the host mentioned that the new capital gains inclusion rate is after the first 250K dollars, this is true but only for individuals. For corporations it's on the first dollar of capital gains. Doctors and many other professionals form a corporation to save for retirement and so they will be taxed on the first dollar after they retire and start paying themselves from such a corporation. Great pod cast. Looking forward to more.

If you have any power fluxuations called bumps or brownouts, It will ruin the power board in the unit. That board is over $1000 easy. the pump is $1600 easy, PLUS labor and good luck getting anyone. You have NO warranty on the unit as power issues are not covered. and yes insurance companies want two sources we heard from the brokers.

    While i am not pro carbon tax - the ignorance around the cost of home hearing oil in Atlantic Canada is annoying . Home heating oil without the carbon tax is still double natural gas when comparing operating costs . Most of these older homes don't switch due to cost to upgrade electrical system , old homes in windy areas electric can't heat alone and no propane or natural gas available in those areas. Most of Atlantic Canada would kill for natural gas even with carbon tax it's even cheaper then electric heat . I pay 500 a month for electric in the winter.

    Well, here is a wonderful opportunity for someone to come up with a better plan to reduce fossil fuel consumption. Let's remember that the carbon tax was the right wing answer to the need to reduce fossil fuel consumption, the reasoning being it was a market based solution. Yes, we can toss the tax, and replace it with what? There's couple of options. One, a hard cap on consumption, so when you reached that cap you could no longer use fossil fuels, or some kind of a cap and trade, where you could trade your cap with others who needed it more than you. The problem with both of those schemes is they are a monster to administer. The argument about our tiny contribution to global emissions is also true for almost every country in the world. It's a bit like saying, if I stopped paying my taxes, it's such a small percentage of the total no one would notice. If every taxpayer said that, it would make a difference, and yet each one of the taxpayers would be correcct. Canada has one of the highest emissions per capita in the world. We can't shake our finger at others when we are each pumping out many more times the emissions than others are.

    I must point out to Kris about the Alberta Fuel ⛽️ tax. Yes we did get a break for a year, but we needed money to pay for the Highways. Something I must point out that Jason Kenney would not fix. So in this case taxpayer money is being used towards infrastructure paying for highways. I do see an abuse of tax dollars being put to Yellowhead Trail. Everyone is tired of this nonsense out what a 10 year project on the taxpayers. The go up every year on that over done make work project. This is where Danielle needs to prod these people.

    Why would the liberals tax capital gains you made in selling your property? Owning a property is been taxed many times over....they tax us when you buy the property, they tax us while you own the property, they tax us when you renovate abd improve your property. Everytime you improve your property they increase your the value of your property tax, then ones you sell your property JT wants to tax the money you made in your property. Then taxed you again when you die, then if this property is passed on as inheritance then they tax your family in receiving the property. Then Carbon Tax....us in everything we do!!! So in short heating our homes, using our cars to go to work is punishable by Carbon tax!!! THE GOVERNMENT IS GENERATIBG WEALTH FROM US SO THEY GET A COMFORTABLE PENSIONS OUT OF OUR OWN EXPENSE!!!
