Although true they use tyre warmers, as far as I know, it’s not up to the optimal window. It’s advisable to nurse them unless you have a lot of confidence on your driving abilities, which is exactly the point of the commentator about Max’s skills.
i once was watching the fp2 i think in austria this year and albon spun, but the commentators were talking about a random music house that was needing money (also in South America)
@@martijnvv8031 before 2019 the tires came out of the warmers at 100°C. Since the 2019 season they come out at 80°C due to changes in the rules. Optimal working range is around 95°C for hypersofts and goes up to 135°C for superhards. For most of the tyres now used in F1 the range sits between 100 and 120°C. 80°C might seem close to optimal temps, but is far from optimum grip.

It's nowhere near a second slower during the race. Only in qualifying, and time difference in qualifying doesn't matter, only relative position. Good for Mercedes that they've got a car that can go hyperspeed for one lap and then destroys its tyres, but that doesn't help much during the race.

He is great at overtaking and pulling out charges through the field, but his consistency needs a mega bump if he is to remain at red bull...let alone competing with max who is in a whole different ballpark

Driving clean + Downforce is the short answer. The more downforce you have the more pressure will be on your chassis / suspension / tyres. If you have good racecraft you can drive gentle over a circuit even with these speeds to stop tyre degredation with a few % There was no driver who could manage his tyres as Verstappen back in 2016 i believe it was when rules were diffrent. He was very impressive even when the lad was a fresh rookie.

Ferrari in no way stepped up their game. They are still slow. Leclerc a good qualifier which means he doesn't have to deal with dirty air as much. But seeing Vettel basically being stuck in traffic, compared to Albon being able to overtake, just shows that their car really doesn't work aerodynamically. You also can't really put that fact on Vettel as he is, as long as he doesn't spin, still fast, not the fastest but not slow either

It is not the jet engine that is slow, it is the old broken tires that are trash. But, well, apparently, "don't be fast, because it makes the rest looks bad" is the trend
Pretty good racing weekend for both us Dutch racing fans and Red Bull. Considering both Tsunoda and Honda won I would say it was even a pretty solid race weekend for the Japanese racing fans aswell.
Good race pace? He lost 40 seconds to his teammate and that's not only because of bad qualifying. In this car he should've been just behind Bottas. Right now his results are even worse than Gasly had in RB last year

@@thekitowl You could argue max had the better car, but only marginally. Even still the car is nowhere near Mercedes in quali so he can't get a pole position. That means that even if he had the best racecar on sunday (which I believe he did, but barely) he still has to overtake Hulk quickly so his tires don't die in dirty air, he still has to manage his hards to the point where he can overtake atleast one of the Mercs in the pit window and then quickly overtake the other so he can gap them for the final stop. He executed this to near perfection.
Watching this in 2023 and hearing Crofty say Max has won his 9th GP. 3 years later and be has won another 32 races and 2 world championships it's unbelievable what he has done.
The only thing that's weird is that people believe what they saw. Mercedes are way ahead, but they wanted to add some excitement. I just wish F1 were a genuine sport.

Mercedes 1-2 is the only thing that feels like a manufactured ones, their car fits in the regulations, every loophole, every performance, every improvements, they took em all to bring this level of performance so that every race feels so generic for them as the regulations move after their feet which is also expected as how far in front they are currently capable of understanding the whole sport.
I love Hamilton as I’m British and he is definitely our best driver since mansell but my favourite driver has to be max verstappen. What a driver he is in wet or dry conditions, always hungry for the race and has come on so far mentally in the last two seasons, definitely future world champion many times over for that young man, great race max, well deserved win and well done to red bull 👍🏻

He has actually made that ridiculous strategy work. He has shown that couple of times this season that even if he drops to 20-30 seconds behind the leaders in the early part of the race, he will somehow finish P5-P7 on average which shows he has got the talent but needs a little bit of polishing.

Albon's bad quali may not be a problem this season bcos the RB car is just that faster than the other mid field teams. If he dosent improve his bad quali he may have big problems in 2022 when the cars are more equal. I think Red Bull know that and is why they will replace albon IF he dosent make progress in saturdays.

If that was true then please explain austin 2019 (it would have been better for them to have their champion win the championship in style) :). Mercedes use team orders when it is needed to get the most points for the team, and are helping Hamilton only when he is well ahead of Bottas in the standings and they are fighting another team for the championship. If you want to see strange strategy decisions and team orders however, you have to look no further than Ferrari (especially a few years ago).

Driving clean + Downforce is the short answer.
The more downforce you have the more pressure will be on your chassis / suspension / tyres.
If you have good racecraft you can drive gentle over a circuit even with these speeds to stop tyre degredation with a few %
There was no driver who could manage his tyres as Verstappen back in 2016 i believe it was when rules were diffrent.
He was very impressive even when the lad was a fresh rookie.

Ferrari in no way stepped up their game. They are still slow. Leclerc a good qualifier which means he doesn't have to deal with dirty air as much. But seeing Vettel basically being stuck in traffic, compared to Albon being able to overtake, just shows that their car really doesn't work aerodynamically. You also can't really put that fact on Vettel as he is, as long as he doesn't spin, still fast, not the fastest but not slow either

@@thekitowl You could argue max had the better car, but only marginally. Even still the car is nowhere near Mercedes in quali so he can't get a pole position. That means that even if he had the best racecar on sunday (which I believe he did, but barely) he still has to overtake Hulk quickly so his tires don't die in dirty air, he still has to manage his hards to the point where he can overtake atleast one of the Mercs in the pit window and then quickly overtake the other so he can gap them for the final stop. He executed this to near perfection.
Watching this in 2023 and hearing Crofty say Max has won his 9th GP. 3 years later and be has won another 32 races and 2 world championships it's unbelievable what he has done.

Mercedes 1-2 is the only thing that feels like a manufactured ones, their car fits in the regulations, every loophole, every performance, every improvements, they took em all to bring this level of performance so that every race feels so generic for them as the regulations move after their feet which is also expected as how far in front they are currently capable of understanding the whole sport.
I love Hamilton as I’m British and he is definitely our best driver since mansell but my favourite driver has to be max verstappen. What a driver he is in wet or dry conditions, always hungry for the race and has come on so far mentally in the last two seasons, definitely future world champion many times over for that young man, great race max, well deserved win and well done to red bull 👍🏻

He has actually made that ridiculous strategy work. He has shown that couple of times this season that even if he drops to 20-30 seconds behind the leaders in the early part of the race, he will somehow finish P5-P7 on average which shows he has got the talent but needs a little bit of polishing.
He seriously needs to pick up his qualifying pace. He can bring redbull double podiums every weekend with such race pace.

Albon's bad quali may not be a problem this season bcos the RB car is just that faster than the other mid field teams. If he dosent improve his bad quali he may have big problems in 2022 when the cars are more equal. I think Red Bull know that and is why they will replace albon IF he dosent make progress in saturdays.

That was back when Ferrari was a threat. Their only other threat was Max and he was ahead.
If that was true then please explain austin 2019 (it would have been better for them to have their champion win the championship in style) :). Mercedes use team orders when it is needed to get the most points for the team, and are helping Hamilton only when he is well ahead of Bottas in the standings and they are fighting another team for the championship. If you want to see strange strategy decisions and team orders however, you have to look no further than Ferrari (especially a few years ago).

What good race. It took him 22 laps to overtake Gasly in an alpha tauri. He didnt do any mistakes but isnt a rebull grade driver. 40sec behind max is too much
