I just got mine yesterday in orange, first ride this morning and the Summit 1 has so far exceeded my expectations with power to spare going uphills. Highly recommended
Velotric is really competing now with every good brand now with their new releases, specially the folding version since it wins against every folding bike so far in its price
that one is actually nice probably the best bike he has reviewed so far as really versatile for trail or commuting, but also efficient because torque sensor
I had a terrible experience with my Discover 1 and someone else I knew had a bad experience with his Nomad 1. Since then I've switched over to a different company now, But coming back and seeing what Velotric is putting out... Velotric redemption arc? I am impressed! (Edit, nope, turns out they are still terrible)
Mine Arrived Broken! I received my Summit 1 this past Friday. I ordered the bike along with a tilting stem and a half twist throttle. While I was unpacking, it I noticed damage to the front wheel (rim) in the form of deep scratches/dent about the size of a quarter. I assembled anyways, without the aforementioned extras, anticipating that Velotric would stand behind their products, since the Discover 2 that I had purchased just 2 weeks earlier arrived intact and their customer service seemed good. I charged it and took it for a spin. I stopped for a break and when I went to use the throttle, I no longer had power from the motor although the battery was at 81%. I am pretty comfortable around bikes having worked at 3 different bike stores as a teenager and early 20’s, as well as with electronics as an adult. After checking and rechecking all wires and connections I noticed that the brake light stayed on. I knew that the bike was not giving me power because the brakes override the motor. I adjusted the silver set screw located inside the rear brake lever and bingo, I had power back. My battery is also not reaching 100% capacity and the charger light stays red and won’t turn green no matter how long I leave the battery charging. I am talking overnight here and have put it through several charge cycles. So here are the problems I had so far: 1) Damaged rim. Solution: I contacted Velotric and they offered me a $40 refund. An insult! I contacted the again and they agreed to send a new replacement wheel. They should have done that from the start! confirmation that it has been shipped. 2) Motor suddenly lost motor power. Solution: I fixed it myself because Velotric cannot be contacted on weekends. 3) The stem that I purchased was missing the top screw and the head of the bike’s original top screw was too large in diameter and would not fit the stem’s hole. The stem’s vertical hole was drilled too small. Solution: Luckily, I had spare Allen bolts around or the stem would have been useless, so I kept it. I had to mechanically reduce the size of the bolt's head to get it to fit in the hole. Most people would have given up. 4) The half twist throttle’s wire plug does not fit into the bike’s existing wire (different diameter)- solution: Waiting for Velotric to respond after they requested pictures of the box, Fedex label and UPC code. Luckily, I kept them. Currently waiting for Velotric to respond again. 5) Battery not charging to 100%. Solution: I contacted Velotric and they asked for pictures of the battery, charger light showing red and the display screen showing the battery’s charge percentage. Still waiting for a response. Summary: I had a great experience with the first bike (Discover 2) that I ordered from Velotric, so I decided to buy as second. The second experience has not been anywhere near the first. Quality control seems to be an issue, as well as less than desirable customer service. I just can’t get over the $40 offer for the damaged rim. I am a repeat customer, I bought a brand-new bike and expect nothing less than a “fully functional and undamaged product” and don’t believe that it is reasonable, at least not for me, to receive such an offer and have to look/live with the damage for the life of the bike. I like Velotric and understand that “things happen”, but this involved "one too many" problems that would have been a real challenge for the average buyer without a mechanical and electronic background and a lot of patience, and they would likely be stuck with a non-functional bike at the moment. I really hope that Velotric improves their quality control and customer service. So far, I feel as if rectification of the problems has become an act of congress and have taken up a lot of my time, which I would prefer to spend having fun instead. I will update when all the issues are all hopefully resolved with more favorable comments and thank you for reading my “venting”. In the meantime, proceed with caution if you are considering a Summit 1.
