From $50 to $50,000 - when someone is into watches, they're into all watches regardless of what personal preferences they may have towards their own collection. Teddy, I enjoy the enthusiasm as much as the expertise.
@@mankind8088 Why? People say this A LOT,Tag Heuer has a bad rep too. At Least give context behind your reasoning, I know Invicta doesn't always disclose what movement they have inside their watches, but they are built better than A LOT of these watches/SOME of these watches only had 40mm water resistance, which is a joke/200mm+/Solar and Atomic/ and a Sapphire display,is DEFINITELY a MUCH higher standard vs some stupid movement, when the watch will just break,I'm not saying Invicta make really durable watches,I'm just saying if you get them wet/submerge them, its not the end of the world/the watch will survive,I couldn't say that about some of these crappy and ugly watches, one example is that Cartier watch; The tiny female looking one/LOL I think it was 25.5mm,I mean what do you even do with that and it makes no sense from a marketing stand point LOL, it has Sapphire glass and its solar, but its only 40mm water resistant, that makes no sense ,it also looks terrible and it would DEFINITELY function terribly/the seconds hand isn't there,so its definitely not tactical/its just tiny junk,it has no features, other than the time and the Omega Speed Master doesn't make much sense either/it has a rugged LOOK and it has Sapphire glass,no solar,no Atomic and the worst and most laughable part is the 30mm water resistance, its a joke.
Most of these watches are WAY OVER PRICED/A LOT of these watches are ugly AF as well,I also would NEVER buy a watch at these prices, unless they have 200mm+ water resistance,Solar,it would also need to be Atomic as well, durability is also something that NEEDS to be thought about as well, diver watches are the only analog watches I like anyway and I NEVER buy used crap/I NEVER buy anything used and I NEVER sell things either; So watches/nothing I buy are investments, in that regard;Although they are investments in the fact that I can rely on my watches/a single watch in my collection, COULD help me stay alive/do its job in practically any situation, also MOST of these watches in this list wouldn't hold up in these types of environments/situations and they definitely wouldn't hold up long enough to be passed down, they aren't built well enough, also you forgot about the Mudman,Rangeman,Frogman,ProTreks,Gshock squares/A LOT of Gshocks, the Rolex Submarina is a good watch though, it lacks a few features/a diver watch, with solar and Atomic, would be MUCH better, also if it was AT LEAST 43mm/more like 44mm plus,it would be better/I also like watches that are 47mm+,but 43mm/44mm,would be the smallest watch I would be willing to wear,I have watches that are 58.3mm/52.4mm/50mm,these are the biggest sized watches and smallest sized watches I have. I know A LOT of watch collectors care more about brands, the good/smarter watch collectors, HOPEFULLY care about a brand for a good reason, like the movement/look/functions and they aren't just buying junk, because it has a name on it,but for me, it NEEDS to meet A LOT of criterias/I'm not buying watches, just because of a name, some names have proven their selves, but I don't buy watches, JUST for the name,I also don't buy watches/anything else, just, because its trendy/I don't buy things to fit in,if its junk,I won't buy it.
@@mankind8088 Honestly for these prices, every single watch made by these companies should MAYBE be made out of Titanium, even if its disguised titanium, meaning they can still keep the look their going for, but just add that durability, it should DEFINITELY have sapphire glass,it should DEFINITELY be 200mm+ water resistant,it should be solar and it should be atomic, no matter which watch it is,the value of these parts are DEFINITELY not worth the price tag anyway, your paying for a name and to be honest they should make ALL of their watches keep time to 1 second a year or just perfect it,even if Atomic is built in or if it uses a satellite of some kind, after all for these prices, their is no limit/for the price their charging NOTHING should be left out/left off,no excuses.
@@mankind8088 These seem like some decent watches, they are lacking some features/solar/Atomic/MAYBE glass quality on SOME of them, but over all they seem decent, not perfect and SOME of them COULD be a little bigger/a few of them seem a little petite, but maybe they can be improved in the future/I guess Rome wasn't built in a day. When I was a kid in the '80's I thought the calculator Casio was the coolest thing ever. Yes, I was on the math team in high school. Why yes, I am an engineer now.
Most of my small and humble collection is Solar. Absolutely love it! Arguably the most reliable watch you can own with nearly no maintenance costs or worries. What’s not to love?
I was looking to buy a Citizen Ecodrive... And was wondering how long the battery would last (after the constant discharge and recharge) glad to know it could more than a decade. Thanks.
Love Bulova. Always will. The Precisionist is fantastic. Anti Quartz snobs are idiots. I throw on my quartz all the time and I still love them. Teddy thanks for not being a snob. You’re a real watch enthusiast.
Got 2 precisionists and both keep time with amazing accuracy. Also have lots of Autos as well. These precisionists are great for work as accuracy is important in my job.
@@johnyoung8144 I love the precisionists. I’ve been looking at the one with the yellow secondhand for a year but just not ready to pull the trigger. I’m only allowed one new watch every six months LOL.
I bought a Casio Duro in blue for my work watch after hearing you review it a while back. I have been very impressed for the $50 I spent. I highly recommend it!
Would love to see Teddy do a full review of the Casio Oceanus, one of the premier quartz (solar) watches around! And they range from a few hundred to over $1,000, so they’ve truly got something for everyone!
