Viagra opens up the vessels, vasodilator, that mainly hits certain receptors. Vasodialators can cause headaches nonetheless. That’s why caffeine, a vasoconstrictor helps with headaches.

When having panic attacks and debilitating anxiety you need a medication that works right away, not something that even in Medical Journals says this medication "Might help" with Anxiety but can take 2-12 weeks before I might work. It's like having a medication that will stop a heart attack instantly but doctors refused to prescribe it so they prescribe you a different medication that could take 2-12 weeks to stop the heart attack you are having at that exact moment
It is true it’s not something that works instantly, But it’s something You take every day and within time you’ll notice You have a lot less anxiety To a point where you may no longer need benzos, At least that’s the case with me. It’s a long time treatment plan.
I love it. Well spoken. Buspar (Buspirone) is not fast to work. At all. The only thing that came quickly was my fixing my sexual disfuction. If you give it time this drug will clear your mind because half the brain fogs come from an overload of unnecessary anxiety. If you see that some studies in Japan claim it's as good as Ritalin after time mainly cause the anxiety doesn't get in the way. However it can also not work and also if you go into mania or start craving the opposite sex of any kind it's a red flag for bipolar disorder. It's all trial and error and it's your job as a patient to be brutally honest with your doctor and nurse. Tell them everything even if it's embarrassing and tell them why this or that is so frustrating to work with and uncomfortable side effects. I appreciate the knowledge and your editing is getting much better. Some drugs work miracles. Some drugs cause other problems. In the end you are just getting one step closer to being a better you. Keep going and it will pay off. I realized substances like alcohol or illicit drugs was never the problem. The mind is. Once you get a hold of the right medicine to keep your mind balanced I promise the bad habits will be like kindergarten. A thing in the past you cannot relate to anymore.
Could you please do a video on Gabapentin for anxiety and also its role in replacing the GABA lost in benzodiazepine withdrawal to make the tapering easier snd potentially faster? Surprised have not done as many psychiatrist prescribe for that purpose.
Gabapentin has no effect on GABA. It’s name has gaba in it because it’s structurally similar. However it works on voltage gated ion channels. It has very limited effects on benzodiazepine withdrawal but it may be useful in preventing seizures.
i was prescribed this while getting off of venlafaxine. i’ve had such a bad experience with venlafaxine that i’m scared to try my buspar. i just don’t know how much more i can take with these side effects
I started Buspirone in July after my therapist has suggested an anti depressant for years but I’ve always been terrified of taking anything. My anxiety got really bad this spring and I felt I had no choice but to go on something. Buspirone has helped me a lot. I had previously been on adderall and came off that cold turkey due to a major panic attack. I still get weird about taking Buspirone but that’s my own issue, I even get weird w vitamins. I say try it, if I can do it I promise you can too.
Buspar seems to have a lot less side effects than the ssri snri meds. The benzos work the best on anxiety with no side effects unless you get addicted and withdraw too fast, but drs seem to not want to prescribe it even for those that don’t abuse it
Same . Benzos have been the only thing that works for me with gad and stress , but like you said docs are reluctant to write it and ive never abused benzos because i actually take them for anxiety and to be comfortable in public not to get high
So far the only side effects I've gotten are drowsiness for an hour or two after taking it, and some slight nervousness which when compared to my normal anxiety l, I'll take.
We dropped ssri due to side effects, so my dr has me on Buspar during the day and mirtazapine at night. I feel great with that combo. Do you know of any real problems with mirtazapine? I’ve read about cholesterol and lower wbc but so far my numbers have been fine and mirtazapine works great for me with sleep and an extra oomph for anxiety depression on top of Buspar. Oh and great videos and information. You really know your stuff
Thank you. Mirtazepine can be great for both depression and anxiety, even better for sleep. It can increase cholesterol and appetite, so just keep monitoring your weight and labs. If you see an upwards trend, consider switching treatment.
Great video. I have a question. I’ve read some literature, stating that buspirone increases cortisol. My understanding is that high level are cortisol can cause anxiety since it is a stress hormone. How does that work then ? Thanks.
I’m on Prozac 20mg doctor prescribed me buspar do you think that’s safe as you mention flouxatine has interaction . I’m wondering if my psychiatrist knows what she’s doing 🤷♂️
I’m on my 3rd day on buspar after my doctor switched from clonazepam to buspar., I was gonna drop it but after watching this video it gave the courage to continue talking it since my body it’s so used to clonazepam I’m suffering cold turkey 😢
That's cruel to just cut off the benzo and replace it with this it won't do anything about the withdrawals became these drugs work on 2 completely different systems
SSRI always caused me dirreah and never tolerated well after taking it for some time. Venlafaxine SNRI also caused dirreah. Deloxitine has been good for 3 years but have got low HDL colestrol ,HIGH LDL ,liver ALP high and always have the legs pain when i do jogging or running with 60 mg Deloxitine but with 30 mg pain reduced so thinking of taking gabapentin for reducing anxiety and nerve pain?
Question: I have been using Escitalopram for the last one year for panic attacks and anxiety. It was effective and then it stopped working. Now I am getting panic attacks again. I have started Buspirone but I am worried as I am also using propanolol and Alprazolam previously. Can I use Buspirone alongside propanolol? And how to use aplezolam now as I am habitual to it at night?
@@garysimone4977 Several peer reviewed controlled studies say it does, which makes sense as it increases GABA and has been shown effective in treating alcoholism. Was it not successful for you? If tried, what dosage did you take and for how long?
I don’t think it does anything for me but not sure. I have been out of it now for about a week and haven’t noticed anything? I also don’t think I noticed anything when I started taking it prescribed by my treatment center nurse practitioner. I was on Xanax for about 14 years before! This was two years ago!
I start this med tomorrow I’m on pristiq and also instant release adderal (bc XR was just toooooo up n down for me so I take 2 5mg pills per day) will this be too much serotonin for me? And I sure can’t afford to gain weight after being house bound w extreme anxiety n chronic fatigue for 2 years
It will be hard to say for sure since different people will respond differently to these medications. In my video on serotonin syndrome I discuss the signs and symptoms to watch out for, so just be aware that you are at an increased risk of serotonin syndrome and watch for potential symptoms. Keep in mind though that because Buspar is a serotonin stabilizer it can actually turn down the extra serotonin in certain areas of the brain, so risk is minimal.
Unfortunately, that is a misconception... typically among non mental health providers. Buspar does not work when taken as needed, it must be taken at least twice a day regularly for it to work. Perhaps I should do a video to clarify this.
In my experience, buspirone did very little to help with my severe GAD, even at the maximum dose. Of course, your mileage may very. I have a friend on buspirone who does pretty well, but his anxiety is much less severe than mine. So far, the only meds that really work are SSRIs like Lexapro. I also found the combo of the two to do nothing to combat the sexual side effects of Lexapro. Again, your mileage may vary. Stay away from the benzos as much as possible though.
I deal with Severe Anxiety as well I was bed ridden for months until I went to the doctor and got prescribed buspirone it helped my anxiety for 3 years but I stopped taking it and two weeks ago it came back but I need to go to back and get another prescription for it cause after you stop taking it you think you’re fine until the anxiety comes back