@20:56 where you stopped and didn't make it to the top, the issue was your climbing technique. I know it sounds counter intuitive but next time, don't stand up, remain seated and you should make it. I was taught this 30 years ago and it changed my riding.
I have a Discover 1 that I have made several upgrades to. Basically, I was trying to turn it into this bike; I got most of what I wanted but I'd love to have the torque sensor and 750W motor. I told the Velotric folks that they should widen their marketing for this bike, showing the optional fenders and rack and selling it as a do-it-all bike, rather than just an "entry-level mountain e-bike". About the only mod I would make to a Summit 1 with racks and fenders would be switching to bars with a bit of pullback so I could sit more upright. Great new model!
@CrabbyPattydelight If you're on the fence, just buy it. I wish I'd of 2 months ago. There is plenty of power and range and shifts like butter. I put 55 miles on it on my first ride. The only negative is that bars are 2 or 3 inches too wide. You feel like you're doing pull up they are so wide. Ordered a bar cutter to cut them down a few inches. Problem solved!
@omarreynold6782 the peddle assist is terrible, no power unless you're in boost mode, but I hear they are working on the firmware to address the issue.
Great review. This seems like the happy medium between the wired freedom and the Aventon Ramblas. Very mountain bikeish with long range yet still has a throttle. I may pull the trigger on getting one!
i watched this video maybe 5 times before i finally made up my mind. this was the best purchase ive ever made, for mental sanity of getting out of the house every day to just ride around and enjoy life. i cant think of a single thing wrong with this bike. i do wish i put on the fenders right away... but they are in the box right now. any chance you could do a guide? great video btw. edit: the original seat sucks.. so i would recommend and upgrade - any standard bike seat style will fit which is awesome.
Yes!!! Hopefully they'll put that new display on it, bring up the amps a little, give it full suspension & that waterproof treatment. That's the one I'll buy😊
@@brentmassingale216114.4 ah battery is kinda small nowadays, so I think they should give it 20ah battery as well. Also, I hate the fact that their old e-bikes are only 25 mph top speed, I am glad they listened to my email and upgrade it to 28mph.
Own two Velotric ebikes and they are really good bikes. Hopefully, they will step up with a 1500 watt 60 volt bike soon or I'll be purchasing a Wired Freedom.
I always look forward to your E bike reviews . I have a Velotric Discover 1. Great bike, but it’s it’s heavy to lift to fit in my elevator . ( I’m 73 ).. Will you be reviewing the new Velotric Fold 1? A lighter, folding ebike by Velotric would be great. Hope to see your review. Thank you.
So many brands now i rarely see a review of the one i got ,its the Hiboy P6 , its a good bike for the price i guess . Probly go with the Revibikes Prowler i really like the review you made of it
Seems like a really nice bike. I'm becoming more concerned about the weight of e bikes as some are real heavy weights. The range seems excellent. I also appreciate that it looks like a bike and not a motorcycle.
Great review, actually i would strongly advise against power washing your bike close to the motor or the battery, only power wash areas far from these parts, there is literally a motor repair workshop that explains how 90 per cent of motors that end up in his workshop have water damage due to power washing near or directly on the motor. waterproof is very different from you can power washing proof.
you should review the aipas a2, it's literally the BEST budget ebike at a price point of $699!!! goes 30 mph at pas 5, has front fork suspension, a rear rack, mounting points in front and rack and also one for water bottle holder, brake light, headlight, blinkers, horn, and fenders
anything under $1500 is basically cheap and not meant to last. my normal not so great pedal bike cost more than $699 lol and the battery alone on my ebike is more than that Dont buy an ebike for even $1000. its just a waste of money
I gotta finally ask, what the heck do you do with all of the bikes you test? Do the bike builders just sent them to you, you do a great job with them but, how do you get them?
From what I know some they get to keep and some they have to return. I think one of his videos he shows a storage unit with a bunch of bikes. Person near me reviews bikes and he sells them on face book market place.
