Cotempla XR ODT: A Replacement for Concerta & Ritalin LA. Same ingredients - Philadelphia Treatment
Cotempla XR ODT is a stimulant w/ the same active ingredients as Concerta & Ritalin LA. It has much better availability at specialty pharmacies in Philadelphia and nation-wide than Concerta and Methylphenidate LA (Ritalin LA), and manufacturer promotions making it affordable with commercial insurance plans. It is used in the Treatment of ADHD.
Concerta and Ritalin LA are extended release D and L Methylphenidate. Cotempla XR ODT contains extended release D and L methylphenidate. Since it has the same active ingredients, if you do well with Concerta or Ritalin LA, you'll likely do well with Cotempla. Cotempla is a dissolvable pill (grape flavored) which is why it has its own patent and is currently trade name (even though its active ingredients have worked for patients w/ ADHD for decades.
If your care is constantly being disrupted due to the ADHD stimulant medication shortage, talk to your providers about medications within the same class of your current stimulant, with the same active ingredients, that are readily available. Providers should go the extra mile to help patients understand their options, and understand that there are medications beyond adderall, ritalin, vyvanse and concerta. Consistency is the key with the treatment of ADHD, and if you are only able to fill your medication half the time, that's a big problem.
Rittenhouse Psychiatric Associates is a private practice of 25 psychiatrists in Philadelphia, Manhattan, Pittsburgh, Wilmington DE and others. We take time to discuss options with patients, and to educate ourselves on the psychopharmacology of the medications that ARE available. We have relationships with specialty pharmacies, and go out of the way to keep up-to-date about manufacturer promotions as well - so that even trade name medications can be not only filled consistently, but affordable.

Today my doctor prescribed 50 mg. But I fall asleep quickly for about three hours, then I wake up about 3 AM and have trouble going back to sleep. I think I’m gonna start out with 25 mg after reading the comments here and then go up to 50 mg if needed. I’m hoping it will just reset my system back into sleeping properly. I Don’t want to take medication on a regular basis. Praying it works!
Benadryl is a major contributor to dementia
Do you think that this medication would work for a Thalidamide person?
Stop using alcohol and caffeine. Have a bowl of oatmeal for Supper. Go for a walk. Stretch before bedtime and say your prayers. This works.
God, thank you for medications for depression and anxiety. I pray for healing for the times that people had side effects, reactions, overdoses and death from them. I pray that people are healthy and healed how you decide to heal them and if they are not to take something, God, please deliver them. In Jesus name. Amen 🙏Thank you for resurrection power that is only yours God. 😊
My grandson was overdosed at a facility and almost died he was in ICU for almost a month now he has PTSD he can't remember anything had to learn how to eat walk had to go to pt and it and was in blood thinner because all the blood clots in his hands and neck we went through hell he was 13 at the time now he's 15 and getting all the help that he needs nothing the same anymore now he has serotonin and nms syndrome combined he's very sensitive they ruin my grandson life he's brain damage 👈😢
Every mediation has side effects..aspirin may cause GI bleed...so what?
It's the active ingredient in Atarax
Taking Benadryl might be the stupidest thing pharma companies have tricked humans into consuming
I have read that Benadrly should not be used by the elderly. Reason being that it has anticholinergic action(s) which may affect processes in the brain.
That's the worst IDEA, try running & a hot shower......
Here's my completely unsolicited non-clinical two cents for people like me who have had problems sleeping: walk off your dinner, no caffeine after 4pm, minimal carbs at dinner, no snacking after dinner (3-4 hour gap before bed), orgasm before bed, wake and go to sleep at same time daily, herbal tea right after dinner, poop at same time daily, ... and if none of that works (rare), I'll take 1/8 or 1/4 of one benadryl, no more, just to kick the process into motion. No dependence, no automatic taking, just when I have already tried to go to sleep and I simply can't. Pretty obvious stuff, but I hope it helps someone. Lack of sleep is pure torture, and really bad for you.
I use it successfully, however if i feel sleepy already, ill skip it.
