- Political commentator Theo Usherwood says Keir Starmer had a "right to be nervous" during his party conference speech.
In his first Labour Party conference speech as Prime Minister, Sir Keir set out plans to “clear out the Tory rot”, with a new era of political leadership creating a country “renewed by respect and service”.
In a speech briefly disrupted by a pro-Palestine heckler, he said the “wounds of trust” left by the Conservatives needed to be healed as he acknowledged that addressing that legacy would require unpopular decisions.
Theo says: "He's decided to push back on the winter fuel allowance."

I live in Halifax. Voted Tory all my life. I always voted for them because I thought it was in the best interests of everyone. When you vote Labour it is just for you. I have volunteered to help at our local elections in May. Looking forward to it. 😊👍