I agree that the Lunar Pilot is too big but that's due to the movement. When I had to replace the battery in my LP I found the movement takes up the entire case opening, virtually no plastic spacer in there. The movement is a variant of the original Precisionist movement, the original Precisionist uses a 3V lithium cell but this watch uses a standard 1.5V silver oxide cell. This watch's second hand ticks 2 times a second to save power compared to the smooth sweep second hand of the original Precisionist. The battery lasted 4 yrs. in my Lunar Pilot. The LP looks big on my wrist too but I still love it. The dial in paricular punches WAY above it's selling price and the LP can be hand for pretty cheap.
I’ve got a seven and a quarter inch wrist and it looks fine. People constantly bellyaching about its size don’t consider that the average wrist is seven and a half to seven and quarter and many have larger wrists, chronographs need to be quite large with some presence.
@@TeddyBaldassarre hi Teddy. I received a mesage from an user with your picture but with a WhatsApp number telling me I am winner of a giveaway from you. Is real or Is a scam?
For people who are just entering watch collecting or simply want an everyday watch without breaking the bank, I think you gave quite a few options here. From my perspective, the best ones to consider are: Casio Duro, Casio Oak and Tissot PRX. Given their features, these are all watches that would be keepers even if they would be part of a much more expensive collection.
Hi do I’m a very simple girl ok I don’t care much about functionality I just want a very pretty watch but from a reputable brand is bulova a respected reputable name? Remember I just care about affordable with a name to feel proud of
@@benziarfadel4245 Absolutely Bulova is highly reputable brand with extensive history. Also Teddy's webstore is an Authorized Bulova Dealer and Teddy only carries reputable brands.
My quartz eco radio controlled pieces are bulletproof, reliable, accurate, good looking and maintenance free. Can’t go wrong. And they get the comments and look from the ladies, most importantly of course, Tissot prx 400 $ American , And no solar ?Such a hassle dealing with batteries. Not much of a bargain. Looks good though.
After buying only non-quartz watches over the last few years, I recently purchased a quartz Alpina chronograph and it’s awesome. It fits right into my rotation.
Teddy, I just purchased the Bulova Luner watch. Partly because of your recommendation and in-depth review of it. For me, it rests perfectly on my wrist. I would say it has been one of the best, feel good purchase I have made in awhile...the quartz movement is simply amazing. Thank you!
Glad! You like it! Bought a white panda this past weekend as well! Yesss I’ve heard the quarts movement is a hybrid of a Swiss and Japanese movement which is indeed fascinating and unique
I’ve had a lunar pilot for about a month now. My god it’s an incredible piece. It’s got the same layout and look as an omega speedmaster (looks like a hybrid of the speedmaster professional and speedmaster II) but the crystal goes over the tachymeter instead of going over the only the dial. The precision is incredible (after over a month the time still hasn’t gone off by a second yet) and it’s nearly as beautiful as a speedmaster with almost as good history (but not quite). And after owning automatic watches for a while, there’s just something nice about having a nice looking watch that’s inexpensive and doesnt require any winding or maintenance. highly reccomended
I guess it can't be too heavily Citizen focused, but Citizen "The Citizen" line is definitely at the top of my list for a higher end quartz once I can justify the purchase.
I just bought a Chronomaster by the Citizen, and yeah, that was my thought as well. It's spectacular. Solar HAQ, perpetual calendar, titanium with zaratsu, etc. Definitely worth the $2500 or so USD they can be had from JDM guys on C24.
@@gautambose GS would be my second choice, that's for sure. None of the GS quartz line have an aesthetic I really like. Now, if there was a Quartz Snowflake...
Completely agree. My Citizen Ti Pcat is by in far my most favorite watch, and due to the fact this specific line doesn't get any meaningful mainstream coverage, I never see anyone else wearing one.
I really love how Cartier (oh, and Bulgari too) hide the seconds hand on their quartz models. They're fully aware of the "cheapness" of the tick in the modern day, and sidestep it completely to provide something that still looks and behaves like luxury despite being quartz.
Very true. That, to me, is the biggest problem with a quartz watch, the "tick". An automatics sweep is so much more satisfying. One reason I like my quartz Breitling Areospace. Traditional minute and hour hands, but no ticking second hand. If you want seconds, you have the small digital display for that. I like the Brew watch a lot because of the better looking sweep
@@pianofry1138 they do. I have two Cartier in-house automatics, both have seconds hands. My parents both have vintage Cartier quartz Pantheres, and both have ticking seconds hands (the quartz ticking seconds hands went away some time ago, but they used to be there).
Recently acquired a GS "Sea of Clouds" (SBGP017), which has their 9F85 movement that's rated +/- seconds per year. It really is impressive to see the second hand being dead-on accurate for weeks on end, on top of the dial itself being a work of art. It's nice to have a watch that impresses you more as time goes by.
There's needs to be more HAQ watches produced. It really is a technical marvel and is wonderful to see. Mechanical is beautiful as an art piece but quartz really can be a great technical piece.
I'm trying to decide between the Mondaine Stop2go and the Hamilton PSR. Does anyone have any experience with these? Which would you recommend for quality/accuracy?
