running a BRAND NEW engine right out of box and full throttle is like taking the money you spent on the car and lighting the money on fire. breaking in lets the engine get properly lubricated by the oil in the gas, and it can adjust to all the temperature it will have when it runs.. please ALWAYS break in a NEW engine, its not necessary when taking apart and cleaning but i always do anyway, but thats just me. hope to help. good luck ,Matt

Proud new owner of a volcano s30. I've had 2 others. Both name brands (team associated, and losi) both 4-500 bucks each. And let me say, tons more reliable that both the others, and did not expect the quality to be this good, as it was 230 with 2 day shipping. Couldn't get a clear answer as to what fuel to use. But I broke it in and currently run it on 30% nitro 11% lube. It runs flawlessly after 2 tanks of tuning and re tuning I'd say it goes at least 45 or 50 and has enough torque to lift the front end of pavement, have put almost a gallon threw. all while still having a nice amount of blue smoke and running about 255°. Note:did not locktite anything. Just tightened everything before ever starting and I check it after every run(although never needed, just gives me peace of mind). If about if it's worth it or not...trust me...do it....now

hey ali i have the tornado s30 and a shockwave and was wondering what the out of box positions of the HEN LEN and IDLE needle
enough so you dont need to worry about. trust me, i have a cheapie engine that wasn't really taken good care of and after something like 3 or 4 years it still runs well.

what all comes with the tornado s30 when you buy it. and also when you say set carb gap to 1mm do you mean at idle or always open 1mm. if not set to 1mm how do you set it?

I understand why you would tune the cars carb rich being that you are letting it sit for an entire tank. My question is why you would just let it sit. I know that traxxxis recommends not running past half throttle on your first run. Any thoughts on this?

hey ali have you ever considered to switch to a different rc brand like traxxas or hpi?
@musicrockgeek if the car is brushless and has a programming card then you may need to turn reverse on by programming the esc with the programming card

Hi alishanmao i have a question i just buy a redcat racing shockwave in amazon and i dont know what tipe of fuel i have to buy 20% nitro or 30% nitro and if in the first start of the new car i have to left it one tank without acellerating it.

hey ali i have an acme condor pro and its my first nitro car and i want to know what type of fuel do you recommend for this car and what type of glow plug high preformane or medium and would this car be good for a begginer like me.
Is it safe to floor it from a dead start or will it tear up the motor?

@bigbassdave idk if it is 16 scale, but check out the olfna jammin nitro kits, i here they are good

Am thinking on getting the s30 tornado. I seen a lot of videos on starting and break-in, my problem is what's the best fuel ratio. I seen them use 20%,25%, 30%, which is right or which is the best for performance, and engine life????
20% would be best for the engine
30% you get more performance but more wear on the engine
Use whatever you like, there's a tradeoff- more nitro= more power, but shorter engine life.

I have a cart like that, it dies and does not pick up when it has a hot engine. I gotta let it cool to call again. Does yours also happen this?
Your fuel setting is probably too lean if it's causing the engine to seize, your piston/sleeve possibly damaged too. Easy way to tell if engine is running too hot; apply water (or spit) to the cooling fins in the cylinder-it should slowly bubble away. If it instantly sizzles and dances around, It's too hot and you're damaging your engine.

Hey Ali, do you think the redcat nitro rc vehicles are any good, because many LSH's claim that traxxas is junk but I seen to have great luck with the traxxas products. The reason I started looking at redcat is because of the price point that's significantly lower then the traxxas products. My nitro car idling is good but as soon as I give oit some gas it cuts out any ideas whsts wrong ?
low end needle valve is too lean. Those SH engines are horrible at keeping a tune..i have this same car and ended up putting an OS engine on it as the SH was horrible. the issue is there is a shaft that goes INTO the back of the engine attached to a 1 way bearing that attaches directly to the lower end of the crank pin..if the one way bearing wears out or the shaft you get air seepage through the back of the engine throwing your tune way off. which usually happens after about 4 tanks of fuel. if you have this engine i recommend you pull the starter assembly off as well as disasembling the engine to remove the one way bearing and plug the hole left in the back of the engine and using a starter box to start it.
failsafe is ok if the radio signal lost...but if the reciever power lost the car is uncontrolled and the carb will stay the position when the power of reciever lost...there is any remedy to aware the car run uncontrolled

Either is honestly fine. Just pinch the fuel line. Not cover exhaust pipe.
