Everything will be sorted, as Canada has most educated individuals.

please add this to your stats - small business owners here in Toronto pay jack shit for your skills - there is no innovation in this segment of the economy (it's all traditional woodworking 19th century technology where I worked) - these small business owners are cheap as hell - their favorite line when you ask for a raise ? "Oh we're a small business - we can't afford to pay you a living wage"; and "Oh, there are 20 Chinese, Indians, Filipinos, Mexicans waiting at the border for this job - so you don't want it ? "

Is it residential or non residential construction? I believe the weather plays a role in that too …. Labour cost per hour in AB is twice the same in US GC…… in general, housing construction is super unproductive as those assets are unproductive and that is where the entire country is focused on….. moreover, the denominator is also a big problem - too many people were added too quickly… stressing housing demand and prices

I completed four decades of work life. I see encouragement for lot more drama/relationship issues at work places now. Eight hours at work should be about productivity. What they do after work is their business. Reward productive people, punish unproductive. Condition them to this reality, things will change.

  • @clydedufffyaway
    @clydedufffyaway วันที่ผ่านมา +2

You mean realtors, bankers , and lawyers are not productive?
Labour mobility is impaired by the fact that you’d have to work construction for 50 years to be able to afford to move. And likely for a job that pays an extra $1 an hour.
    Let wages rise

There you go, small firms caused it. Give contracts only to large firms and productivity increases. Big country and large government makes it difficult? Wonder why China has higher productivity.

Every bit of actual work done by a tradesperson is overshadowed by a burden of downloaded responsability during a time of change in building design and standards.
The solution is a publicly funded institution of free education for working tradespersons. And a redirection of responsability to government, and financers for the adherance to building codes and enviromental standards.

I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of
information can be a big hurdle. I've been
making more than $100k passively by just
investing through an advisor, and I don't have
to do much work. Inflation or no inflation, my
finances remain secure. So I really don't blame
      people who panic.

One of the reasons for productivity loss is activism, politics and groupism (gossips) at work places. For example (just for example) an employee in a bank in India is lot more productive. But same employee engages in activism in a Canadian work place. Productivity reports should be made mandatory on a daily basis. Eight hours at a work place should be about work. They can spend their time anyway they want after the work. Enforcing work ethics across the board, will bring productivity and quality of labor up to world standards.

I question the impact of remote work. I try to make the most of it when possible but there are others who abuse it not really doing actual work. There is a high turnover in minimum wage jobs which can explain low productivity. Any chance the low productivity in construction accounts for cost overruns?