@@astorbeijer9424 Both have decent quartz accuracy (seconds/month); the PSR has better water resistance (100m vs 30m). The Mondaine is cool to see in operation, but personally I'd get bored with that one trick after a while - and the seconds hand runs fast to accommodate the trick, so it's not the best timing tool. The PSR requires two hands to tell the time, and that might be an issue if you tend to be using your other hand a lot. I wouldn't want to wear it while cycling, for example. The looks are completely different, so you really should get the one that *you* want to spend time with on your wrist.
The one reason I am grateful to be on the larger side--the Lunar Pilot is the perfect size for my wrist. It is incredibly comfortable and very substantial. I absolutely love it.
I have smallish wrists, and love the watch. Big, but wears well without looking like a clock.... My only quartz watch of my 30+ but one of my favorites.
I actually bought a CASIO CA53W two weeks ago without watching this video because I liked the quirkiness behind the watch and it was on sale for $25. And now that I'm stumbling across this video, it feels nice to see you chose a calculator watch. Feels very retro and I've had many people draw their attention to the watch. Quick conversation starter.
I really enjoy hearing Teddy's take on prices--and I'm being genuine. I'm someone for whom $400 is at the very top--if not outside--my budget, but on this video it was described as "not going to break the bank" and "inexpensive enough to have some fun." It's a cool--if a little depressing--look into the culture of higher end watch collecting.
Depending on where you are you can still enjoy access to a lot of great sub $400 options. I can comfortably afford up to $10k without worrying about resale or wear but haven’t spent that much yet, and take great joy in my current pieces which include a Casio A168, a DressKX and a Cocktail Time Manhattan. In another video I read a comment from someone who owns both a Seiko SNX as well as a Rolex Explorer and loves them both. Enjoy the hobby and cheers to affordable watches.
Keep in mind the prices listed are Retail Suggested Price and not for what they can be purchased for. The Tissot he showed I've seen at Costco with the Automatic for the price he listed for the quartz. Or if you want to go really different hit eBay and find an old pin and plate Timex automatic or hand wind from the 50's to the early 80's for less than $40. Sure they aren't high end but I've never seen anyone else wearing one when I'm out and about with my little Timex on. It's a fun way to get a little collection going for very little money. Have fun with it keep in your budget.
I recently bought a Tag Heuer Formula 1 on the rubber strap. I love everything about the watch. I paid $1200 for it which is normal retail price. Teddy, out of curiosity why didn’t any Tag watches make the cut? Great content, keep it up!
Teddy - did you overlook the Casio Oceanus range? Near Grand Seiko quality for far less - they’re incredible and rare - the simple 3 hand version even makes a great Oyster Perpetual or Aqua Terra alternative
Definitely agree Mark. They're really great quality watches . The problem is, at least where we live is the great difficulty in finding them locally. There are many great models but there's literally only one model that can be had locally where we live, and generally we would have to order from abroad, and there's the problem of import taxes and warranties etc. Maybe that's not the case in some countries though.
They are nice solar powered watch. They are great for what they are. They are nowhere a Grand Seiko. GS are mostly hand made. More hand made than a Rolex. Different categories.
@@rickjason215 Yes, totally different, there are some ugly models, but some very nice ones too. Not at Rolex or GS level of course, except for accuracy. Rolex state +/- 5 seconds per day which is +/-2.5 minutes per month! . The Casio is +/- 15 seconds per month!! And if it has WiFi band 6 or Bluetooth, it is totally accurate always! 😁 My GG-1000 Mudmaster with no outside connection has +2 seconds over the 6 weeks since I got it. Much better than all my 15 automatic watches!
Congrats Teddy on standing up to the anti-quartz fanaticism of the online watch world. Another brand that includes some stylish quartz models: Raymond Weil.
Hard to beat the Casio Duro on a bracelet, I enjoy it more than other expensive options I have. Been wearing it for 1.5 years now, my brother also wears it daily.
I have two, both on Nato straps. Great daily wears. I've had a black one for about 3 years and picked up the blue version about a month or so ago. Love them both
Ditto. I have three Duros…black dial on a Barton silicone strap, gilt dial on a leather strap with gold stitching, and a blue dial on a bracelet. Got the bracelet from A,axon. About $15. Ditch the OEM resin strap.
I got my Casio Duro for less than 40 bucks, the modding options are there and you can upgrade to sapphire. Also SKX/SRPD bracelets fit the Duro and its awsome.
I did the sapphire crystal mod on my Duro. That mod is a gateway drug for watch modding I think. Really cheap & rewarding ; I was surprised by what it did for the watch's appearance. I appreciate the tip about bracelets!
I love the Longines VHP Conquest. One feature is the hour adjust. A quick turn does the trick without disturbing the minutes and seconds hands. But even the minutes hand adjusts without the backlash I experience with many quartz watches. Also I tend to get annoyed at adjusting for drift and the VHP puts that to rest.
Exactly, this is the sort of collecting one will elapsed into after years of collecting. I feel that having this mindset and openness to all sorts of watches (quartz, handwound or automatic) is the epitome of watch collecting and I’m glad I’ve reached this part in this never ending journey. It feels like religion to me. Really awesome that you collated what you thought were the best quartz watches and shared it with the community.
