Hey heads up: I encountered the 0 byte storage issue with my device before while messing around with a custom rom, the fix should be a factory reset. Hope this helps!
I've had this issue too. Several times with different phones .It took some messing around don't remember a factory reset alone being the solution. Think one of them was a Samsung and odin with a repartiton played a part
@@limpbiskit66I also have a Samsung, the cause of the issue was a feature of the custom ROM formatting the micro SD card to be used as internal storage then removing said micro SD, I think since the phone expected the storage to be on the SD which wasn't inserted it didn't know what to do. A factory reset from the recovery mode fixed it for me, but your experience could vary. It could absolutely be to do with partitioning, but overall it's an issue I can't find very much about other than my own experience with it and how I fixed it.
Yep, it just needs the data partition formatted. I kinda skipped over that step while installing lineageos to my phone and it showed I had more than 100gb free but trying to install anything from app store it gave me insufficient storage errors.
i've had an old samsung galaxy note(gt -n7000) with similar problem but it reported that there is about 33 GB of data on a 16 GB storage i needed to re flash it and it's working fine since

How absolutely gorgeous is the HTC 8X... And the UI was so modern and flowy. I've always wanted a Windows Phone device, idk why, but never got around buying one at their prime. The UI clearly passed the test of time. I should probably get a Lumia 1020 and/or a 950 XL. Oh, and the Red Magic is overclockable from factory. It's the only phone with the SD888 that runs at a higher frequency than the rest.
You got lucky with the Samsung. Some Android phones brands now come with credential persistence even after reset (to prevent data theft by extracting the nand, not unlike iDevices) and Samsung is usually extra iffy with this due to Knox. I was 100% expecting it not to clear the pin after factory reset but maybe the option for this was not enabled in settings by the previous owner.
Not to mention that in the latest security patch (August 2023) nothing you do can bypass the phone's FRP lock. Tried bypassing a Samsung Galaxy A32 5G for 4 days straight, using almost a hundred tools I found on the internet, the only tools that were actually very close to bypassing it were SamFw and another tool (Android Utility?) that I can't recall its name. But then Android hides the USB debug message, intentionally breaks the package manager so APKs can't be loaded and when you try using the talkback method, it starts yelling "Stop" at you. The closest I got was with browser exploits and entering my own Samsung account to download a temporary launcher, but then all APKs I try loading wouldn't install and when you reboot the phone it's back at the Hello screen.

(4:44) I believe the original owner may have purchased it from a third-party seller as a grey import from Singapore or purchased it while there. Singapore and Japan are the only countries I can think of where Sony Xperia phones are officially sold, though.
Reminds me of that one guy who installed Tiny 11 on a windows phone. Might make for a fun project my guy. Also I'm impressed that gaming phone still works. That took a huge beating.
First of all, i think we definitely need a collab w/ Wade or, at least, James at some point. Second, Windows Phone was pretty nice with pretty fast and simple UI, even on a low-end hardware. Another question: didn't Samsung ask for a Google account after hard reset? Weird.
As someone who used multiple Windows Mobile and Windows Phone devices (my last one was Lumia 635), I quite like them. Plus coding for both was way easier for me since I can use the languages I already know.
I actually dont repair screens when it have small crack. Actually, more over, i buy a previous gen with a first crack. Usally keep same platform for 3-5 years, can go thru few screens and one motherboard in this time.
I personally would be keeping the gaming phone as it's so powerful, it can last you for YEARS. As for the Windows phone, I'd keep it too because it shows an important period in history where even Microsoft was trying to have their stab at mobile operating systems. The Vodafone phone is so underspecced and so low end, I could only give it to another family member, or a child to use, same for the A23, you're lucky it wasn't FRP locked and on the latest patch of Android 13. I tried FRP bypassing a Galaxy A32 5G for someone I know, and it was the latest security patch (August 2023), none of the bypassing programs worked on it, so essentially it's junk unless the guy gets the motherboard replaced. The only thing I'd sell is the Xperia.
What an interesting phone lot! It's always a bit of a gamble, but you seem to have scored some great deals. Looking forward to seeing more tech lot videos from you. Keep up the great work Hugh!
I wonder how Hugh has not encountered an android phone where he resets it from recovery and it FRP locks. I have watched many videos of his and they all just allow him to reset from recovery and setup like normal.
Oh hey nice, finally another Sony phone crosses your path, which is always interesting to see, so I hope you'll dedicate a video for it's teardown assessment and repair
My phone has a small crack in the screen and rather than trying to replace the screen I just put a screen protector on it. Now I don't feel the crack and can't see it as it was very thin.
Windows phone was kind of funny, in some ways they were ahead of time in some there were questionable decisions made, but what kind of sealed the deal on it ultimately failing was Microsoft being too late to the market. Not that uncommon issue for Microsoft. Though one thing I liked about Windows phone is how it was universal and Microsoft ensured updates, so none of that cutting updates crap from Android, that was even more common back then. But I would actually prefer having more competition in mobile, other than Andorid vs iOS, like way too many people like one or the other, but I just use Android because its flaws are easier to live with. And spying doesn't really feel any worse than Google, I mean Chrome calls home too. Also kind of shame Nokia so hard insisted on Symbian instead of taking Android temporarily while they tell to guys developing Symbian to go nuts with making new overhauled version that catches up. :-D And only Apple wouldn't be tracking you, because they would be iTracking you. :-D
I noticed you never mention the "Google Account Lock" (FRP Lock) on any of your videos, even though I would guess at least 2 out of ever 3 phones you reset will have it enabled. Is that because circumventing the Google Account Lock might be considered illegal so you choose to leave that part out of the video?
it's because his phones didn't have an FRP lock, he did mention passwords at the beginning of the video tho. Now imagine if all of them had FRP. Man. I was given two FRP locked devices to bypass. One, a Cat S41 was running Android 8.1 Oreo and the other one, a Samsung Galaxy A32 5G, was running the August 2023 patch of Android 13, which it auto updated to, while on the Hello screen and as soon as I connected it to my wifi. The problem is all of the tools I tried couldn't bypass the Samsung while the Cat phone I managed to bypass without using a computer, through some browser exploits, a modified APK and a launcher. That's the dark side of fixing and/or reselling phones, FRP.
@@RealEpikCartfrenYT How do you know, it did not have FRP lock? FRP lock in on by default, unless the previous owner did not log in to his google account on this device, which I find highly unlikely. Besides, if you would read my initial comment again while paying attention, I was not asking, why he did not mention it in THIS video, I was asking, why he did NEVER mention it, even though it is a pretty big topic in android phone recycling, as even you seem to be aware of it.
@@NebukadV Unless I'm misremembering, I'm pretty sure when FRP is active you're required to connect online to continue the setup. He had a "skip" option on the Wi-Fi setup, so I assume it was not FRP-locked. But ultimately it is a gamble.