I got erectile dysfunction caused by paroxetine and clomipramine...now i stopped them even though after stopping i have Erectile dysfunction....can buspirone solves my erectile dysfunction?
For some people, yes. However, it is good to look at the entire clinical picture before resorting to adding psychotropic medications that may cause harm. Check labs, genetic factors, nutrition, and lifestyle. Modify those first!

Thank you Yosif! You have a lot of knowledge on this medication I appreciate you sharing with us.

I keep wondering if it’s better to turn into things like Sam E or other natural choices🤷♀️
Does this tend to help irritability
My physchiatrist keeps wanting to put me on meds that do not work for me at all
Great video, very informative
Could you please do a video on Gabapentin for anxiety and also its role in replacing the GABA lost in benzodiazepine withdrawal to make the tapering easier snd potentially faster? Surprised have not done as many psychiatrist prescribe for that purpose.
Gabapentin has no effect on GABA. It’s name has gaba in it because it’s structurally similar. However it works on voltage gated ion channels. It has very limited effects on benzodiazepine withdrawal but it may be useful in preventing seizures.
Horrible withdrawals
Huh? SSRI’s often increase anxiety, particularly at first. Plus, they have sexual side effects in a large majority of people.
Beautiful message... thanks so much !!!
i was prescribed this while getting off of venlafaxine. i’ve had such a bad experience with venlafaxine that i’m scared to try my buspar. i just don’t know how much more i can take with these side effects
@@courttt_xo I totally get that way with vitamins too! This has helped ease my anxiety a bit about taking my buspar, thank you ❤