One of my favorite quartz watches is the Certina DS-2 Precidrive Chronograph. It has a 1/100 hand as well as a seconds hand for the chronograph movement. It's probably the coolest quartz chronograph.
The Citizen Perpetual Calendar watches are also incredible value! Solar movement, connectivity with the atomic clock, and chrono and gmt functions are pretty incredible for the price
Agree totally, I have the PCAT varient, loads of tech, decent looks and none of the Seiko QC issues or lousy timekeeping, a nice stand in for my Omegas too. 😁
The Timex Easy Reader and the Weekender are great starter watches. I got the Easy Reader. It's 38mm but it has 44mm lug to lug which I like for my smaller wrists.
I like the Timex T80 watches. They're fun little watches, at 34mm, that come in a few different colors and designs. But the coolest thing is the expansion bracelet some models come with. Gives it that retro feel all for around $60.
One of my favorite quartz watches of all time must be Sinn UX with its hydro technology. Dial of the watch looks like a OLED display from your phone as it is filled with some special type of oily liquid. It is amazing and for divers really usefull as it can handle any kind of pressure. I just love how it looks in person if you have a chance to take a look at one deffinitely go and see for yourself
@@paulbonaventura4969 yes as an official Sinn dealer it's true. You have to send them to Sinn as it's not an easy battery replacement and for the watch to stay pressure ressistant as it is you have to change it properly
@@paulbonaventura4969 when changing the battery Sinn is changing almost the whole movement as it is in the thick oily substance and it gets a lot of wear over the time the whole replacement costs around 300 euros
I’m personally fond of the Citizen Stiletto Eco-Drive two handed collection. I love the thinness coming in at 4.7mm - 5.75 mm. They make for an elegant dress watch in the $350 - $650 price range.
My favorite quartz watch in my collection is the Bulova Accutron II Alpha. A little big but has that really cool alpha case with the awesome super smooth sweeping hand.
Had a hard time choosing between the Aquaracer Q or A. Glad I went for the quartz. For these cheaper watches I think there are lots of advantages with quartz.
Much needed video, I've had mechanical watches for some time now and was crazy about them but from some time now as a practical person, i think quartz is actually better than Mechanical and the finishing and design of the watch is what i care more
There are so, so many quartz watches and so, so few of them are solar. You got Citizen and some Gshocks. Is there a reason higher end quartz pieces aren’t solar?
In the luxury category, I'd go for the Casio Oceanus "Manta" which offers a killer combo of solar, titanium, tech and style. I don't see anything quite like it in this video collection. And it costs considerably less than the other luxury watches mentioned. Hard to beat.
Hi Ted, the 36mm Marathon Artic TSAR (WW 194027 quartz) is also an excellent choice to be considered. My Artic TSAR keeps time within less than 5 seconds a month, and the 300mm water resistance lets me where it anywhere all the time: shower, rain storms, washing the car etc.
Two watches I suggest are the Timex Expedition North Solar watches. Stainless steel case, screw down crown and caseback, sapphire crystal and 100m WR all for under about $150 bucks. The other watch is a poor man's substitute to the digital Hamilton is the Armitron Griffy. Stainless steel case and band, mineral crystal, 50m WR and nice, bright digital display. Case and display available in various color combinations, all for $40-70 bucks depending on the combo chosen.
I've had a few Citizen solar analogues and although I've really liked them I've had 1 die with power retention/battery problems and have the hands loosen so they move with moderate impact.
IDK why but Citizen doesn't have much love among enthusiast. I know they are doing great watches from the technical standpoint, but I just don't like their look most of the time. Bulova (which is also Citizen) is among my favorite watches though.
While I own a number of mechanical watches, the accuracy of quartz is very interesting to me but admittedly not super important. I have been looking a Grand Seiko models as they seem to get them right. Interested in other high-end thermal corrected quartz movements.
Lunar pilot FTW. I have owned mine for almost two years and i still love it in its entirety, it has deviated no more than two seconds and it is currently still telling exact time. :-) it is the watch you set all your others to.
I have a couple of 'Precisionist II' watches. (their now defunct entry line to 262Khz Quartz). One is Bulova's Tribute to the Tuning Fork Accutron - "the Spaceview". The Other, a Pilot / Field Watch with a "spiral like" Coin Edge Bezel (model 96 B 230) I too found that both perform better than Spec. While the more Expensive Models average about + or - 10 seconds a Year. These Entry Models are about + or -14 seconds a Year (the "smaller" movement"?) My Two are closer to the 10 seconds a Year variation. If my Cell Phone is not close by; I too use my Bulova as my reference standard.
I love my Precisionits and have been looking at the lunar. It's the best of both, IMO, smooth sweep, 300m water resistance, and quartz accuracy. I guess luckily for me I've worn the bigger g shocks for decades so I don't find this watch too big.
@@tufelhunden5795 I missed out on buying the Lunar Pilot this past Christmas on Amazon for only $325 US ! I keep telling myself, "Well, You were too busy buying gifts, 'like a Drunkin' Santa !" It was the "basic"- NO date. But I still intend to get it. ;-)
@@RoaroftheTiger hi guys, i have both the wilton precisionist 1/1000 chronograph, (early one with the tuning fork) and the lunar pilot. The Wilton is in the stated specs and fluctuates in its 10 seconds but dam i agree..... that second hand sweep is pretty much the smoothest. I really wanted an anniversary lunar pilot. But i wont buy it as mu lunar pilot is so precise. And..... the greatest thing about the LP is not many at all f c an carry it off. So we are the exclusive gang..
