Sinister. THAT'S the word I've been searching for. This MF is exactly that.... Sinister. It just looks like danger incarnated. "You've done f**ked up now! We've had enough of that crap. The United States is coming.... to kill you".
I worked for rockwell during the b1b production . Saw them fly almost everyday for a couple years. Everytime a b1 passed final inspection. The airforce pilots would do a flyby. Most the time it was .85 @ 300ft off the deck . But every once in awhile they gave us a real treat. 100ft off the deck .95 and a pretty roll as they pulled up and flew off .
With all due respect, I have to disagree a bit. If it would have reached serial production, the title of the coolest plane should go to the XB-70 Valkyrie. But it was obsolete by the introduction of ICBMs, and I can understand why it was cancelled.
Impressive, just the right ambient light. Magnificant aircraft. I love the spool up, the exhaust nozzels close, the AB kicks in...flames, the exhaust nozzles open, more flames and the great crackling roar of those great GE F101's. The images and sounds of the greatest airpower the world has ever known. Hell Ya!
I appreciate it that the video starts with the two taxiing to the runway, and testing rudder, flaps, etc. about half a second apart. What a beautiful ballet!
My father was a flight instructor USAF, TX in the mid 50s. Late in life I asked him the different planes he flew as we were on the way to his chemo appointment, he named so many that there was no way I could remember them all. We also spent 4 years in Hann AF base in Germany. When he got out of the military, he flew private corporate jets (Sabreliner). At his memorial service on the video at the end we played a Sabreliner taking off with that distinct sound, and the caption said Last flight and his name.
Great story, thanks for sharing. It should be mentioned that the Saberliner was originally built for the military, so in way he was flying a military jet (sort of).
Most of the times I drive through Abilene, Texas, I am privileged to see these magnificent beasts (usually in flights of three) in the pattern doing touch-and-goes. I never get tired of that sight!
very nice footage. Was lucky to witness it myself after two days of inactivity on the bomber front (had to leave homebound inevitably the day after again)... as sunset approached, we were in for a treat. Uploaded footage as well, I positioned myself a couple of feet further up the fence. Gorgeous sight and sound of these mighty planes !! Wish you many more spectacular B1, B52, B2, U2, ?? missions and video opportunities ! Keep those videos coming.
I live in Cheltenham and heard this take off from there!! Knew immediately what it was - awesome sound, can't imagine what it was like at the airfield!!!
Remember watching one of these monsters at RIAT 2000. The gates of hell opened up, the noise is insane! Was in awe and fear at the same time. An experience I'll never forget
Anecdote: Back around 1998 my girlfriend and I were laying, butt naked, on the carpet in front of the fireplace late at night in my house in Macon GA. Suddenly an enourmous racket shook the house, stunned we ran to the back deck to look at the night sky and we saw the low clowds tinted in an orange and red color. I recongnised the noise, a B-1 playing a trick on the sleeping town... then we realised we were naked, outside in about 40°F...
That's awesome. I saw B-1B do that back in the 90's . BUT I had the pleasure of growing up near a SAC BOMBER BASE and until you've seen a flight of B-52's on a Red Alert Scramble fly directly over your house YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHIN !!
The Aeronautical engineers knew exactly what they were doing when they designed this sexy beast of a plane, there's certainly nothing quite like it and nothing will ever come close XD
Back in the 80’s I used to camp out in the Mojave desert with friends. We heard a rumbling noise, and turned around to see one of these coming full speed, wings back, hauling a$$ at about 100 feet above the deck. I never worried about nuclear war after seeing what that plane was doing, since if they ever tapped that plane for a delivery, someone would be kneecapped permanently. Praise to everyone involved in creating and maintaining that aircraft!
This reminds me of the time when I was at an airshow in Abbotsford during one of the gulf wars. There was a B1 on display. About half way through the show it was announced over the PA that they were stopping the show because the B1 was being called up and had to leave ... NOW. I can't remember if they did an afterburner take off but they did do a afterburner low pass over show center. The ground shook and car alarms were going off.
Years ago I was living in a farmhouse. Pretty much way out in the country. I was outside one night and heard a rumbling overhead. Looked up in time to see a plane coming over fairly low. As it passed I recognized the configuration of the engines. Very exciting to have such a close call.
Love the B1 Lancer! What an amazing Plane.... the B2 Spirit Bomber as well. But the Speed of the Lancer is such a critical role to have... What an Awesome plane. I watched one fly around an Air show like a fighter jet doing Maneuvers... Pretty amazing to see the Lancer fly like I have never seen on any video. I thought it was an F-14 at 1st, but it was too large for an F-14. and watching it as I was driving down the Interstate, and realizing it was a Lancer instead of an F-14.. I was pretty amazed with the Lancer... I Have all Trust in Our USA Military and all our US Aircrafts... As well as our Ammunitions and such
Captivating beauty combined with tremendous power make a this aircraft one of my favorites. I am former Navy and served onboard the USS Midway. We had the F-4 Phantoms. It was a beautiful aircraft as well. God has surely blessed the engineers and designers of our military.
Dyes AFB in Abilene Texas. As a Canadian, I spent lots of time there in the 90's, working on the C130's power plants. The B1's are incredible aircraft.
Wow! Even with the wings fully extended with those huge flaps, slats and the four afterburners--it still takes a lot of runway to get these birds into the air.
Remember being stationed in RAF Fairford from May 2007 to May 2009. We saw B-1s visit alongside the U-2 Dragonladys. It was one of my best assignments. The good thing about Fairford in the old days, the place was silent as no permament assigned aircraft but when a plane comes in you get everybody outside the wire in admiration that a plane is coming into the base. I miss it. Was part of the 420th LRS at the time. We did have the B-2s come but not very often you saw. During the International Air Tattoo it was a great time. The base and the region turn into a big city for a whole week. It was great meeting our allied partners as we greeted and respectively argue whose pilots and planes are better to include the Royal Air Force hosts as we was on their turf. Seen the Queen only once when she made her appearance for the 90th anniversary of the RAF but it was always rainy and some days the weather was great. Miss it a lot
This was making a U turn during the 2001 airshow here in Melbourne Australia. We saw the jet whilst we were making our way to the front yard. It was like the sound of two maybe three 747 400's passing by...enormous power...the wings were folding as well.
my dad had a love for this aircraft. I see why. such an elegant plane and despite being quite large can still go faster than the speed of sound. a marvel of engineering.
The B-1B is such a beautifully sinister looking aircraft.
Sinister. THAT'S the word I've been searching for. This MF is exactly that.... Sinister. It just looks like danger incarnated. "You've done f**ked up now! We've had enough of that crap. The United States is coming.... to kill you".
The best. Come on, 4 afterburners ❤

