MY OTHER TH-cam CHANNEL
I Like Watches 2 - / @ilikewatches2
WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use TH-cams lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and TH-cam deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

Anybody else think the 6 o’clock logo looks like a…um…rocket ship?
I think it looks like a cock and balls….😂
Yes look like rocket, my dirty mind also look like mojx, cos I have weak eyes slight 😝. But beautiful watch.
Exactly like a 🚀 😂
Don't look at the superior logo then as that 2 cocks and 3 balls 😅
If you really can't get over the 'rocket ship' factor, have a look at some twin quartz Seikos.
Andy services these mate and has all the kit as you know. He is back at his bench now too. He is the absolute expert on the Superior as it’s his most favourite Seiko by far.
A Seiko watch hitting the mark everytime ‼️ WOW
What a beauty love these vintage Seiko's, and what an interesting video, so interesting I watched it twice, and unless you know when it was last serviced, I would certainly get it serviced.
Wow! What a dial!
That is an absolutely beautiful watch, and the dial is so very Grand Seiko.
Great video, very intersting since most folks don't realise how important Seiko was during the history of this era. Also, when watching the dial of this one, it's safe to say that Seiko always knew how to make georgeous dials.
Vintage Seiko’s are some of the most beautiful watches out there. Thanks for sharing!
I have a similar vintage King Quartz - love these!
That King Quartz dial is SPECIAL.
It's a beauty. Also interesting that quartz accuracy has stayed more or less uniform since it's introduction compared to mechanical/auto watches.
It didn’t have far to go as they started out with a stated accuracy of half a second per day
@@ilikewatches FYI the "battery life indicator" might show up as 1 tick every 2 seconds like on my 1000m Tuna.
@@fdloop Idiot
@@fdloop It's a good job not everyone is a mechanical watch snob
The battery indicator function means that when the battery is running low, the seconds hand moves two places every 2 second.
Yup I got that in the end and wrote it on the screen at the bottom…thanks for confirming though
Beautiful watch. I think it looks great on this bracelet. I'll definitely have to take a look at your watches for sale.
Seiko quartz watches: the QT, QR, and QZ. This was the hierarchy of their early quartz movements, with SQ at the top.
That looks so good! What a gem.
I think its worth noting that the King and Grand lines transitioned(the grand line continued with some mechanical watches) to the quartz only movement watches bc this was thought to be the future, and fetched more money at the time. As Quartz got cheaper, seiko retired the K and G lines bc they indicated high end and quartz eventually lost its luster. I believe the indexing second hand referred to, is the a "jeweled seconds jumper." The Jewel is shaped like a pallet for jewel, slight more wedged shaped and stops the seconds wheel from bouncing. I've restored a bunch of 48xx and they are so well build luxuriously finished.
Hi Gary, I think on a low battery the second hand jumps every 2 seconds. Great content, thanks.
I'm pleased you're showing this Grammar of Design Seiko and sharing the quartz history. Commonplace as it is today for many, many years it was a difficult scientific and practical challenge to place quartz on the wrist, and have the batteries last. Citizen, rather than Seiko, had the most accurate watch in the world, the Crystron 4 Mega which back in 1975 did +/-3 seconds per year (not per month). Only one watch has bettered it since. The Crystron 4 Mega was $15.000 back then, almost exactly half the price of a new Ferrari 308 GTB, the 296 of the time period.
That Is absolutely gorgeous!
Yet another interesting watch with history. Regards
Do what you think is right, Gary.
I'd like to see what the og bracelet looks like. If you have time to go down the rabbit hole, I'll definitely be there watching. I find this is the most interesting stuff.
What a great lookin watch
That is a very beautiful watch. I would love to own one in that condition.
I have to agree, this has been designed and executed on a fantastic level. I truly wish all quartzes ran like that. If they could do it then, what is the problem of doing it now? Thus, I also don't see what's to gain by getting the movement serviced. Bracelet: I'm curious what the original would look like, but it does work quite well on this already. The condition would need to match.