What was your experience with venlafaxine?
Effect on dopamine? Does that mean increase or decrease?!
Increase
Buspar seems to have a lot less side effects than the ssri snri meds. The benzos work the best on anxiety with no side effects unless you get addicted and withdraw too fast, but drs seem to not want to prescribe it even for those that don’t abuse it
Benzos are a tough option. You get addicted so fast and long term ya may have interdose WD
Same . Benzos have been the only thing that works for me with gad and stress , but like you said docs are reluctant to write it and ive never abused benzos because i actually take them for anxiety and to be comfortable in public not to get high
@@EphesianRose i was on ativan , klonopin and xanax at different times . I would rate ativan the best then klonopin and xanax last
Sounds like you grew dependent on benzos
Prolonged use of Benzos will lead to dependence. So, Drs avoid prescribing it except otherwise necessary.
Very comprehensive overview. Thanks
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
So far the only side effects I've gotten are drowsiness for an hour or two after taking it, and some slight nervousness which when compared to my normal anxiety l, I'll take.
Did the anxiousness ever go away
@@TheMhutcheson411 not completely but after a month it's greatly reduced
It’s my first time asking for medication and I’m nervous I don’t really want to waste my time and try SSRI/SNRI could I just be prescribed buspirone
Yes, some patients do fine with just this medication. Talk to your doctor about it.
Why isn't this the first line of treatment?
More research on SSRIS for anxiety.
@@LevelheadedMind hmm okay
My doctor only prescribed 300 mg a day for first week, then up to ten mg a day. Is that insufficient as below therapeutic dose here.

Would it be possible to get one of these videos on Trintellix?
I am so glad you find these videos helpful. My next video is on Trintellix, I'm editing it today. It will be published by Monday afternoon.
@@LevelheadedMind im on trintellix and buspar can i have drink once in a whilw?
Great video. I have a question. I’ve read some literature, stating that buspirone increases cortisol. My understanding is that high level are cortisol can cause anxiety since it is a stress hormone. How does that work then ? Thanks.
I'm no longer afraid to say extremely hateful things now!

I've been on Buspar for about 8 months. Can't really say it has done much, except lightheaded, and very sleepy during the day.
I’m on Prozac 20mg doctor prescribed me buspar do you think that’s safe as you mention flouxatine has interaction . I’m wondering if my psychiatrist knows what she’s doing 🤷♂️
My doctor told me to take this med “as needed“? Givin, it takes two weeks to work. I don’t get his logic.🤷♀️
I’m on my 3rd day on buspar after my doctor switched from clonazepam to buspar., I was gonna drop it but after watching this video it gave the courage to continue talking it since my body it’s so used to clonazepam I’m suffering cold turkey 😢
I'm sorry to hear you are suffering. Try some amino acid supplements or bone broth to help support your neurotransmitters during withdrawal.
Did it end up helping?
That's cruel to just cut off the benzo and replace it with this it won't do anything about the withdrawals became these drugs work on 2 completely different systems
Would this help with ptsd?
SSRI always caused me dirreah and never tolerated well after taking it for some time. Venlafaxine SNRI also caused dirreah. Deloxitine has been good for 3 years but have got low HDL colestrol ,HIGH LDL ,liver ALP high and always have the legs pain when i do jogging or running with 60 mg Deloxitine but with 30 mg pain reduced so thinking of taking gabapentin for reducing anxiety and nerve pain?
This was really helpful. Thank you
Thank you dear I appreciate❤
Please make a video like this on Buprenorphine!
Since I’ve been taking boost bar, my anxiety seems to be far worse, but I have to say the depression is gone
Buspar started working for me 40 minutes after the first time I took it. I started to feel loopy and was laughing. Then, massive headache and nausea.
It helps me. Feels steadying
Please can you make a serotonin syndrome video ? I had no idea what it was until it happened thank you for sharing this

What happened if you don’t mind me asking I’m afraid of taking my medication because I don’t want to die lol they have me on this and escritalopram 😢
Question:
I have been using Escitalopram for the last one year for panic attacks and anxiety. It was effective and then it stopped working. Now I am getting panic attacks again. I have started Buspirone but I am worried as I am also using propanolol and Alprazolam previously. Can I use Buspirone alongside propanolol? And how to use aplezolam now as I am habitual to it at night?
Can you take with Gabapentin to assist in benzodiazepine tapering? If not, which is more effective? Thsnks.
Gabbabentine does not help benzo WD
@@garysimone4977 Several peer reviewed controlled studies say it does, which makes sense as it increases GABA and has been shown effective in treating alcoholism. Was it not successful for you? If tried, what dosage did you take and for how long?
gabapentin works on voltage gated ion channels and not gaba. It got its name because it’s a gabapentinoid structurally.
Can buspar and or lexapro cause ringing in the ears??
Yes, rare but it can happen. Benzos can do that more commonly though.
I have been taking buspar for ten years . Does not work so well anymore😢
I wish Buspar was made in an extended release form.
Yes, extended release would be more convenient! Thanks for becoming a member, I truly appreciate it 🙏.
My Doctor prescribed it as a as needed. Only basis does this sound correct?
She said several times it takes time to work so your doctor sounds uninformed.
I don’t think it does anything for me but not sure. I have been out of it now for about a week and haven’t noticed anything? I also don’t think I noticed anything when I started taking it prescribed by my treatment center nurse practitioner. I was on Xanax for about 14 years before! This was two years ago!
Madam made a video on gabanueron 60
I was just put on buspirone 5 mg twice a day along with zoloft and serquil. How are all thoes medications together.
You will have to watch out for serotonin syndrome which I discuss in this video th-cam.com/video/lhNXaG_kozE/w-d-xo.html
Me too but I’m scared to have to have withdrawal symptoms
Also, my provider said to take Buspar sporadically but you're saying it only work cumulatively.
Unfortunately, that is a misconception... typically among non mental health providers. Buspar does not work when taken as needed, it must be taken at least twice a day regularly for it to work.
Perhaps I should do a video to clarify this.
@@LevelheadedMind Can you point to a study or other documentation saying this - that I can show to my provider?
Doest it make acid reflux worst or better? Anyone knows!
I had huge problems with it. I have gerd.
@@andersonfernandesmartins7784I’m taking now for GERD. My GI prescribed it for me. Are u on PPI?