@@mahenderspider Of course, I agree with your conclusion. The "regular" Lunar Pilots are already Great. But as I assume the Anniversary model is NOT flying off the Shelves. I really love my Citizen diver which you featured here in this video. I got a heavy discount on it as the store I bought it was about to close. I found this blue Eco Drive Citizen which was worn by a salesman in that shop for just 69 €. It's in near mint condition, I only swapped the strap with a nato and just love wearing it!
Hands down the Longines Conquest VHP. The watch has many features that were not addressed, including a couple of power savings options, including one where you can set it to sip power if you're not going to be wearing it for a long period of time. Accuracy good to +/- 5 seconds per year. An amazing quartz watch, beautiful design, and comes in about $1000.
I'm in love with mine. Handy to have on a ship, where we sometime lose connection for our computers, and there's often signal dead zones for radio or GPS watches. I've been up late to 0300 seeing the hands come to life to recalibrate to compensate for magnetism and shock. The low power mode is really nifty too. It's also allowed me to bring my mechanical watches too since I've got a reliable source to set them to. It's really a 'smart watch without being a smartphone strapped to the wrist.
The VHP GMT version is also amazing. Great looks, great accuracy, good value. And, it has an amazing feature where you can set both timezones from your smartphone via the smart phone flash bulb shooting something akin to morse code!
I bought the Tissot PRX black quartz on sale on Jomashop at $265 minus a $20 discount! Best value ever! There are some good sales sometimes, you just gotta search and be patient. The blue one is the most sought after, so sales on that one are less probable, but stil can be found on a good discount price from retal. Amazon has them for around $330 and sometimes can be found around $310
Imo its still hard to beat a vintage Seiko King/Grand Quartz. The later generations are accurate to +20 seconds per YEAR and can be picked up for less than 250 usd. They have amazing dials , executed with extreme precision.
@@explorerjlc1743 I've bought them in very nice conditions for as little as 160 euro , that's around 180 usd. I used to import them straight from japan.
Tried quartz, just not my cup of tea - but I got my Dad a quartz Aqua Terra for Xmas and I do like that, & I'd buy a BULOVA Lunar pilot in a heartbeat just like everyone else would if they made it just a few mm smaller ( ridiculous, just don't understand their thinking, they seem to not want them to sell!!) Everyone loves the luxury life the problems most people have about buying luxuries are having enough money to buy one, but that won't matter if you have a stable financial life.

@@mike6348 I've seen different recommendation about Mr Edward Jones he must be very exceptional for people to talk about him like this. Honestly I will like to get in touch with this expert, how do I go about that?
Yes! Most likely the best quartz movement out there however the design of the Precisionists are horrendous! I would've definitely bought one if they weren't so ugly. 🙁
great video and provide a lot of options for different budgets. Just a quick note, I guess the Sternglas watch that was presented in this video is the Hamburg model instead of the Naos because the Naos does not have a second hand (the quartz version). I have my quartz Naos and is a very very good and confortable watch.
Picked up a Tissot Gentleman quartz blue dial for my first nice watch, in addition to my gshock and apple watch. Absolutely love it. Premium look and feel that won’t think twice about wearing daily.
Quartzes are great. Once you have an ETA or two, its hard to get excited about more of the same. I have a few quartzes I wear regularly because I like the design. And the entry level GS 9F watches are just an incredible value.
Would have been interested in seeing some more $1000+ watches and what quartz brings to the table. I wear my Breitling Aerospace almost everyday as my work watch, and it being quartz adds several practical features while still maintaining a classic profile.
It's good to reward ourselves sometimes . While I'm not one to spend on high-end watch (I spend too much money on travel, lol), I can appreciate your gorgeous and timeless watch. I love how it's a symbol of all your hard work. And i choose NKUWAN every time honestly
Now THIS is an original video that contributes to knowledge of watches effectively. Nothing against doing a video on a particular model, but one can only watch so many consecutive videos about Hamilton field watches and Longines diver watches.
I have just watched this video. Happy to see that some of my pieces have been mentioned in it. Recently I got in love with a Seiko Astron, a plain model. Not only because of the technology behind it. This Astron has absolutely fantastic dial, almost 3D appearance and the glass which is hardly noticeable. It looks as if there is no glass at all. For me Seiko Astron is definitely No 1 quartz watch. Generally, the very first thing I look at when buying a watch is the dial and its fell on my wrist. The type of movement is a secondary issue. However, if there are two versions mechanical and quartz, I prefer the mechanical option as an appreciation of the fine workmanship. Mr. Baldassarre thanks a lot for this video and many other.
I just got an OG Bulova Lunar Pilot and oh man, I love it! I've wanted one for so long but the price had jumped to $852CAD where it was even a month ago. I happened to check last Sunday and saw that it had dropped by almost $300CAD to $554! Needless to say, I wasn't going to miss my opportunity and pulled the trigger! I'm so glad that I did.