I love those old Grand Quartz watches. How about a Seiko Grand Quartz 9943-8000 or a Seiko Majesta 9533-6000? Such cool models!
Awesome and special watches also positive host, about low battery indicator you can't access it but you will see the second hand runs 2 seconds at the time, i have orient watch doing it right now, also Oakley detonator does that.
Thank you
An update on your credor and bar bashed Grand Seiko would be nice to see!
Lovely watches. Thanks for the history lesson 👍
Beautiful dial!!!
I'd have thought the battery life indicator function would be ticking once every 3 seconds or so when the battery is getting flat?
Yeah that watches are cool and quality made. Those and the early GS.
Very nice. I think getting the movement serviced would be a bit crazy if it's working perfectly! If it ain't broke...
Beautiful watch 👍
Interested in buying this, hopefully not too expensive when listed.
Amazing watch. That's how the good watches should be made, to last!
Stunning watch 😍
Love the dick & testes emblem on the dial! Once you see it, you cannot unsee it.
Kudus, Gary, for the restoration enterprise. These watches are incredible.
Yeah the cock and balls was an interesting choice…
@@ilikewatches Assumedly not a familiar emblem in 1970's Japan,
Gary, this has really blown my mind. I want to buy it if you
what a beautiful watch
If you are selling it leave it on that strap. If you are keeping it do whatever makes you happy. As far as getting it serviced that would depend on how expensive it is to do, or if you sell it then let the buyer pick.
I bought a 1974 QR. Glad I diid its aweaome.
it's so beautiful!
Wow, a stunner!
What a great watch
It would be the funniest thing if the Grand Quartz seconds hand doesn't hit the markers precisely 😂 but jokes aside, that's a beautiful piece!
I would service the watch, find the original bracelet and then offer both bracelets with the purchase. Watch looks amazing!!!
If it ain't broke, don't fix it I say. Unless you find an authorized Seiko Tech who knows an expert with those quartz. Gary, maybe source a blue AR domed sapphire crystal which you can do yourself and slap a nice crocodile strap on that bad boy. They do have such an elegant retro look, vibe to them. Fully understand why you want to source an appropriate style and period steel bracelet for that wee beauty! Cheers good Sir...
It's absolutely gorgeous, what a find Gary👍
Wow, as I hear Gery talking about how older quartz watches are over engineered, so imagine if this older quartz would of been made with today's solar charging tech.
Wow what an amazing watch. Hope I win it!
Thanks for sharing. I would leave the bracelet, and as for the movement, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Absolutely lovely watch, makes me want to go find one for myself
@@fdloop okay, keep having a tantrum in the comments lmao
That logo on the lower front of the watch look a bit sus, what does that remind me of?
Fascinating how times change. Back then when the technology was new and exciting nobody wanted mechanical watches any more, these actually started quartz crisis. Today quartz movements have become incredibly mundane and big money is spent for luxury mechanical watches. We've come full circle.
It's unfortunate. All I can see when I look at that dial is "Popcorn" ceilings.
I agree, it is incredible. A beauty!
@@fdloop who hurt you bro, do you want me to speak with their parents?
BRING BACK BATTERY HATCHES!!!!
Absolutely love these. Some of my all time favorites. Unfortunately I just cannot get beyond the logo. I've had 3 different people comment on the "cock and balls" on the dial and it's absolutely killed it for me.
haha it was the first thing I noticed :D
Pristine
That dial? No thx!
I hate quartz
Why would you service a perfectly running watch? Makes no sense. Keep the bracelet.
To ensure that the next owner is less likely to have any issues and the buyer may like to know it’s just been serviced….that was my thinking
meh quartz
Tried and True TH-cam content creator revenue stream. Buy…Pump…Dump
It’s not a great model when you have one watch to sell 😂
My bad. I didn’t realize you’re only selling one watch for which you’ve produced a video. Carry on.
Might not sell it either as it’s just so nice…still undecided
Do you boo…
