Hello Brian and Maricel, I watched Terrance and Beth's channel and even gave what I could on Petreon it was not much but it does not matter, it came from my heart. I believe in what they do. I believe in what you do. The easiest thing in life is to be silent, to sit down and not stand up for good. Thanks for standing. Maybe alot of things in this world would be different if good people were not silent when we need to stand and be counted. I have never been to Cebu or Bohol, but I have been to Manila, taken a 10 hour bus ride to lower Luzon, stayed for a month in the province. Some of the country is breathtaking beautiful. I slept on a mat on the floor with no aircon and even liked it. I have seen first hand conditions of people living over a sewage ditch, without hope. To be a light and good person in this world gets harder by the day. God bless them and God bless you. I am planning to move over there as I am engaged to a wonderful Filipina myself. I have also been watching Terrance and Beth's channel for years. It has been inspiring how much work they do to help their community. I think they should be given a liscense they have earned it. I'm glad you decide to give your personal thoughts on this awful situation. What I find so sad is the people that need help now or not getting help. Yes, it awful for Terence and Beth but they can move on with their life, but who going to build a home for the homeless. I think it wonderful you decided to take a stand and share your beliefs. It does give Terence/Beth more credit that someone that knows them personally shares what I thought was a balanced approach to what going on in their personal lives. Just the stress in your face Brain makes it more real of what Terence/Beth are going through. I do hope your wrong in that it does not end poorly since hundred of people will suffer if that happens. Gee, I just did the math and I think they built 30 plus houses, which means if they could keep building homes the numbers affect will be in the thousands that will keep suffering by living in the weather instead of a dry home. How can someone defend causing people to sleep in the elements? I did not think Terence/Beth was perfect, but what I did think was many people where being helped and I hope in the near future will go back to being helped.

Thanks Brian for standing up for Beth and Terence.I am one of those who stayed with Beth and Terence in their quest house.I witnessed the good works they did each day.They both have very good hearts and truly care about the people there.As I said,I stayed in their quest house for 2 weeks.They never asked me for a dime for their generous hospitality.They even feed me every day.Terence also drove all the way to Tagbilaran to pick me up.(about a 3 hour drive) I told him in an email that I could take a bus but he insisted on picking me up.I will never forget that.I have nothing negative to say about Beth and Terence.

Never, ever violate your visa, always check with local government on rules, and follow advice given by government officials. No matter how good your cause might be, you have to follow the rules of the country you live in. Sorry to hear they have these problems.
Brian - this is a very nice posting that you made and you have explained the situation in a very clear and concise manner. I am going to play devil's advocate and say from my background from reading law in University many years ago; the law is not interested in what is morally right and wrong BUT what is legally right and wrong. I have faith in the legal system here and that all aggravating and mitigating circumstances shall be considered in order to allow for an equitable resolution to this saga in the hopes that the viewers continue to get their videos, the poor get their help and the government gets their compliance.
Renaissanceman86 Sir you are partially right. Man has the capacity for moral structure, the innate ability for justice. Good government that have existed not all have their laws constituted and genesis on morality. In as much their legal infrastructure is based on morality. Constituted laws are adjudicated on justice for all, defend legal and moral standards, rights, life, property and the pursuit of peace. If governments are only interested or pursue the legal letter of a law(s) abstract of morality, then there can never be true justice. Many law professors, agree on justice based on morality. Or did we miss some law classes in our law curriculum?
Renaissanceman86 Salamat Po, for your response. We are the only living creatures with moral capacity. Even at that it has to be develop and implemented by moral values. Moral capacity is God given, created within us. Regardless of our background uneducated to in position of authority any laws should be adjudicated with morality. Unfortunately there are the aforementioned who choose to adjudicate justice without the implementation of morality. That’s why the application of law is without justice let alone mercy.

But the problem, didn't to get permit first before start accepting donations to helping the unfortunate people in Talibon and even there is a warning already from the DSWD still accepting. Donor's tax in Phil under TRAIN law need to know both T&B, hoping that there is no big trouble or any violation coming to them.

my original opinion I shared on their channel was get the license first before they do any charity and as for Terence he knew he is holding a tourist visa only so that means he can not do any work nor do any charities. I know they wanted to help with less fortunate but somehow we have to avoid any illegal activities. hope goes well with immigration ...