I am not confident in some of the Swiss quartz watches. The seconds hand of the Longines you featured, do not align with the seconds markers. Other Swiss quartz watches like Swatch, Wenger, Victorinox and Tag Heuer are also known for misaligned seconds hands. However, the Casio, Seiko and Citizen analog quartz watches align perfectly.
It is absolutely criminal that the Bulova Lunar Pilot and the Casio Marlin/Duro are not offered in smaller case sizes. The Bulova especially. It would be killer at 40mm.
I really desired a Mondaine Stop2Go, but couldn't quite justify it when balancing price vs likely wrist time (I'm more of a field watch person). Very happy with the lower-range version I got, though, even if it doesn't have that unique feature. I wear mine as a reference to a wonderful trip to Norway, which borrowed its railway clock design from the Swiss.
I bought a Lunar Pilot Bulova over a year ago.... AWSOME watch! perfect time keeping (less than 3s a year) good level of finition...cheap to buy but amazing value
I love the Breitling Emergency. A watch that can literally save your life is pretty awesome in my opinion and is a nice looking watch also even if it is alittle large do you the technology in the case. Thanks for the great video as always Teddy!
Excellent video Teddy, I have just two quartz watches, both ana-digi, one of them a Mudmaster with ticking seconds hand that hits all the markers bang on. The only thing is that my OCD is affected by the fact that many quartz watch makers don't bother to make sure that their seconds hand does. Even Tissot doesn't get it right, the one I looked at in the Tissot retailers was way off. The problem is solved with the Seiko high beat movements, every quartz should be high beat if they can't get the standard movement right.
I like that Bulova features a smooth running second hand on some of their watches. I bought two Presicionists and they are great time pieces. I don’t buy dead-beat quartz as that jerking motion gives me a headache. Nice selection. Many not for me, but interesting.

Had automatics for ages and thought quartz were not great (mainly the second hand not hitting the marks). Then I bought a Lunar Pilot (the black one). It was a revelation. I showed it to my Speedy Moonwatch buddy and he bought one...and then another. We are now quartz converts. I have three in my collection (including an Arnie). You go to grab a watch..and they are still running. You set the time and they are still within a second or so a month later. With the Arnie, you set the year and the date is right every day! The joy of Solar too! No new battery for 20+ years! Yeah so if you've been a quartz snob. Get a Lunar Pilot or a Solar Seiko and just relax...in the knowledge your mech/auto watches are inaccurate clunky toys! (Joking aside I still love my autos but...my eyes have been opened to quality quartz)
A watch is the only piece of jewelry that looks classy on a man. I heard that years ago from a watch collector, and it's true. Wear what you like. Your right.
I love chronographs, but only can afford the Chinese ST19 mechanicals (poor man's A.Lange 1815) The meca quartz gives the sweep and hundreds of dials to choose from. I understand that Miyota makes a better (more metal) version. I've had a few 7750 based watches before alcohol ruined me. Other than red rotor on my Oris, it looks like very modest movement. With a closed case back The quartz route makes a lot of sense. It's easier to entertain myself with 10 different qtz Than one used 7750 that probability needs a service. Always love your content.
How would you miss Breitling Aerospace in this lineup? It has practically been the standard of robust luxury quarz timepieces, with the signature twice-a-minute discrete hand movement, temperature-compensated quartz movement with specified accuracy of less than +/- 10 seconds a year (mine does about +3 seconds/year), battery life of 3-5 years and a hybrid digital/analogue display that has all the functions one might reasonably need. Missing the elephant in the room, so to speak. Be well.
I love my Seiko Flightmaster, I think it’s an iconic watch from the company. I don’t own one, but have been looking at the Casio Oceanus line of watches. They are a JDM watch line with really nice specs and a competitive price. I already own several of the watches listed here and agree that they are great pieces. Don’t ignore quartz watches.
I have a $250 Casio Edifice with Bluetooth. Does all I have seen here and a little more. If your not star struck over brands Casio delivers fantastic value in my very humble opinion. And Teddy thanks for the great overview of offerings to consider. Great video!
From $50 to $50,000 - when someone is into watches, they're into all watches regardless of what personal preferences they may have towards their own collection. Teddy, I enjoy the enthusiasm as much as the expertise.
BUT RUN FROM INVICTA.........if I ever receive one as a gift I'll donate to a kid so they can practice⌚repair
😂😭😭🤣🤣😭😭😂😭

I had a silver Casio calculator watch back in the 80s also. Now my beaters include g-shock square, and my $15. Illuminator 👍.

I've got the g-shock tough solar-atomic. Always know exact time on the job. Love it
Solar watches are definitely cool
Love my citizen eco-drive. 13 years on the same battery, the thing is durable and still looks great

Love Bulova. Always will. The Precisionist is fantastic. Anti Quartz snobs are idiots. I throw on my quartz all the time and I still love them. Teddy thanks for not being a snob. You’re a real watch enthusiast.

Great watch especially for the price
Would love to see Teddy do a full review of the Casio Oceanus, one of the premier quartz (solar) watches around! And they range from a few hundred to over $1,000, so they’ve truly got something for everyone!
I was really surprised (disappointed) that no Oceanus made the cut.