Thanks for posting! The B-1 Lancer is a truly beautiful airplane.

To me, the BONE is one of the most beautiful planes ever built.
Thanks for the vid 👍
And I need cats on my car 😂
Pitiful how beautiful something so damned deadly really is. Weapons have an eeirie beauty. Take care, Airmen.
Agreed. I've always found war technology to be fascinating while simultaneously hating that it exists.
❤❤❤ONLY MILITARY JET THAT GIVES ME MAJOR GOOSEBUMPS EVERYTIME... JUST LIKE MY HEAVENLY FELICIA 💋💋💋😘😘😘
During the Iraq war, it dropped 40% of all the weapons but only flew 5% of all the sorties. It's a true beast.
Killed lots of Iraqi women and children.
A war that was started by lies from the top, just like Ukraine. US war criminals, just like Putin.....
How do you break up an Iraqi bingo game?
Call B-1.
@Asparagus777-hw5ft, 😲
Very hard to capture the snap, crackle & pop of afterburners, but you did well. Those lingering shots of the climb out are great
It's very hard to get all that noise into a tiny microphone

We live near a major US airbase and you always know when the B1s go over. Shakes the whole house. Coolest plane made.
That's so fucking awesome that you leave nearby!
Haha I don't about the coolest. I think the SR-71 could give them a run for their money.😉
Sonic Boom ?? Usually Sonic booms are not allowed if u near an airbase that is close to residential areas

Badass. The framing of the first aircraft going to afterburner was absolutely serendipitous..
that didn't even look real, absolutely insane
I’ll never forget an airshow many years ago where a B-1 did a low pass. Loudest airplane I ever heard in my life.
they are fantastically deafening, ain't they?
Quality. Loitering around the Base certainly paid off.

When I was 7, this was my favorite swing wing. At 50, still mighty impressed by it. She still has it.