How interesting! I experience both types as I fall into and awaken from sleep. Mine are geometric shapes, which move and morph in a beautiful kaleidoscopic scene. Never knew they are actually hallucinations, just assumed it was normal. I'm red-green colorblind (if that's even relevant) and the shapes I see are generally a fluorescent yellowish-orange or a very vivid "electric blue." The electric blue are my favorite and usually appear as I enter a deeply prayerful state, before sleep or during the night if I awaken and pray. I've never felt fear or dread when I see them - just profound peace and wonderment. I quite enjoy them! Have always had very vivid dreams and the occasional lucid dream (thoroughly enjoy all of them!) and even as a toddler & preschooler I apparently suffered from what my Mom referred to as "Night Terrors." No recall of that. I do remember a bad dream I had when I was 3. It's the earliest dream I can recall. I know I was 3 because of the home we had at the time. We moved to a different country right before I turned 4, for my Dad's job. Nightmares as a kid/teen, of course - who doesn't?! - and some as an adult, but rarely. I've had some quite frightening sleep paralysis experiences before (specifically, during an unhappy marriage which probably caused the mental state which caused the SP) but there was also a spiritual element to those experiences. My unconscious self knew I needed to get out of the marriage, apparently. I should've wised up & left sooner but...youth, love, hope, effort, etc. I now _definitely_ understand that not all good things spring eternal - especially youth! Now, 35 years later and having had a wonderful relationship & marriage to a fantastic man (don't tell him I said that!😂) for 25 years, I love sleeping, dreaming, _and_ the hallucinations! They're a welcome experience, and lucky me - I see both types, and quite often. *Thank you* for this "ELI5" edition of "Why My Brain Is So Weird!"
Good luck finding a doctor who will prescribe a sleep medication or who will not tell you that Benadryl is 100% safe long term.
The original psychotropic drugs such as mellaril and ellaril were being created for antihistamine use. The drug companies realized they could be used on psych patients. Unintended use of a medication
You should stop taking meds that give you horrible nightmares, it’s not actually working and it’s causing you worse trauma/anxiety/depression- talk to a therapist. Change your diet. Give the middle finger to drug pushers
Is there anything to help with the sweats? I've been on it for nearly 15 years now. I really want to taper down and completely go off of the drug but my main gripe is the terrible changes in body temperature associated with it. I can deal with everything else but that just absolutely destroys me.
I was taking gabapentin as directed by my doctor and it caused me to have a seizure. It took roughly 6 weeks to feel kind of normal again and I have never regained the memory loss. So many memories stripped from me.
Last night I could not sleep and finally when it happened I had a weird phenomenon like I was into sleep paralysis, feeling very awake and I was flying in the room, taking off the floor to the ceiling. It felt so real. I swear. I woke up with tachycardia my heart was racing. Usually when I experience sleep paralysis it is a nightmare, I am chased down, assaulted and even one time somebody attempted to k/ill me, or could not scream or move. This dream was a new one. The same feeling of sleeping paralysis and awakeness but no feeling of terror. In my dream I was starting to wish to fly and I took off. The room was dark only a candlelight. I hate a late dinner with lamb I am pretty it is was a factor of it. 😂. What does that mean ?
i have been on all the SSRIs, TCAs, atypicals, lithium etc nothing works anywhere near as good as the MAOI Nardil (Phenlzine). it has worked consistently many many years, i have never have had one problem with the diet or interactions. it almost cures me if both depression and social phobia. BUT it takes a long time to kick in (up to 8 or so weeks) and most people need a dose of 60mg minimum. can't recommend this med enough.
So what can we do about this? 😢
The dreams are usually good but are way too vivid, and my sleep apnea has made its way into my dreams, like holding my breath underwater in my dreams and then holding my breath in real life from sleep apnea 😢
whenever I have hypnopompic hallucinations, I tend to have a very realistic dream beforehand, then ‘wake up’ in my room but not actually wake up - & hallucinate badly, recently it was a creature similar to that of the hairless-being from harry potter (i haven’t watched or read anything on that btw😭)
Excellent video. Thank you.
Ok people try this drink clove ,fresh ginger or ground ginger. A litt.e honey for a sweeter taste , look on TH-cam on how to make .. 😊
A few years ago I started hearing about issues with anticholingeric meds around memory loss and Alzheimer’s which seem legit; now try to avoid and only take occasionally.