I like their channel ,They help poor people ,But in Philippines there is a law and it involved money . I hope they continue helping but no money involve not accept money from someone . Help by giving things . I hope they will pass this problem .
It's sad what happen to them. But, like what "Normadic in the Philippines" said, the law is made so that other people with a bad intent can't take advantage of others. Just to be clear, I'm not saying Terence and Beth are bad people. What I'm saying is that there's a lot of people running a scam in the Philippines. There's a lot of them taking advantage of the bad situations happening with the people in the Philippines. For example, collecting donations and funds for the people that suffered on major Typhoons or calamities. People that suffered from the war in Marawi. Collecting donations for the people that suffered and was affected from landslides, or just people suffering from poverty in general. The law, rules, and policies are made to prevent bad people from taking advantage of others. It's not there to prevent us from helping. I hope everything works out for Terence and Beth. The other important thing that "ALL FOREIGNERS" need to remember is not to get involve with the Politics in the Philippines. You cannot join in political rallies, or any rallies in general. Do not be involve with public demonstration, and public speakings. Foreigners are banned from participating in pro-government “partisan activities” in the country. It can be for or against the government. Joining, supporting, contributing or involving themselves in a rally, assembly, gathering, whether for or against the government. I'm just saying this because there's a lot of people making this mistakes. It's just something to remind others, to prevent you from future headaches. Just a friendly advice.

There are a lot of jealous people and “know it all’s” in the world ....I was born in Arizona but lived in the Philippines during my growing up years....I’m glad that I am now back in the US....not too much drama here on my end !!! well said Brian. Good friends are hard to find. indeed, time will tell. I follow Terence & Beth's channel every now and then too, and I must admit it is very entertaining, for lack of a better word. I wish them well and I hope it will not end with Terence's deportation, although I doubt it will. They did not commit high crime for goodness sakes. They did not however follow some rules and I'm sure it will all come out in the NBI investigation and/or court. There will be some sort of punishment and we all hope it will not be too heavy to pay for them. You'r right, there should be no room for haters and uncouth in anyone's channel.

But this is not a matter of TnB doing genuine charity works, it is the question of doing it without a legal permit or abiding to PD#1564 and holding a tourist Visa status which he's not allowed to do charity works. That's why they are being scrutinised.

Yes, they were trying to do good, but many errors and if anyone pointed out an error, their so called friends and subscribers called them trolls and tried to toast them. What will these subscribers do to help them against the Government of the Philippines now? Everyone is talking about praying. No one wanted them to be corrected before. Each one of us will need correction at some time in our lives, and I have been corrected many time in my life. I have expressed my opinion about your videos many times but was never called a troll here. In fact you have replied to a few of my dumb questions and made videos about the land for sale in your area when I asked you about the quality and cost of land there. Same here, need to be careful to follow all the government laws in a foreign country. We were subscribed to their channel before but moved on, so we know of their work and we see them every once in a while in other expat video channels. How their situation all came to this is somewhat surprising. Good luck to Terence and Beth and we really enjoy watching Brian and Maricel's videos.

They are good Samaritan who's sent by God..we cannot deny it for everybody seen their videos...but and the only But here is they never comply with the papers needed by the gov't. They should follow the laws of this country....if they only follow rules needed and ask by the gov't i think there's no problem with it because they are helping others....just a thought...Godbless every one.

Looking back and watching Sir Terrence video i already have that feeling that along the way they are going to be in trouble! I'm so delighted to watch how many people they have offered and given help. Obviously it goes on public and being misinterpreted by lawmakers and maybe local citizens. And because of the details being said in public like clothing or cash donations this caught the eyes 👀of the lawmakers and here they are now even tho they try to make it legal & still trying to get all the paper work done. I will say, even in my workplace we are not allowed to accept cash or gift from family members or else we get in trouble too!!

Bing and I are two of the thirty plus people who have spent personal time in Talibon with Terence and Beth. We have seen, first hand, the passion, transparency and genuine kindness of these two people extended to others around them from morning through night! We personally paid for their hotel stays in Cebu because we love them as friends and in fact, as family! Our prayers are extended daily for them in a hope that in the end of all this it will turn out even better than the beginning!

