These Ceili Bands are up and down the country pretty nearly every sizeable village has one and dances for entertainment. Some of the bands are really great. It is the entertainment that preceded TV etc.
This is awesome . We went into the back room of a pub in Tralee in the late 70's , the size of a postage stamp, and the old fuddy dudies were dancing like this. I have to say it again, this is awesome.
@@joemccafferty6158 How dare you !! I’m in my prime 😊 I hired a Cherokee 6 and we flew to Farranfore ( now Kerry airport ) with our instruments looking for traditional music. We had a great weeks holiday ….the Ring of Kerry, Banna Beach, Dingle where the Furies were on that evening, and the beginning of the Trallee Festival. I’ll stop there ….but the Irish in me doesn’t want to .
Scotland........hehe (we're English/we're no English).........surely the fools of GB...........certainly the most stupid of all 3.......in/out........now nobody wants poor scotland
Kilfenora village has a population of two hundred and twenty and the area is under five hundred this band has been going over a century. I too hope they and the other Ceili bands keep going, I think they will because the Irish are drawn to music as a form of entertainment.
I like River dance too. But, you know, my favorite parts of it are the Reel Around the Sun scene & the two ceili scenes that have fantastic set dancing just like THIS. We'll, a little fancier.
@@vickystanley8853 Sorry, I can’t be doing with Riverdance at all. I grew up in Ireland with real traditional music and Riverdance isn’t it. If other people like it that’s fine - maybe it’ll get them listening to something better - like the Kilfenora, Bothy Band, Tommy Peoples, Matt Molloy …
There are many different styles etc within Irish dance and the style that dominates the big commercial production Riverdance and Lord of the Dance can get monotonous but even within that style, there are many intricacies that do not appear in the shows themselves.
I love Irish music, dance and people. I think it 's a fantastic country
I agree with you.
It is.
Pure magic...Music and Dancing to match anything worldwide...🇮🇪

I hope you joined in.
In doing the math, I'd say you're the old fuddy duddy now.😂

It's the 'Clare Set' that they're dancing.
They also call it the 'Caledonian Set' I think so it might have origins in Scotland.
Gone to 28 now ..what is wrong 😮

Ireland, hold onto your culture.
Irish music culture is quite secure. The only problem is the language.
Love the music!
heck of a lot of rump steak on show as well.

The Last Migration by Charlotte McConaghy brought me here
😊
That's amazing, I haven't danced like that since I got bitten by that scorpion on the farm

This shows how soulless and meaningless the whole Riverdance thing is. This is the real (reel?) thing. It makes my heart sing.
