    I hear on the grapevine that Rakali water rats like a feed of redfin ;) Great video mate. My favourite fishing also. Been getting hundreds of reddies this season. The buggers sure are on the chew this year. I think it is because the weather has been more in their comfort zone and it has not been the typical boiling hot summer we usually get.

      Haha that footage you captured having a tug of war with the water rat was amazing mate, if anyone here hasn't seen it, go check out Andrew's video on his channel it's unreal. I agree about the weather being the likely cause for the redfin activity this year, but I'm certainly not complaining I'm having loads of fun chasing them hahaha

      @@RKJFishing I am still in disbelief about that rat. If I didn't have video proof, no-one would believe me lol. I have had a strange season. PB Water Rat, PB Lost Rod caught... the last few weeks have been very weird 😂🤣

    Good session and some nice sized redfin. Great tasting fish. You know how many times I’m fishing in the middle of absolute nowhere, and somebody comes along. And Canada isn’t that small either.👍🏻🇨🇦

      Thanks mate! Yeah the law says they aren't allowed to be transported while alive, they are trying to prevent them from spreading to other waterways where they don't already exist

      Thanks heaps Shamus! I usually keep it fairly simple, just fillet them, a light coating of flour, and then fry with a tiny touch of olive oil. This time I egged and crumbed the fillets for something different, but still shallow fried in olive oil

    Hi again rkj, do u know what the best lure/soft plastic is for Redfin because I have a few lakes with Redfin in them and I only catch like 1 fish each time I go there on a motor oil grub soft plastic?

      Hi again mate, I've seen you a few times tonight haha! Everyone likes different types of plastics, but I reckon the paddle grubs from Jigglefishing are unreal - I recommend the phantom, green speck, or pink bitz colours.

      Thanks mate, I'm actually very happy with the way it worked while wading, although I wouldn't mind putting some kind of hoop in the bottom of it so it stayed more open for the fish, they kept getting stuck in the mesh, I reckon thats why 1 of them went belly up

    Do you struggle with the mud at waranga at all? I went out last week and the mud was over my knees, but maybe it was just the spot I was at.

      Some spots can be quite muddy, but other spots can be OK. There's grassy and rocky areas around Harriman's point that aren't too bad for mud

      The shorelines are littered with small ones Mick, but there are some whoppers out in the middle near the deep drop offs if you're in a boat!

    Story time with Noah:
    I took one of my friends out fishing but he had no idea what he was doing so I undid his drag the to point of nothing and told him to cast over towards the bank (grass under the water) and he did and got caught on the grass. He started cranking it and is yelling to me 'i got one, I got one, Noah I got one I'm here laughing my ass off and he's telling me to get it🤣

      I try not to name exact spots, that way only people who already know it will recognize it so there's no major harm done most of the time, although with landmark places like weirs it's hard to hide haha

      I had a couple of 28's in there (measured at home) but you're right it's definitely off a touch. It's been too long since I caught redfin that weren't sardines, I was out of practice LOL