You just stood by and supported your mates. Something that is rare these days so good for you. A valuable lesson is to be learned here? No matter what the situation or your circumstances in the PI if you do not have the right paper work to do whatever it is you do here, the situation is never going to favor you. Brian, my first message to you a long time ago--Have you got all your paper work sorted? I really hammered you on that, and I am sure you will remember that as I saw the immense effort you were going to and just knew, heaven help this go ahead guy if he doesnt have it all sorted bcoz the vultures would circle. Now--in a way, this has become glaringly true for your mates. The seriousness of what has transpired has surprised me greatly. I never expected a deportation notice and certainly not anything like jail time? A fine maybe, but anything more than that is not fair --- even in my mind. I'm now thinking that all records once fully investigated will be a big help in putting this all to bed? Let's hope so as whatever else has been done, it doesnt deserve such a heavy penalty.

Thank you for your input and defense of T&B in this matter. I really respect you and your work ethic and your levelheadedness. It saddens me that you are stopping your feeding program at church, but it is very understandable with what is going on now. It’s a real shame that good work is being halted. Hopefully they will be granted the license they need which they tried to get and continue on with their work.
Heidi R: Brian and Maricel can still continue the feeding program by way of donating funds through Pastor Timio's church (i think that is the church they and T&B go to). Pastor Timio would then be responsible for disbursing the funding (for a feeding program). in one of his videos, Brian mentioned they can 'do the feeding' out of their personal funds occasionally. i believe many church/sect/temple/mosque members do donate funds to their chosen religious faith-affiliation. this is really what puzzled me for quite a while: T&B not temporarily coursing the funds through Pastor Timio or Pastor Gilbert's church.
I respect T&B nothing to say but RESPECT your HOST country have to follow the RULES and LAWS that the.countries accept us..Helping the poor really appreaciated but hope they should LEGAL ..thats their mistake .God Bless !!!!

Brian, thanks so much for your explanation. I've been watching Beth and Terrence for almost a year now - since when they had almost 7K subscribers. I've wanted to criticize Terrence's thoughts that they are doing their book keeping in their videos but I never said that out loud and could only assum that all was OK. I honestly had some doubts about their situation when Terrence started reporting issues after I returned from a trip to the Philippines last May. You have cleared those back-of-mind doubts about Beth and Terrence, but you suggest that the situation is more serious than Terrence has been reporting on his channel. Now I have doubts that they can get out of this mess without a huge investment of time and money, but I still wish them the best of luck and hope that they can be cleared of all issues.

I feel your pain as a friend Terrence is of yours. I have a friend in Thailand that did the same but he donated all his you tube income to his cause and still was shut down and faced deportation. This goes on in other countries also. You can’t disrespect the country your a guest in no matter what your cause is.

I am fairly new to Terence and Beth's channel...The first video that I watched was the crying lady who wants T&B build her a house. Of course her house didn't materialize as she hoped for. I was curious, and to understand what it is that they are doing, I subbed and watched as many videos of theirs as I can...They are definitely God sent to those people who are in dire need up there in their community. My heart goes out to them...What I don't understand is I watched several foreigner vloggers (single & not married to Filipinas) who made enough money to support themselves & at the same time help their local community in some ways where they are staying. Terence is married to Beth (Filipina), why is his visa still a tourist visa if that's what they're insinuating? I watched Terrance and Beth's channel and even gave what I could on Petreon it was not much but it does not matter, it came from my heart. I believe in what they do. I believe in what you do. The easiest thing in life is to be silent, to sit down and not stand up for good. Thanks for standing. Maybe alot of things in this world would be different if good people were not silent when we need to stand and be counted. I have never been to Cebu or Bohol, but I have been to Manila, taken a 10 hour bus ride to lower Luzon, stayed for a month in the province. Some of the country is breathtaking beautiful. I slept on a mat on the floor with no aircon and even liked it. I have seen first hand conditions of people living over a sewage ditch, without hope. To be a light and good person in this world gets harder by the day. God bless them and God bless you. I am planning to move over there as I am engaged to a wonderful Filipina myself. Hope to meet up with all of you if I can. Thanks for the inspiration, the time and effort you put out- it is very appreciated. You kinda give me a blueprint for what I would like to do there. I'm glad you decide to give your personal thoughts on this awful situation. What I find so sad is the people that need help now or not getting help. Yes, it awful for Terence and Beth but they can move on with their life, but who going to build a home for the homeless. I think it wonderful you decided to take a stand and share your beliefs. It does give Terence/Beth more credit that someone that knows them personally shares what I thought was a balanced approach to what going on in their personal lives. Just the stress in your face Brain makes it more real of what Terence/Beth are going through. I do hope your wrong in that it does not end poorly since hundred of people will suffer if that happens. Gee, I just did the math and I think they built 30 plus houses, which means if they could keep building homes the numbers affect will be in the thousands that will keep suffering by living in the weather instead of a dry home. How can someone defend causing people to sleep in the elements? I did not think Terence/Beth was perfect, but what I did think was many people where being helped and I hope in the near future will go back to being helped.