I have been taking 450 mg for about 3 years for deeper sleep combined with canibus about 1 and half before bed i still wake 2 to 3 times but my sleep is wayyyy deeper. I want to get off of it as i am now dependent, i forgot to take it one night and snd never went to sleep at all. What is your advice to wean myself off of thismedication which my dr prescribed originally for RLS. I want out and my dr is not helping me
Thanks for the info!
I just started this a few weeks ago and it’s helped a lot I did get a headache for a little bit like two days or so but I did not want to be put on a stimulant
“They”? There were more than one?
Benadryl for sleep caused depression in me. I would take a benadryl and cut it in halves and quarters, Yes, I slept but then I noticed I felt depressed and blue for no reason. I also noticed I was more forgetful, at times. I stopped the Benadryl and those symptoms stopped entirely. That was years ago. I would never take it for reason ever again.

Very helpful information. My doctor prescribed it but I was afraid to take it until now.
Please explain any problems that can or possibly happen from taking Depekote 125mg for one day, replacing the meds for depression and anxiety?
I was talking half of the adult dose of diphenhydramine most nights for several months. Then I read some bad stuff about it so I stopped. A single beer might be a better option. 🍺
Doctor I take 2mg of delorazepam 400 mg of seroquel 75 mg of prothiaden 600 mg of lithium and 7 drops of entumin at night for sleep and bipolar disorder. Since I have low libido I asked my doctor for wellbutrin but I am afraid of taking it because of the possibility that it will cause insomnia. What do you think I should do?
If I take 15 mg of Mirtazapine, can I take melatonin for sleep?
Where its legal - try Indica cannabis edibles, its a miracle herb!
Benadryl is way safer than Xanax lol diphenhydramine 25mg will make you sleepy but benzos will make you sleep walk .☠️ Please don't take benzos unless it's absolutely necessary.
This is from Google; Can mirtazapine cause chronic fatigue? It's interesting to note that mirtazapine may cause 'sleep disorders', with fatigue also being a common side effect. While mirtazapine may help you to sleep better while you're taking it, it's well recognised that insomnia can develop after stopping taking the drug. My Question; Hey, sry to ask This here but i need help, i took mirtazapine for 2 months 30mg Then did the stupidity to stop abruptly, which medication can i take to reverse that fatigue effect? Plz anything would help, please answer freely, i promise to ask My doctor first
Blessings in an abundance of the faith. I salute you. 😘🙏Grace and peace be unto you and to this place. God bless you. 🤍Thank you. Will you believe and receive Jesus Christ as your LORD and personal saviour??? I do. 🤍
Neurotoxin
my hypnagogic hallucination would always be a hand trying to reach me through the window
I was given doxipin by my dr I take it only as need - I suffer with insomnia during the pandemic - thst was a crazy time but I refuse the take med - I any used the med if I’ was still awake at 1 am Thsts when I started to meditation
In the 60s & 70s Benadryl was commonly prescribed to cardiac patients for nausea as an anticholingeric properties. It fell out of favor because of its other side effects once ondansetron was developed & became available. Benadryl, in addition to awake side effects, can cause sleep disorders disrupting REM sleep (when we dream) of hallucinationogenic dreams and/or nightmares.
First, have a sleep study done. Ask your MD to refer you. There are more diagnostics to this than just sleep apnea. It can show neurological problems as well. Second talk with your MD or pharmacist before taking herbals. They can have serious side effects too but are not regulated by the FDA. Some people misunderstand that herbals are drugs too. Melatonin for example, is very individualized 2 mg for some and all the way to 10 mg for others. Start small and slowly increase your dose to what works for you. Remember all these work on your brain & I personally am very careful of my brain.
i have restless leg syndrome and take sinemet . benadryle blocks it. I take ambien with no problem. You need to talk to your doctor. Sometimes it takes trial and error.
I experience this and for this reason I sleep to my radio and have the light on to block this out. Especially Christian music it helps.
If Elavil works as an AD it's clearly the best. The side effects become much more tolerable if you feel much better mentally, Depression makes everything hurt, so even as an agent for sleep Elavil is worthwhile. I had to go to high doses because the drug would poop out. Eventually I had to stop them. It was getting dangerous. Remember though that to go up to 150 mg if you have severe depression is safe.
