I can agree with you. I love Tim....love him to death....but I also appreciate John Doyle, and his traditional style. To me, the young fella's bring old music to the next generation. It's my prayer and wish, that MY son can do his own 'spin' on it, for his generation.

Excellent as always Tim. I have had the great privelege of playing and recording with Tim (he'd probably rather forget that!) and not only is he superb musician but one of the most genuinely decent men I have ever met. In a game where cynicism is common it is a refreshing change. As for the music, well, IMHO it is a living thing, it evolves, it has a life of it's own and there is absolutely nothing wrong with tweaking it now and again, as long as you remember and respect where it came from.

Love how he tips the hat to a number of traditional tunes in this piece. Very evocative & soulful. The world is so fortunate to have musicians like Tim (& others) to carry the torch, & pass it down to future bearers of this important musical documentation & preservation of history.

The upsurge in the quantity and quality of guitarists in Irish music over the last twenty years has been remarkable, in most cases greatly enhancing the music encompassed here by Tim who with Arty McGlynn, Steve Cooney and Jim Murray and a few more are a cut above the very good standard. On a 'bum' note though I do think that there are some otherwise very good guitarists who should concentrate more on integration, NOT domination when playing irish traditional music.

Sweeeet! Does anyone know what tuning he's in for this? Thanks!

Looks like standard tuning but bottom E dropped to D, ergo drop D tuning.

LOL, yes, I can see what you mean ...his treatment of "SI Bheag, Si Mhor" would give some diehard traddies a heart attack ....but what harm does it do to inject a bit of humor into the music now and again, that's my take ...

I totally agree. People get too stuffy and reverential don't they!