Mondaine is a highly underrated brand. There are a variety of options. It's a great all-around watch. Thanks for featuring this watch.
The Bulova moon watch would absolutely dominate if it came in a more sensible size. I love it but just way to massive for my 7 inch wrist
It’s a best seller waiting to happen when they want it!
@@TeddyBaldassarre absolutely

Tissot prx 400 $ American , And no solar ?Such a hassle dealing with batteries. Not much of a bargain. Looks good though.
After buying only non-quartz watches over the last few years, I recently purchased a quartz Alpina chronograph and it’s awesome. It fits right into my rotation.
I love that you respect all watches for their different merits.
I want it now.
@@DeadLemonzit’s better than a Daytona or speed master. The bulova 262 is the best movement in the world

I bought a Casio Dura watch. It is really cheap and has good performance. It is worth recommending to everyone.
I guess it can't be too heavily Citizen focused, but Citizen "The Citizen" line is definitely at the top of my list for a higher end quartz once I can justify the purchase.
If I was to buy a quartz it'd always be a grand seiko
I just bought a Chronomaster by the Citizen, and yeah, that was my thought as well. It's spectacular. Solar HAQ, perpetual calendar, titanium with zaratsu, etc. Definitely worth the $2500 or so USD they can be had from JDM guys on C24.
@@gautambose GS would be my second choice, that's for sure. None of the GS quartz line have an aesthetic I really like. Now, if there was a Quartz Snowflake...
The only place that casio belongs is in the garbage
Completely agree. My Citizen Ti Pcat is by in far my most favorite watch, and due to the fact this specific line doesn't get any meaningful mainstream coverage, I never see anyone else wearing one.
I am surprised there was no mention of the Casio Oceanus series. Think S100 T200, but also many other more expensive versions in the series.
To be fair I don't think Cartier ever really had second hands. Maybe I just don't know Cartier that well.
@@pianofry1138 they do. I have two Cartier in-house automatics, both have seconds hands. My parents both have vintage Cartier quartz Pantheres, and both have ticking seconds hands (the quartz ticking seconds hands went away some time ago, but they used to be there).
Rolex Oyster Quartz is the only accurate and reliable Rolex ever made.
@@porscheoscar Probably, but remember a Rolex is not a watch. It’s investment. That’s all it is. A commodity
My only quartz watch of my 30+ but one of my favorites.
my wrist is not that large and yet the Lunar Pilot looks and feels great on wrist. i recommend it.

Oceanus are really great watches. Love the ocw 5000

They are nice solar powered watch. They are great for what they are. They are nowhere a Grand Seiko. GS are mostly hand made. More hand made than a Rolex. Different categories.

Too bad it doesn’t have a soul, unlike my Seiko SKX007.
You got Citizen and some
Gshocks. Is there a reason higher end quartz pieces aren’t solar?
I think I saw some Seikos had a solar option.
Recently bought a square full gold citizen day date quartz with a gold flake/dust dial. Gorgeous! 🙏♥
In the luxury category, I'd go for the Casio Oceanus "Manta" which offers a killer combo of solar, titanium, tech and style. I don't see anything quite like it in this video collection. And it costs considerably less than the other luxury watches mentioned. Hard to beat.
I am not removing my Oceanus from my wrist, absolutely love it.
My quartz watches have a military background - CWC SBS Diver and Marathon TSAR. Rugged watches which are perfect for grab-and-go.
It's nice seeing quartz watches get some love. I think Citizen is a solid recommendation and you can't wrong with the Arnie! 💪😎💪
Teddy great work as always! At 500 - 600 dollars range you could consider the Junghans chronoscope!
Perhaps will eventually have the opportunity to get those at a more reasonable price. Meanwhile, I'm quite content, to stare at the Buttery Smooth motion of the Second Sweep Hand ... All the Best !
That’s a massive win right there! Good for you
Thanks for the varied price range. I’ve just got my first gshock casioak and I love it
Hands down the Longines Conquest VHP. The watch has many features that were not addressed, including a couple of power savings options, including one where you can set it to sip power if you're not going to be wearing it for a long period of time. Accuracy good to +/- 5 seconds per year. An amazing quartz watch, beautiful design, and comes in about $1000.
see my comments above re the VHP(2 1/2 years and running perfectly...unbelievable!)
Agree. If only it was a tad smaller (38 mm) and 100 m WR....
@@gwenolecarre3032 there's a 36mm version, but discontinued. Might find it used.
WOW
YOU SAVED SO MUCH
I find the lack of Casio Oceanus in this list to be disturbing. It’s a must for every Quartz list
The quartz I'm considering right now is the Hamilton Khaki Field 38mm. That's a handsome piece.
Imo its still hard to beat a vintage Seiko King/Grand Quartz. The later generations are accurate to +20 seconds per YEAR and can be picked up for less than 250 usd. They have amazing dials , executed with extreme precision.
Agree, and my grand seiko is hand built, hand polished, I think they even grew their own quartz? It’s built to out last it’s owner!
@@puZAEdr the vintage King and Grand quartz models were hand polished and brushed aswell. Very stunning dials with snowflake and diamonddust patterns
I have it on a rubber strap from Barton and it rarely leaves my wrist. If I'm dressing up I'll go with something else, but I just love my Duro.