Good video, Kindly make reviews on the Vitilan i7 Pro 2.0 Also, do some more technical capabilities and comparisons with similarly rated bikes to help buyers make informed choices. Please.
I have been watching a lot of your videos. You do a really complete job with your reviews. I am looking for a hunting e-bike to help get me into the woods in the morning and back out at night without getting sweaty. I would be going up and down hills through off road trails and crossing creeks that might be 7 - 10 inches deep. What drew me to this bike is the waterproof rating. Do you feel like this bike would make a solid hunting e-bike? I know most hunting bikes seem to have 4" tires, but it seems like the 2.6" tires would be easier to maneuver. Love to hear your thoughts on it?
They all get those bikes for free to advertise, and if you use their promo code, they get a 1% cut off the sale. After the free, totally unbiased ad, they ship them back.
Around the 21-minute mark, I could tell by the tone of your voice you were having ZERO fun with this bike...lol I'm not a mountain bike guy, but bike seems solid. I did order a Discover 2 thought, can't wait to wash my battery...lol
What app do you use on your phone to measure speed (MPH)? I have the Nomad 1 (per your recommendation) and just LOVE it … but I don’t believe the speed displayed on it 🤷🏼♂️ I believe it says I go faster than I actually do This eBike (the Summit 1) might be good for my wife. p.s. I use an Apple AirTag to “Find My” Nomad eBike Thanks 🙏🏻 Keep up the good work
Hey why dont you just get one of those digital bike scales where you hook the bike and just lift it to see the total weight. This way you can avoid doing math.
Hello Very good video, I am very interested in getting this bike, I was wondering, if on the other hand since the engine is in the back, to ride semi ruff trails like you did, does it not make the wheel vulnerable due to the weight on the back? What concerns me is that if something happens to the rim, motor, hub, freehub, you have to change everything and therefore $$$$. Thanks
I do want something like this but those handlebars are too wide to fit into my apartment, which sucks. It really limits what I can get until I figure out another way to store my bikes
Mountain bike with Altus??? Come on they should have at least put in Advent X, Cues or Deore 10 speed... And hub drive means it's effectively more of a commute/hybrid than actual mtb due to spring mass.
Looking at this and the nomad. Want to set it up for hunting so it will be mostly used in the woods and I’m looking for a good power to get up hills which would you recommend between the two?
for hunting I would say the Nomad just for the fat tires. but this bike seems to handle trails just fine but maybe more of an actual mtb and the nomad is meant for rougher terrain
I have a question, I’m torn between getting a gotrax tundra with 20 ah battery and single 750w motor or boombike s1 with the dual 1000w motor and 22 ah battery. I have a cheapo regular tire mountain ebike 500 w single motor and have probably on trails that have parts with sand on them. Any input would be greatly appreciated! I’m in northwest Florida so sand can be pretty fluffy
Thank you for the video. Does anyone know if the GPS tracker is self-powered in the event the bike is stolen and the thief removes the main battery? Does it have cruise control like my Velotric Discover 2?
Nice bike but a bit overpriced when compared to similar styles with larger battery, larger motors or even dual motors at around same price. Thanks for the review!
@@Key-ey1zmI've invested a few 100 hours over the last couple of years researching ebikes and scooters in all price ranges. There are reasonably priced E's on the market that are competitive with the overpriced and there are plenty that don't warrant the tag. For what this one offers it's overpriced imo. ✌
I purchased the Summit 1 about one month ago. Once you have bought a bike from them, the customer service and their sense of urgency is non-existant. I suggest you all purchase a different brand. Velotric is a poor company.
Have experienced the same after purchasing the Summit 1. Poor customer service. The bike is solid and enjoy it, but I don't expect to have any issues resolved by the company if/when they come up.
