HA. This is the forst time I have pulled the Bulova trigger myself. After shooting this video I fell for the Gold Seville. Now added to my collection. Its just a fun addition. Love it. And that smooth sweep is great. AND. I dont like date complications due to having many watches in the collection. I dont like resetting the date all the time. BUT with a quartz version. Well then the date only goes out a handful time throughout the year. So in this case. I like the date complication.
I bought my first bulova when I was 17, finance it it was $300 back in 1988 to establish my first credit. I still have it amd still works amd still wear it some times. Now I'm really eye balling this green Seville 💚
This year. I've been on this kick for 70's Watches or 70's Styled Watches. During the 70's, Quartz was popping off, giving automatic movements WAR. A Quartz Movement is a MUST. This movement looks WAY SMOOTH. This Super Seville checks ALL BOXES. All are Stunners. The Green dial...FTW💚💚💚
I own a blue one. The dial color tone subtly changes with the viewing angle. Didn’t know about the movement until I saw it in motion on a video which clinched it for me. I now have many Bulovas in my collection and can’t wait to see what they do next.
I have my eyes square on teh gold. That white dial and verticle brushing and contrasted with the gold works so well. And that smooth sweep. This is def the territory where ALL quartz watches should head!!!! they would win many hearts back i believe
I love this watch. I own 9 automatic watches and being older I have had to get them serviced. owning an automatic gets expensive and so do watchwinders. Iam getting into quartz watches especially smooth sweepers with the VK31 . This is an ultra smooth sweep that is very impressive. It's both futuristic and vintage at the same time Agree that 10 bar shouldn't add much cost
Stone dail with decent water protection would really knock it out the park. I think it's a great alternative to a tissot. The watch really fits the "old money aesthetic" young people love and is priced attainably for this target group. I recently got the jet star. Love it.
I encouraged my local jeweler to add this to their Bulova offerings and ended up buying it in gold the minute I saw it. It’s such a good value. I swore I’d never buy a fake gold watch but there’s just nothing vintage (ie affordable) like this. Gold looks best worn casually and I’m not afraid to bang this one up. I do think the hands deserve a little more depth. They sweep almost as smoothly as my GS but lack the presence a beveled edge would provide. They’re a bit hard to see at some angles. Perhaps the indices could be slightly taller as well. Nitpicks. The only true disappointment is the water resistance. It’s a sports watch Bulova! I’d happily pay more for that. As is I’m still very happy to add it to my collection.
Wow such a great perspective. I also pulled the trigger on the Gold version and comepletely agree with you wearing it casually and dont care if it beats up a bit. And yes I think the sweeping second hand is very very fine and could use a little more heft to be able to see it better. But for the money. This cant be beat.
I am currently debating getting a Mido TV big date over this one. I know..slightly different inspirations. But if they released a stone dial as suggested in the video- I’m totally buying the super Seville
For sure this would have been the icing on the top. maybe in the future they will introduce a screw down crown. then you have certified robust elegance
Don’t need a screw down crown for 100M. Pair it with a Seiko diver and you’re set. I’ll admit that if you’re a minimalist who’d prefer a one watch collection the watch is a miss because of this. It seems like accounting cost cutting that’s going to hurt sales. They make some strange choices, like the 16mm strap on the MilShips (which I also own).
I have the green one and can't stop wearing it over any other in my small collection... 7.25 in wrist and it fits like a glove (thought it would be tiny)
Yep I pulled the trigger on the Gold. SOmething about it is super fun compared to my collection. I also really love the comfort and quality factor. Seriously this punches well above its pricepoint
I think the best part of this low cost offering is the Precisionist moveement. Its accurate and butter smooth sweep. Will be a great addition to the collection that might not get loads of wrist time. But when it does. Its just a standout piece that a pleasure to wear. My pick is the GOLD
I picked up the white dial with blue second hand version (can find them overseas for now) but overall all colors of this watch look awesome. The value and that sweeping second hand with the fluted bezel, perfect. Will get mine delivered soon cant wait
I will be getting one, but the 30m water resistance is nearly a deal breaker for me and something Bulova should improve upon IMO. Thanks for the review.
What is the wrist size of the model in this review if I might ask? I am looking forward to that green dial but with a 6.5 inch wrist, not sure if I have enough real estate for a 38mm in a square form.
I agree the extra branding at 6 was unnecessary and takes away from the aesthetic. I also wish they had more color ways. I would give serious thought to owning a black variant.
I get the water resistance raiting could be higher but seriously speaking the average person isn’t going past the pool with their watch. A real diver would buy a real dive watch. This is a fine watch and it’s being added. Love the gold colorway.
@ very much so. Quartz= $50 maximum in my humble opinion. And if you insist on quartz, you can get a “Swiss Made” Tissot PRX for less than $300. I admit thought that I like the TV screen case of the Bulova. I may spend $200 on it for that. $250 if I’m having a good day 😂 but that’s about it.
I'm increasingly convinced by "robust elegance" as a category. I think if I ever launched a microbrand that's where I'd aim it. You're 100% right on the stone dials - can you imagine that green in Malachite? Oof. I'm not personally put off by the precisionist branding. If I had to make a choice of what to change here, it'd be to do away with the cyclops. Bottom line, its a great tribute to the original, packed with a highly accurate movement. Well played, Bulova. Also at 1:46, is our model wearing a Breitling charm?
I love that watch, but wouldn’t spend the price to buy one. This really satisfies that itch for me, without me feeling like a gave something up (yes the glashutte is a much better quality, high end watch, but for whatever reason both watches speak to me equally)
The 30M WR is very disappointing. At 100M it would be a no-brainer. At 50M I'd do it with a little hesitation. At 30M, I'll probably still buy it but am slightly annoyed. Imagine them pricing up $200 and including 100M WR, quick disconnect on the bracelet, and a rubber strap option 😍😍
Would anyone know whether the Bulova - 97D120 bracelet has pin and collar bracelet pins or are they split pins? Appreciate it if anyone can help me out. I won't tackle resizing a bracelet with pin and collar due to lack of sensation in my hands. Otherwise I love to tinker with my watches myself.
I can tell you as I sized these watches up for the shoot. They are split pins. Not pin and collar. Pretty easy to resize. I liked the gold one so much I bought it! sensational value
@@marcusflack1523 Thanks, with that knowledge I can now size that bracelet myself. I despise pin and collar. Those watches that you have there are really beautiful. Cheers

Bulova nailed it with the design, but the price is too close to the Mido TV Big Date, which is an automatic watch with higher quality externals, a more desireable brand name, and nicer design.
I genuinely don't understand why watch companies would make a watch with the lowest water resistant rating, how hard is it to just start from 50m of water resistance? 😅😅
Most of Patek’s watches are only 30M. In Bulova’s case the answer is profits. They will have done lots of market consulting and determined what their customers would pay. They also won’t want to take sales away from other models that are more resistant. They’re also keeping the watch thin for that 70’s aesthetic. IMO it’s penny wise and pound foolish. Citizen (Bulova’s owner) would have another blockbuster like the Tsuyosa on their hands. If sales are strong hopefully they’ll upgrade it in a few years.