Less than $250? I don’t think so… unless it’s very well worn…
@@explorerjlc1743 I've bought them in very nice conditions for as little as 160 euro , that's around 180 usd. I used to import them straight from japan.
Im a Eco-drive guy and will continue to be! I love the reliability and good looks Citizen brings to the table...
Casio Oceanus line deserves some love. Especially their high end models has some great finishing for the price.
Timex Weekender Chronograph eliminates the ticking noise issue.
Tried quartz, just not my cup of tea - but I got my Dad a quartz Aqua Terra for Xmas and I do like that, & I'd buy a BULOVA Lunar pilot in a heartbeat just like everyone else would if they made it just a few mm smaller ( ridiculous, just don't understand their thinking, they seem to not want them to sell!!)
Cheers mate 👍👍
I really like my Bulova Moon Watch. I have several other Bulovas with their high frequency autoquartz movement. They're really awesome.
Everyone loves the luxury life the problems most people have about buying luxuries are having enough money to buy one, but that won't matter if you have a stable financial life.
I agree with you and I believe that the secret to financial stability is having the right investment ideas to enable you earn more money, I don't know who agrees with me but either way I recommend either real estate or crypto and stocks.
Wow so Edward Jones is really known, I was able to withdraw my profit of $35,000 after investing $4000 in Mr Edward Jones platform some days ago
Mr Edward Jones is obviously the best, I invested $3000 and he made a profit of $28,000 just for me in 15 days
@@mike6348 I've seen different recommendation about Mr Edward Jones he must be very exceptional for people to talk about him like this. Honestly I will like to get in touch with this expert, how do I go about that?

Smooth sweep Bulova Precisionist are probably my favorite Quartz watches.
Yes! Most likely the best quartz movement out there however the design of the Precisionists are horrendous!
I would've definitely bought one if they weren't so ugly. 🙁
@@muratveli Hahaha, the dial is a tad busy, but changing the band can really help compliment the design better than the factory bands.
great video and provide a lot of options for different budgets.
One of my daily driver is a 39mm hydroconquest quartz on rubber strap, reliable and just the right size
I was hoping for Casio Oceanus line or the Spaceview to be featured. Ah well.
Now THIS is an original video that contributes to knowledge of watches effectively.
Nothing against doing a video on a particular model, but one can only watch so many consecutive videos about Hamilton field watches and Longines diver watches.
Bulova watches are really good watches with a great legacy. They are next on my list to add to my small collection.
They are great value imo. Check out the Curv. If you don't like the band you can obviously change it
And I added a Bulova quartz watch to my collection. It is a nice dress watch but I find I feel less pride towards it than even my Seikos.
Love the Casio Duro, wish it was available in 34-38mm on steel.
The Casio Oceanus series offer a ton of value for their price.
I bought the gshock for work. It quickly turned into my fav watch and is on my wrist more than any other.
Maybe because I have automatics and quartz in my collection. I think true watch enthusiasts collects both
Hopefully we can see a Casio Oceanus on the channel soon
If we are talking about quartz watches, Bulova Curv Chronograph watches look really nice to me.
It is absolutely criminal that the Bulova Lunar Pilot and the Casio Marlin/Duro are not offered in smaller case sizes. The Bulova especially. It would be killer at 40mm.
Not just quartz but solar radio-controlled quartz watches. Seiko, Citizen, Casio. These JDM watches are a fantastic value!
I agree - surprised it was missed. My favorite quartz
Yeah, the mechanicals don't have to stop at indices and just keep going.
I like that Bulova features a smooth running second hand on some of their watches. I bought two Presicionists and they are great time pieces. I don’t buy dead-beat quartz as that jerking motion gives me a headache. Nice selection. Many not for me, but interesting.
pretty sure the second hand in the video is not really a second hand but a chronograph hand, but correct me if i'm wrong
I love Victorinox. I have 2, very tough. Known as the Swiss G Shock. Great video, thanks.
on your website it would be cool if I could make a login and build a virtual collection to want to buy, im saving up for a longines from your store
We are actually working on it. Lot of site updates in the works this year. Great suggestion!
@@TeddyBaldassarre no he's been industry for 15 years Watch time content in addition to what you're getting here sent your inbox I'm going to look at DCA 53W from Casio referred to as I struggle to have a look at what was that entry door anyone W have the 8168 entry door this one to me though differentiates from him displays are going to find Calculator function be for everybody but do you like 1980s nostalgia if you like just something that's a little bit out there it's fine easy to love 35 to 36 in actuality going to deliver to you
Just won an Ebay Casio Ediface for $65. Looks new and was described seller refurbished. Wanted one for years.
I think quartz will make a comeback
It's easier to entertain myself with 10 different qtz
Than one used 7750 that probability needs a service.
Always love your content.
REALLY like the Sternglass.
I have a German Type B flieger from Aristo that has a Ronda quartz movement and is lovely.
Be well.
Almost million of watch enthusiasts watch this, it's good for aerospace to be left out to keep the price down :D
Nothing beats the time accuracy and the sweeping second-hand movement of the Bulova Precissionist
The Casio Oceanus line has some great value pieces too. The I have the S100 black dial and T150 light blue dial. Both under $500.