American friends: "a good value" means a good philosophy/principle, for example: "they share their parent's values" or "that's a good value to have". If something *represents good value for money* , then it's just, "good value" eg "this bike is excellent value" because it's an abbreviation of "value for money". Bonus nachos for Real Housewives fans: the opposite of being classy isn't being "classless" - that means having no social class - it's just "not classy". Speaking of things with no class: if when you overhear sports reporter guys on TV and your soul tells you that "winningest" isn't a word, your soul is correct. The word for that is successful or just "with the most wins". Of all time 😉 Anyway, thanks for another great review man. It's a pleasure everytime 🙏
It’s more powerful, faster, and softer ride, but weighs like double. Depends on what you’re looking for I guess. I just just rode Flume Trail in Lake Tahoe on this bike, video coming soon. Both bikes are great, but quite different. Personally I prefer the Summit 1, 65 lbs on an Ebike is fine for me and this bike rides very nice.
🤔 FallOut Decontamination Friendly (IPX rating of battery and bike), Knobby Tires for more stealthier Off Road, and good Torque Get-Out-Of-Harm's-Way power. And Decent Price. A Comms-Out, short distance "Live Messenger" Winner! 🎉 👍 Are YOU Ready? ✝☦
I wouldn't buy this bike. To high in price for what you get. For 1500 euro I've got a 2000+ watt rear hub EKX x21 e-bike that will beat this toy everywhere. The summit 1 looks slick tho.
Sad that they used their first customers with the first run of e-bikes as guinea pigs now they got plenty of money to put into nicer bikes. rule of thumb always wait with a new company. Don’t buy their product right at the beginning always wait a few years.
A bit overpriced in my opinion, same with discover 2, it’s just a plain looking e-bike with 750w nominal with 1200/1300w peak, it shouldn’t cost more than $1500, but this e-bike cost $1799 and with tax, it’s a $1900 dollars, similar price to the E-Cell Five Star.
@@DearSX I just bought a BeelCool Bee Ranger e-bike which is 1000w nominal with 1300 peak, 110 NM of Torque, and it has full suspension, 20ah battery, it’s $1700 on the website, but I only paid $1500($200 discount from the “name this E-bike” campaign earlier this year), they do free shipping and no tax, also with 2 year warranty instead of 1 year on most other e-bike companies. The display was originally a non-color display, however, they later added Color display as a preorder bonus which is nice of them for doing something like this.
Well totally off topic, sorry but don't know how else to contact you, hope you see this . The new X2 try to buy can't ordered from Amazon , ordered cancelled by seller freego will not talk to me am amazon is well amazon also you go to order now it shows $2500.00 go to check out $6000.00 freego Is really messing up and thay keep sending emails thanking me for buying a X2. Any advice?
Velotric Customer Service does not recommend that mods or changes be made to the Summit 1 bike. They will not advise as to any changes and will void their warranty if the customer makes any mods or changes . Velotric Customer service takes forever to resolve even the smallest warranty claims and ships parts by the slowest methods possible. I would not buy products made by Velotric. The bike is not dropper-post ready and they contract out their customer service, so you do not speak with a real Velotric employee and they are not helpful

This eBike (the Summit 1) might be good for my wife.
p.s. I use an Apple AirTag to “Find My” Nomad eBike
Thanks 🙏🏻
Keep up the good work
Hey why dont you just get one of those digital bike scales where you hook the bike and just lift it to see the total weight.
This way you can avoid doing math.
I have the Magnum Summit, I hope you find that brand of EBikes.
mashallah❤❤❤first
Great video, just ordered mine today! Can you link your cell phone holder you are using?
Price is $1999 now. Was ready to order but I’ll wait till the price comes back down
What is your opinion on twist throttle vs. thumb throttle?
What do you do with all of these bike you review?
Hello
Very good video, I am very interested in getting this bike, I was wondering, if on the other hand since the engine is in the back, to ride semi ruff trails like you did, does it not make the wheel vulnerable due to the weight on the back? What concerns me is that if something happens to the rim, motor, hub, freehub, you have to change everything and therefore $$$$.
