Hello, I was recently put on this medication at 10 mg only one time a day and I appreciate you saying you saying it only has a half life of 2-3 hours. If taking it once a day is not working, I will mention this to the Physicians Assistant who put me on this. Thank you! this was so helpful and informative.
My girlfriend was on this medication when we dated in college. Every time I got a really bad hangover she would give me one and it would wipe out all of the hangover symptoms especially the anxiety. Fast forward 15 years I am now about to go on it. Cool
@@MosesCosio it kind of gives you that warm blanket feeling like Xanax does. And it also kind of frees up my mind to think and a problem solve. When I have a bunch of anxiety going on I think about everything that I have forgotten to do and just negative thoughts in general. This opens up my mind to problem solve better it gets rid of those ruminating thoughts. You may get pretty light-headed and dizzy at first though. It doesn't last long.
I've been on escitalopran for quite some time to treat panic attacks but as a side effect developed ED problems. I wonder if Buspar treats panic attacks disorder as well.
This medication helps with SSRI induced sexual dysfunction and also helps improve depression. It's an amazing thing to add low-dose buspar to fluoxetine.
I started taking this about a month ago and it's making me feel (for lack of a better word) DUMB! I'm normally very sharp, and intelligent but lately people talk to me and everything goes in one ear, and out the other. It's like my brain can't retain information all of a sudden. I also feel incredibly tired all the time. Do you know scientifically why this could be happening with this med?
My doctor took me off ativan and I've been looking for a replacement. He tried replacing it with hydroxyzine but that makes me too drowsy. A psychiatrists recommended I try buspar as I said I did not like the negative side effects of ssri's. I'm still hesitant though because these medications scare me but was told buspar has way less side effects.
Buspar is the only medication I've ever taken that worked, and didn't give me horrible side effects. I journaled my experience and the only thing was weight gain which was good for me because stress makes me lose weight.
@@Scott-xq2dmThat’s not quite right. Basically the brain has a mechanism to restore balance (autoreceptors) if serotonin is increased, as in the case of buspar, and it takes a few weeks for that mechanism to become “desensitized” enough that the drug reaches its full effect. After that point, you can feel the full effects of the drug within the course of its half-life.
Benzodiazepines is the worst! Don’t even think about it! You will regret when you want to stop! I stopped this Buspiron after one month because of side effects. Everyone is different
Hi ty for the explanations Dr I started to use the buspar since 3 days ago i have some noise in my ears should i continue to use the drug or should i stop?
Tinnitus is common with it! I have been on it for 1 year now. It has been a life saver. The ringing (tinnitus) went away for me within a few weeks. I love buspar. Has given me my life back. I hope you find the same relief from it.
It only increases the risk of serotonin syndrome, but it's highly unlikely you'd get it unless you were taking very high doses of both drugs. Most doctors only see a few cases of it in their entire career.
Could take a month, and it could make it worse before it gets better. Trust me, mine did. That could also be me Catastrophizing like I always do. The medicine has helped me leaps and bounds though. I suggest you stick it out.
You likely always were irritated in the first place, and it just exasperated it. You’re likely still always irritated, because it’s just your personality.
It won't be long before your Dr stops giving it to you. They are clamping down on opiods and benzos at the moment, I understand it is not a great thing to be on them long term but it's horrible coming off them! My Dr is weaning me off clonazapam, even though I'm on it for muscle spasms after a spinal injury. Good luck :)
this med has saved my life

hello when did you start it ?? Im looking to ask my doctor about it for anxiety
No it didn’t. You did.
Hope for me too today my first day
@@andreahernsaze4144 How did it go?
Buspar has changed my life. If I could go back in time and start it when I was much younger, I would not hesitate.
So glad its working for you. Any insomnia from it? Getting ready to start it
Thank you

Takes time to get serotonin up but once it goes up. Less ocd and anxiety 🎉
Awww I hope it us working for you ❤
same and same lol on top of the others, feeling optimistic, hope things are better now :)

What would be the interaction of this if taken along with 5-HTP?
Bad idea. Both increase serotonin, don’t want to risk serotonin syndrome unless under doctor’s guidance
Only a minor increase in the risk of serotonin syndrome.
Thank you

Probably mild antagonizing of D2 dopamine receptors
