The way he stares at the crowd when the audience were laughing because he was playing sonata no 14 is classic. He looks like that principal who every kid is afraid of and therefore his stares are enough to keep the class quite lol.
Though the whole atmosphere and composition he playing were funny, Zimmerman ended with gentle and soft. He was saying to Bernstein: "happy birthday,my friend".
I was so pleased to see Krystian, play like this, we have both aged, . Since covid, so little has been shown of these Maestros, , wasn’t long enough, would love to hear him play , ie, Griegs concerto, My favourite, xx. Australia 🇦🇺
Incredible!!! I cannot believe what I've just watched. One of the best youtube videos I've ever seen! Where did you find this? I hope Mr Zimerman doesn't mind it being uploaded. It's so rare to see any new video of him. Thanks!
I guess once you get to a certain stage in your musical career, sometimes you want to connect to the audience not just through music but through genuine interactions and laughter.
Incredible, to see my favorite pianist trying to do some weak music comedy like Victor Borge did, and this comes as an incredible surprise, in a negative and positive way for me. But I'm glad to see that he can use humor as well, becasue he is a very normal cool person and not only a serious weird pianist like many others are. I am a pianist and I can do acting comedy style, so this encourages me further to pursue that route.
@@preludio423 Wasn't it also one of the last concerts of the BPO with Sir Simon Rattle. (Because Zimerman was referring to the BPO as "Rattle-less soon"!) 🤔
Because in German theres a word „Ratlos“ which translate to at a loss of advice. And with him saying „rattel-los“ which sounds like „Ratlos“ he implies that they don’t know how to do their stuff anymore. Or something like that
He is a great pianist and also composer, entertainer, actor, comedian. 😂
Yess hahah
He is a piano technician as well.
Ah so you came here before uploading it?
오
@@bestpranks1884 question is , would he be piano technician if not born in poland -)
I wasn’t expecting Zimmerman to entertains us on You Tube .
Yes it’s a surprise TH-cam now
A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.
OMG - I've been enamored with Krystian in his performances from 20+ years ago. This just makes me love him more!

Incredible music by Ludwig Van Beet... and Victor Borge...!!!
The great spanish composer El Beethoven, as Victor Borge would have put it :-)
Though the whole atmosphere and composition he playing were funny, Zimmerman ended with gentle and soft. He was saying to Bernstein: "happy birthday,my friend".
Yes sure! The best wishes
sadly that is not what he meant

Sehr gut!!
Loved the inversion at the beginning lol music is fun

When Victor Borge played the opening of the Moonlight Sonata on "The Muppet Show", the bust of Beethoven that was sitting on the piano fell asleep.
what a gem! can't believe he'd do something like this and i'm loving it!
not gonna lie, his comedic delivery is not bad either XD
Yes he is amazing!
He is one of the greatest pianists of our times
He has a great sense of humor😀😀
Sehr sympathisch.
So viel Freude kann man mit Musik bereiten.
This man is pure CLASS
He makes every Pole proud.
Nice Victor Borge tribute :-)

Nice to see Rattle going back to his roots, playing percussion . . .

You saying music is not genuine interactions
some great pianist did not like it and stayed away to the audience
Absolutely hilarious.
From one genius to another😊
Right!!!
talented and humble
The orchestra was amused.
Good way to tribute Victor Borge
okay jokes aside that transition to happy bday was smooth asf

Simon Rattle 3:39
Was it after The Age of Anxiety concert in Berlin in 2018? I’ve been there!
Yes!
The last concert of Simon Rattle with the Berliner was the 22th of june 2018. They performed Malher's sixth symphonie.
I knew it was going to be victor borge-esque from the first 25 seconds in. My musician’s intuition told me.
You are a clairvoyant !
You are simply the greatest!
na, Meister Zimerman, da wurden doch die beiden Hauptkomponistinnen nicht genannt, Mildred J. Hill und Patty Smith Hill ...
Happy birthday Mastro
This was actually full of surprise and Ich lernen ein neu "mot" wort : ratlos !
So it was when this famous piece was premiered...😘
How are you doing today my name is Eric moore
May I ask which year was this performance? Appreciate!
I don’t know sorry
It was 2018, because it is the year where Bernstein would have celebrated his 100th birthday.

The 16th of June 2018 , the 22th was the last concert of Berliner Philarmoniker with Rattle. The 6th Malher's Symphonie.
where did you find that video?
At the end of the concert of Bernstein sinfonie
Does he compose pieces for piano?
I don’t think so
😆😆😆👏👏👏💐
Very clever
I was just surprised to see oboist Sarah Willis so serious, as if she wasn't finding anything funny. She is always smiling and in a good mood.
Please correct the Name Krystian (not Kristian) Zimerman. Thank you! 😇

Wow, exactly 24,200 views, lucky me!
Congratulations 😂
Is that arrangement available anywhere?

If you have a difficulties with a musical piece, and a great musician mocks that very piece, you are tempted to give up on it for good.

Can someone explain what is “Rattle-less”, and why this is so funny?
Means without Rattle like a sickness