The tiny 11 is only on lumia 950xl
@@aegwasherndryrer Ah. I was hoping to see him possibly install tiny11 but oh well. Ty for letting me know.

First of all, i think we definitely need a collab w/ Wade or, at least, James at some point.
Second, Windows Phone was pretty nice with pretty fast and simple UI, even on a low-end hardware.
Another question: didn't Samsung ask for a Google account after hard reset? Weird.
I think the asking for a Google account is only if frp is turned on before the reset
@@JoelGerson1 Less likely, especially on any device that is newer than 2018
As someone who used multiple Windows Mobile and Windows Phone devices (my last one was Lumia 635), I quite like them. Plus coding for both was way easier for me since I can use the languages I already know.
@@JoelGerson1what's frp?
@@tydshiin5783 Factory Reset Protection. It basically works like the iCloud lock you see on Apple devices.
A Phone so pro it still uses micro usb 😂 3:18
I actually dont repair screens when it have small crack. Actually, more over, i buy a previous gen with a first crack. Usally keep same platform for 3-5 years, can go thru few screens and one motherboard in this time.
The 0 bytes issue is caused by a non supported storage format
What program did you used on computer to reset the locked samsung phone?
How did you remove the Google lock from Sam A23?
I wonder how Hugh has not encountered an android phone where he resets it from recovery and it FRP locks. I have watched many videos of his and they all just allow him to reset from recovery and setup like normal.
1.44 in, that htc is a Windows phone, isn’t it?
Yes. It is HTC 8X
Windows Phone was perfect.
Crazy fast, clean and intuitive. I miss it dearly.
Ever since I was forced to move to Android, I dread using my phone.
Oh hey nice, finally another Sony phone crosses your path, which is always interesting to see, so I hope you'll dedicate a video for it's teardown assessment and repair
wow not working but actually all working 😂
I see what you did there with that battery size I still think your friend looks like Chris from Mr Beast
My phone has a small crack in the screen and rather than trying to replace the screen I just put a screen protector on it. Now I don't feel the crack and can't see it as it was very thin.
My fone is a Sony Xperia 10iv Last year's model! 5g my last one was a Sony Xperia 10ll 4g. I'm in the UK
I will gladly take that Windows Phone off your hands, Hugh. I used to have that same one and miss it so much
Buying lots unknown is nice, but you need the knowledge and ability to bring them to selling condition and find a buyer willing to pay your price.
I like the idea of buying these and reselling for a profit. Also giving each (maybe not all) a second life.
Mister jeffery i have pixel 5a with a cracked screen should i repair it and is it worth in 2023
It's strange that Samsung phone didn't kept FRP blocked after doing hard reset.
Nostalgic seeing HTC 8X! Thats my phone few years ago!
V Pro battery is actually 2950 mAh, not 3950 :)
Hey Hugh, I'm sorry to bother you but why are you buy those android phones for what reason?? I was just asking
Jeez, i was waiting for video like this. Thanks
Watching this on a Samsung A23!
Amazing video mate!
That Red Magic is the potential attendance for the next restoration video.
Another Aussie yelling at nuggets. I have subbed.
I still have a Nokia Lumia that works perfectly. About to go back to it since it is pretty much the dumbest phone I have.
@@RealEpikCartfrenYT
How do you know, it did not have FRP lock?
@@garirry
Could actually be true.
But still: Why does he never even mention this?
Is FRP maybe just not a thing in Australia?
so which lot did you purchase it from?
I'm so interested in buy and repairing and reselling electronics. In your opinion is it worth it .
I’d be interested in the HTC Accord 8x but the shipping and I’m primarily interested only because of the Beats part
You are lucky the Samsung didn’t had the FRP on.
Hugh I love your content and I hope that you will 1 million subscribers. Keep the good work up sir.
Good luck getting that sort of resale value for that Red Magic 6 device. Those ZTE Nubia phones have next to zero software longevity. They launch so many of them that they are pretty well vaporware the week after you purchase them.
The xperia is probably the most valuable there, those things are expensive
5:57 what do they even want your history for? are they gonna sell me looking up "what is 15 divided by 3"?
windows phones were pretty good for the time, except for the marketplace which is what killed them. you can watch youtube on a phone with 512 megs of ram without any hickups lol
So how did you get passed the FRP protection on the Samsung
That was very lucky find! Congrats 😁
