If you want to see smoke from a jet, look up footage on TH-cam of America's 1950s B-47 Stratojet bomber (the B-52's predecessor). That thing not only had smoky engines, but used rocket-assisted takeoff in many cases! Probably one of the most dangerous planes the USAF ever operated, and it's no wonder they made the switch to the much better B-52 as soon as possible.
When Concorde (002) was based at Fairford in the 1970's it earned itself the nickname of "Smokey Joe" as it used to push out almost as much smoke as a B52!!..😂😂.....
Was the B52's fuel mixed with oil for lubricant reasons, hence the heavy black smoke, or was there a another reason, would love for someone to help me on this.☘️
I was a B-52 crew chief at Barksdale AFB from 85-89. Brings back memories.