How does a partial agonist decrease serotonin? Wouldn't that be more like an antagonist?
No, it's called a partial agonist because it can act as an agonist or antagonist.
@@LevelheadedMind that's the first time I've ever heard it described that way.
Can you take buspirone with Lexapro?
Yes.
I just started buspirone my first dose of 5mg i also have Lexapro but I don't know i should take dat one too while im taking buspirone
Can you take methylphenidate, guanfacine, and buspar together?
Look it up on a drug interaction tracker like Web MD has. At first glance, I'd say high risk for serotonin syndrome.
Can I drink bedtime tea while taking Buspirone? If so how far apart from taking the medicine?
If you are taking this, can you take NSAID’s? Tylenol, Aleve, and Ibuprofen.
You can, but if you take NSAIDs regularly it will increase your risk for bleeding.
What's the real difference in trazodone and buspar??? As far as what they treat and how? Which is best for anxiety?
Two completely different medications. Trazodone is an antidepressant often used to help insomnia. Buspar is an anxiolytic used for anxiety.
@@LevelheadedMind I know they're so much different but like chemically and how it reacts on what different receptors? Things of that nature if that made sense 😅 lol

Im afraid to take any of these meds. How was the morning dose? My doctor said try it once a day then twice a day
@tylerscharlow393 not bad I actually just took my first one of day two and feel fine. Maybe a little light headed but other than that nothing to worry about besides the sleep issuse I had. I feel you I think I worked myself up yesterday since it was my first day. I don't like taken things I don't know what they will do but honestly I feel wierd everyday so for me the fact it might help just made think what's there to lose. I wouldn't take it before bed or atleast that's what I'm going to try tonight to take 2nd dose earlier. Good luck and God bless you
I got erectile dysfunction caused by paroxetine and clomipramine...now i stopped them even though after stopping i have Erectile dysfunction....can buspirone solves my erectile dysfunction?
If have history of gastrtis or GERD not to take it. My doctor prescribe that med and it feels like its ripping my guts.
Yeah. I had the same feeling. It felt like my stomach and esophagus were burning. My throat is completely burnt.
Can it be used with Buspar? I am on both and I don't think both works as they say it should, still anxious.
Can buspirone help when prescribed during a benzodiazepine taper?
For some people, yes. However, it is good to look at the entire clinical picture before resorting to adding psychotropic medications that may cause harm. Check labs, genetic factors, nutrition, and lifestyle. Modify those first!
I want to stop buperirone , doesn't work for me. 😢
Hi doctor! Can I take pristiq with buspirone? I started today with buspirone 10 mg. Shall I have to take it twice a day, for example 2 tablets of 5 mg, or is better one tablet of 10 mg daily? My starting dosage is 10 mg, when do I have to increase it? Or how I know that I have to increase the dosage? Thanks 😊
These are questions to ask your provider. Buspar is best taken at least twice a day. Get clarification on dosing and when to increase, etc. From your provider.
I absolutely loved this video, thank you$
Just prescribed 30mg daily. Finished my klonopin taper 4 months ago, never again.
My dr says 3mg of lunesta wont interact with Buspar? Insomnia for 2 years.

Thanks for sharing. Though Lunesta may not have drug interactions it acts similarly to the benzodiazepines so be careful not to get dependent on it. Take care and I'm glad to hear Buspirone worked for you! And definitely excited that you were able to stop klonopin, that's worth celebrating 🎉