Thanks Brian for standing up for Beth and Terence.I am one of those who stayed with Beth and Terence in their quest house.I witnessed the good works they did each day.They both have very good hearts and truly care about the people there.As I said,I stayed in their quest house for 2 weeks.They never asked me for a dime for their generous hospitality.They even feed me every day.Terence also drove all the way to Tagbilaran to pick me up.(about a 3 hour drive) I told him in an email that I could take a bus but he insisted on picking me up.I will never forget that.I have nothing negative to say about Beth and Terence.

Brian - this is a very nice posting that you made and you have explained the situation in a very clear and concise manner. I am going to play devil's advocate and say from my background from reading law in University many years ago; the law is not interested in what is morally right and wrong BUT what is legally right and wrong. I have faith in the legal system here and that all aggravating and mitigating circumstances shall be considered in order to allow for an equitable resolution to this saga in the hopes that the viewers continue to get their videos, the poor get their help and the government gets their compliance.

Good government that have existed not all have their laws constituted and genesis on morality. In as much their legal infrastructure is based on morality. Constituted laws are adjudicated on justice for all, defend legal and moral standards, rights, life, property and the pursuit of peace. If governments are only interested or pursue the legal letter of a law(s) abstract of morality, then there can never be true justice. Many law professors, agree on justice based on morality. Or did we miss some law classes in our law curriculum?

Moral capacity is God given, created within us. Regardless of our background uneducated to in position of authority any laws should be adjudicated with morality. But the problem, didn't to get permit first before start accepting donations to helping the unfortunate people in Talibon and even there is a warning already from the DSWD still accepting. Donor's tax in Phil under TRAIN law need to know both T&B, hoping that there is no big trouble or any violation coming to them.

my original opinion I shared on their channel was get the license first before they do any charity and as for Terence he knew he is holding a tourist visa only so that means he can not do any work nor do any charities. It's sad what happen to them. But, like what "Normadic in the Philippines" said, the law is made so that other people with a bad intent can't take advantage of others. Just to be clear, I'm not saying Terence and Beth are bad people. What I'm saying is that there's a lot of people running a scam in the Philippines. There's a lot of them taking advantage of the bad situations happening with the people in the Philippines. For example, collecting donations and funds for the people that suffered on major Typhoons or calamities. People that suffered from the war in Marawi. Collecting donations for the people that suffered and was affected from landslides, or just people suffering from poverty in general. The law, rules, and policies are made to prevent bad people from taking advantage of others. It's not there to prevent us from helping. I hope everything works out for Terence and Beth.
The other important thing that "ALL FOREIGNERS" need to remember is not to get involve with the Politics in the Philippines. You cannot join in political rallies, or any rallies in general. Do not be involve with public demonstration, and public speakings. Foreigners are banned from participating in pro-government “partisan activities” in the country. It can be for or against the government. Joining, supporting, contributing or involving themselves in a rally, assembly, gathering, whether for or against the government. I'm just saying this because there's a lot of people making this mistakes. It's just something to remind others, to prevent you from future headaches. Just a friendly advice.

I wish them well and I hope it will not end with Terence's deportation, although I doubt it will. They did not commit high crime for goodness sakes. They did not however follow some rules and I'm sure it will all come out in the NBI investigation and/or court. There will be some sort of punishment and we all hope it will not be too heavy to pay for them. You'r right, there should be no room for haters and uncouth in anyone's channel.

But this is not a matter of TnB doing genuine charity works, it is the question of doing it without a legal permit or abiding to PD#1564 and holding a tourist Visa status which he's not allowed to do charity works. That's why they are being scrutinised.

Yes, they were trying to do good, but many errors and if anyone pointed out an error, their so called friends and subscribers called them trolls and tried to toast them. What will these subscribers do to help them against the Government of the Philippines now? Everyone is talking about praying. No one wanted them to be corrected before.
Each one of us will need correction at some time in our lives, and I have been corrected many time in my life. I have expressed my opinion about your videos many times but was never called a troll here. In fact you have replied to a few of my dumb questions and made videos about the land for sale in your area when I asked you about the quality and cost of land there.

