    Your 40 minute video on this was great, as was this one. I have an Octatrack MkII, and a Social Entropy engine, which were purchased to be the brains for my live shows. Nice man! I have been buying Roland groove boxes since 1996. My first MC-909 cost me 2500.00. And wasn't half the tool this is. It seems to me that Roland has been playing attention to the live groove box community. I Can't wait to get my hands on this. Finally a rival to my Deluge. Good review. The synth sounds are fat and very usable. Everything the 909 could never. Be..

    I'm looking at that display and the first thing that pops into my head is: Would hooking a Launchpad Pro up to Midi in be helpful?
    Granted the 707 uses an 8×16 grid vs the 8×8 of a launchpad, but that'd be a lot of up-front prep to fill 128 slots with clips. :)
    Also, the send and return on the box look like they act much like the fx loop on a guitar amp where the signal is sent out of the amp, into one or more fx pedals and back into the amp before it hits the output to the speaker box. Is that correct?

    • @mikenoface
      @mikenoface 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same here (read the manual). All these people in the comments talking about what this box can or cannot do, a) lack imagination when it comes to the resampling, bouncing tracks, parameter locks, etc. and b) don’t really understand how deep it is. The synth itself is way better than Deluge imo.

    • @Rndhld
      @Rndhld 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikenoface very! I'v read the manual through and through, watch the loopop video and this device have a very high potential for absolute weirdness. It's a very, very deep machine. • @saneneweyes6189

    I just wish they would do a modern version of the mc 909... 8 synth patches and 8 drum/synth patches... even if they released the same box just not a bulky with more sample space and more effects, I would pick one up without hesitation. Everything that has came after just seems like a less capable version, even though the memory / sampling capacity for gear is exponentially larger.

  • @TheArtisticFlavor
    @TheArtisticFlavor 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The price does seem a bit high. Especially since the sample editing options are so slim. Hopefully they add a sample slice feature. Since you can already set up what seem like drum racks per track, it would be great to be able to sample something, then slice it into drum rack, then jam or sequence the slices. Many other samplers have this feature. But as it is, it just does not offer enough to justify the price.

      OG Steele Well, this is a full on synth. The MPC is really a sampler. You do have a few synth engines built in. But the 707 is more of a synth with a built in drum machine.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aristotlekumpis7095 right. Actually, now I'm torn over the Force and the ONE. I really like the Force and it seems like something I could own for years and have great times with even if I never plugged it into a computer. The thing that puts me off is the learning curve. Sometimes I just want simplicity and to tap/"bang" something out quickly without a ton of setup or tweaking, sooo maybe the ONE is better for that. Idk. Gonna wait for now.

I can't say enough great things about the new MPC series.

    • @regend762
      @regend762 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think this is an important question everyone has as well as if there is a choke option. So far, yes, we can load in our own wav files to create custom kits. it is the same functionality as the TR-8s. At the bare minimum there should be Attack, HoldMode, HoldTime, and HoldStep functions. Editing may be limited to start, end, gain, instrument category, and sample name. I need to read the manual however to confirm.

    • @regend762
      @regend762 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just read the manual and they have different names for the options on how you can use Drum Kits and Loops. Unfortunately drum kits cannot be time stretched. Only pitch with course and fine. However, with all the parameters to use for the sequencer, some interesting patterns can be created with the reverse and release options. Effects can also be applied like delay. Mutes are handled by...mute buttons...could be nice to perform mutes live and is stored in sequencer playback. Here is the intersting part: FWD,
      REV, FWD+REV, INV, RND for the Sequencer. Looks like a lot of fun.

    hi there, maybe someone already asked for this, but for me it is something important... it is possible to apply different sounds to each clip ? i mean, i pick track 2 with Tone engine and then select a determinate synth voice for clip1, then select another synth voice for clip 2 under the same track, etc etc ? this way it would be feasible to use it as a sort of Ableton hardware for real. it is not clear to me after seeing the demos and reading the manual if this is possible or not. if so, then it can be a great machine for develop a live show with practically only this gear. otherwise if you can only have the same sound on all the clips under a track then you have 8 different ‘sounds’ at a time and if you want to change the sound palette you need to stop and change project on the fly which automatically falls into a non-value-machine for real live shows...

    This is the most interesting product I've seen them bring out in a while, and the performance controls look really useful. Sadly, the price is too high, just like their Jupiter-X, at least for a more mass-market company.
    It would've really been smart if they'd allowed for multiple instrument inputs for a proper desktop looper, allowed for Mono L and Mono R recording (say 4 mono) and given 8 tracks of MIDI like the Digitakt rather than forcing you to choose between MIDI and internal sounds on a track. Seems rather silly to lose an audio track in order to use an external one. Not sure there's anything to be gained there, so adding those features would help justify its price better IMO.

      BoBeats this sounds promising workaround for drumkit slicing, so you could load the same sample 16 times on one track (I’m guessing it would only take up memory space of one instance of the sample?)?
      Do you get pitch etc per sample (Per slice in this case)?
      Can you sample in to the looper, save sample to card, then import that to drum? Or do you need to use a computer? Really surprising you can’t just sample straight in to the drum sampler :(

      All tracks are stereo. I dont know wether individual drum parts are stereo or mono, but a drum track in its totality is stereo. The synth engine is a zen core engine, it can mimic a lot of classic sounds but there’s no 1:1 classic

      Hi@@BoBeats (A) Are these synth engines able to import custom synth and wav sounds and if so, (B) is it from the Super Natural library series? If not, then (C) which format other than wav can be imported from Roland's library? (D) Is the MC-707 considered a true hybrid synth having the controls you would find on a standalone synth and not a rompler? In the line of questioning, I am trying to evaluate the price point with performance ratio. In other-words, did Roland marketing team toss these synths as a teaser - in that, as a stand-alone synths, they do not compare nor stand up to Roland's synths. For instance, can the synth engine's perimeters be edit or is somewhat limited to the number of oscillators per voice, filters, wave types and LOFs? (E) Summary, are these synth engines a watered down version of what Roland offers in there standalone synths?
      The Akia MPC One also has a synth which I would have to ask these same questions.

      @@bobcatt2294 "Synth" engine is basically the same PCM synth you will find almost in every professional Roland worsktation plus "supernatural" synth sounds. Think about it as FA synth minus keyboard, minus 8 parts, minus linear sequencer, minus acoustic "supernatural" sounds, minus big screen and no expansion slots, but it has better controls for pattern creation, dedicated 8 track controls and extra connections FA lacks. Also it doubles number of sounds onboard, but this is useless, since no one needs 30 patches of "saw pad", or 40-50 piano patches. With updates (now 1.30) MC-707 is well worth 1000 euros they ask, but only if you don't have another gear already.
      A) no, MC-707 can't import wav sounds to use as patches, you can do on Juno DS/Fantom G. It's different engine by Roland, you can't do this even on newest Fantom. If you interested in sound creation MC-707 isn't for that. While synth engine is there, but changing parameters with very small screen will be frustratingly slow, also newest "scene" mode Roland pushes doesn't help either, they basically encourage user to search for a right sounding patch, not to create or edit one by yourself. Though there is zencore editor on Roland Cloud.