Thanks
Wish they shipped to the uk 😢
I do want something like this but those handlebars are too wide to fit into my apartment, which sucks. It really limits what I can get until I figure out another way to store my bikes
They’re easy to cut down with a cheap hardware store tubing cutter.
Do you think I can attach a Burley wagon to the rear? I usually tow my son when riding :)
Yes
Can you do a review on any aventon ebikes??
What's the lightest, fast ebiike ( 42 mph with pedaling) under $3,000?
Can you review a 29-er , preferably with dual motors , because I can't seem to find them. Let alone with a 21" frame size..
Mountain bike with Altus??? Come on they should have at least put in Advent X, Cues or Deore 10 speed... And hub drive means it's effectively more of a commute/hybrid than actual mtb due to spring mass.
It works well as an emtb. I use mine mainly for single track and it performs very well.
Looking at this and the nomad. Want to set it up for hunting so it will be mostly used in the woods and I’m looking for a good power to get up hills which would you recommend between the two?
for hunting I would say the Nomad just for the fat tires. but this bike seems to handle trails just fine but maybe more of an actual mtb and the nomad is meant for rougher terrain
what app ur using for speedometer
Absolutely NO chain slap... Top Tier
What GPS app do you use?
pretty sure its just called Speedometer
Thank you for the video. Does anyone know if the GPS tracker is self-powered in the event the bike is stolen and the thief removes the main battery? Does it have cruise control like my Velotric Discover 2?
I wonder if you can turn the headlight & taillight off?? 🤔
Definitely could unplug them
@@TailHappyTV
Is that really the only way??
Man I hope they make a switch for it
video 13 of asking for your himway e bike
💯‼️
As of 6/1/24 $1999.
nice
Nice bike but a bit overpriced when compared to similar styles with larger battery, larger motors or even dual motors at around same price. Thanks for the review!
can you name a few?
@@Key-ey1zmI've invested a few 100 hours over the last couple of years researching ebikes and scooters in all price ranges. There are reasonably priced E's on the market that are competitive with the overpriced and there are plenty that don't warrant the tag. For what this one offers it's overpriced imo. ✌
Give examples or links. Otherwise your comment is worthless.
@@robwatson7401 You do the work! WORTHLESS COMMENT!!
TailHappyTV is almost to 100 thousand subscribers. Wonder what video he will upload when he surpass that monumental milestone?
Dude are you all way high on all these eBike reviews
Customer/warranty service at Velotric is the worst ever. Terrible people at Velotric. I regret buying the Summit 1.
Of all time 😉
Anyway, thanks for another great review man. It's a pleasure everytime 🙏
No “step through” model? 🤷🏼♂️
THEY JUST RAISED THE PRICE FROM 1700 TO 2K WHILE EVERYONE IS DROPPING PRICES. COOL MOVE! WONT SUPPORT SUCH BUSINESS. NOT A REAL MTB ANYWAYS.
Can this be a road bike better than t1?
It’s more powerful, faster, and softer ride, but weighs like double. Depends on what you’re looking for I guess. I just just rode Flume Trail in Lake Tahoe on this bike, video coming soon. Both bikes are great, but quite different. Personally I prefer the Summit 1, 65 lbs on an Ebike is fine for me and this bike rides very nice.
Esse barulho de catraca é muito chato!
The ekx is an electronic dirtbike, can't compare
@@denniswhite6013 It's not a dirt bike. It's got paddle's. And it is way cheaper. I stand my ground.
Torque is pretty high on this bike and so is battery, so I think it's about average in price.
Agree. If this was 1200 or less then I would be tempted.
This guy just post bogus. How about a fully drain battery test on range.
affordable? it's $1,800 dollars!
A bit expensive for what it is, $1400 should be the price of this e-bike.
You got at least 20 feet of air on that jump