Same here, need to be careful to follow all the government laws in a foreign country. We were subscribed to their channel before but moved on, so we know of their work and we see them every once in a while in other expat video channels. How their situation all came to this is somewhat surprising. Good luck to Terence and Beth and we really enjoy watching Brian and Maricel's videos.

They are good Samaritan who's sent by God..we cannot deny it for everybody seen their videos...but and the only But here is they never comply with the papers needed by the gov't. Looking back and watching Sir Terrence video i already have that feeling that along the way they are going to be in trouble! I'm so delighted to watch how many people they have offered and given help. Obviously it goes on public and being misinterpreted by lawmakers and maybe local citizens. And because of the details being said in public like clothing or cash donations this caught the eyes 👀of the lawmakers and here they are now even tho they try to make it legal & still trying to get all the paper work done. It saddens me that you are stopping your feeding program at church, but it is very understandable with what is going on now. It’s a real shame that good work is being halted. Pastor Timio would then be responsible for disbursing the funding (for a feeding program). in one of his videos, Brian mentioned they can 'do the feeding' out of their personal funds occasionally. i believe many church/sect/temple/mosque members do donate funds to their chosen religious faith-affiliation. this is really what puzzled me for quite a while: T&B not temporarily coursing the funds through Pastor Timio or Pastor Gilbert's church.
I respect T&B nothing to say but RESPECT your HOST country have to follow the RULES and LAWS that the.countries accept us..Helping the poor really appreaciated but hope they should LEGAL ..thats their mistake .God Bless !!!!

Actually, watching videos of foreigner in the philippines will make u love these couple terence and beth of what they do..they are good people who shared their time with the poor and people who are in need of help....only issue are the laws.....well every country has their own rules and regulations to be followed....anyway god bless u both beth and terence....

Brian, thanks so much for your explanation. I've been watching Beth and Terrence for almost a year now - since when they had almost 7K subscribers. I've wanted to criticize Terrence's thoughts that they are doing their book keeping in their videos but I never said that out loud and could only assum that all was OK. I honestly had some doubts about their situation when Terrence started reporting issues after I returned from a trip to the Philippines last May. You have cleared those back-of-mind doubts about Beth and Terrence, but you suggest that the situation is more serious than Terrence has been reporting on his channel. Now I have doubts that they can get out of this mess without a huge investment of time and money, but I still wish them the best of luck and hope that they can be cleared of all issues.

I feel your pain as a friend Terrence is of yours. I have a friend in Thailand that did the same but he donated all his you tube income to his cause and still was shut down and faced deportation. This goes on in other countries also. You can’t disrespect the country your a guest in no matter what your cause is.

Hi James there are always two sides to a story his subscribers are helping the poor that’s a great thing but Terrence Flannery and Beth are making $200 dollars a day plus patreon plus vacations plus gifts plus money while they are soliciting money. This is in a country where the wage is $6.00dollars a day. Also all comments on there channel that don’t agree with them are delegated so you think everybody agrees with them which is not true

I am fairly new to Terence and Beth's channel...The first video that I watched was the crying lady who wants T&B build her a house. Of course her house didn't materialize as she hoped for. I was curious, and to understand what it is that they are doing, I subbed and watched as many videos of theirs as I can...They are definitely God sent to those people who are in dire need up there in their community. My heart goes out to them...What I don't understand is I watched several foreigner vloggers (single & not married to Filipinas) who made enough money to support themselves & at the same time help their local community in some ways where they are staying. Terence is married to Beth (Filipina), why is his visa still a tourist visa if that's what they're insinuating? And why would he go to jail when he said that they have a good (positive) meeting with the NBI? I feel their pain and the stress that they are going through right now, just because some bottom feeders that don't have better things to do other than stirring up trouble. Prayers for Terence and Beth...

A Foreigner Farming in the Philippines, Brian , if it wasn’t for Terence and Beth’s channel. I probably would not know you or your channel. I’ve been watching Terence and Beth do what they do for the Philippine people for a few months now. And I don’t know Philippine laws either, pertaining to the subject at hand. I pray that once the government or governments get to the bottom of everything, that Beth can get the proper licensing so they can continue doing for the Philippine people.
