I've been there in Harward, California during covid that was Feb. 2020 and then staying for 6 months and back to the Philippines. Yup before SB19 💙 Stell 🍓 Lea Salonga is my favorite because I grew up watching Disney princesses. And I love musical play. Her voice is so perfect for even with high notes it seems relaxed, just like how Stell is. She is still my favorite but with SB19 💙 with it now. And I'm excited for you both to see the Philippines. I was born and raised there but moved to America.

sb19 wasn't accepted by many filos when they started because ppop wasn't really a thing back then. ballads are the strong suit in the Philippines reason why sb19's debut single was also a ballad in an attempt to capture netizens attention but failed and one of the big reasons why is because pop groups in general don't really have good reputations before. we don't have organized and strict training systems for singers. the singers that we have now are popular because they were already good and not because they were trained to be good. a lot of filipinos do great in both singing and dancing but they usually do it separately. if you sing, you only sing. you dance, you only dance. that's how it was before. artists who do both are very rare and if there is someone who could actually pull it off, it's only a few solo artists. so when pop groups attemped to do the same, it's not as polished as how people want it be and did not reach expectations(again bc there were no trainings for this). groups that are produced before sb19 were labeled as cringy, trying hard to be westernized like one direction, etc. that's why when they were introduced as a filipino group trained by a korean company, the reactions people had was that it's "another trying hard boyband" and this time a "kpop wannabe" without even watching their outputs assuming sb19's level is the same as the boy groups we had before . people had in their minds , why not stick to what we're actually good at? ballads and rnb. not until their dance practice video was posted and people started to notice that they're different, it was not cringy at all. they were actually good dancers, no lame choreographies, and a really good song. that's when the narrative changed, people realized there could actually be a pop group who's worth looking forward. from there, pop groups started popping out and this time they were actually trained to be their best.

There’s still a lot of Filos who don’t know them SB19. Not even half of our adult population. 😂 In My Family, I am the only one who have heard of them and is now trying to introduce their songs. I am actually eagerly waiting for them to blow internationally, that’s when all these uninterested Pinoys will take notice and totally accept them. Lea Salonga is not famous in our country before she got the role in Miss Saigon. Regine is just one of those voives before she won competitions abroad. I noticed KZ Tandingan and Morissette Amon only when they got famous outside the country. Probably, mainly because I am not really a fan of OPM. The only Filipino songs that connected with me before are the songs of the band Asin and “Anak” of Freddie Aguilar. I just happened to discover SB19 last Oct. 2023 by accident through yt, I accidentally press their video in yt while I am working on my presentations (I usually listen to music while doing it.😂). At first I thought it was KPop (I don’t like KPop too). I right away liked the beat so I let it continue, until a I realized that they were singing in Tagalog. It was Bazinga. I watched the whole video and felt so glad that we were able to produce such kind of music. I got curious and checked out the “What” which was mentioned. That started my SB19 and PPop journey. Now, I discovered Alamat’s “Maharani” and Horizon’s “Sixteen”, Lola Amour’s “ Raining in Manila”. The Yes My Love Group are also phenomenal when it comes to voices.
Our guys, SB19 Boys for now are still unmatched when it comes to their charisma, song composition and lyrics, productions, and artistry. Individualy? They are special too. Pablo and Stell are talented from day 1. Ken/Felip has a very lovely voice tone but never expected that he is actually an Artist waiting to be unleashed. Josh is a great dancer and rapper …Look at him now! Another Artist unleashed. Justin, was their supposed to be visual… not realizing that he is another creative genius waiting to be unleashed. He is the creative brain behind those beautiful MVs.
I felt so blessed to have found them. They made life happy and interesting again.😊
I am sure there will be more Filipinos that would come out and try to be the best that they can be someday because of the inspiring stories you shared here.😅

Lea Salonga 🥰 Unbelievable voice!! I was lucky to see her on Broadway in Miss Saigon when she returned in 1999. The show was mind blowing. And her performance in the Les Miserable 10th anniversary concert was legendary. I absolutely adore her. I own her albums (I wore out the Christmas one) and love that she is a proud BTS army with V being her bias. I will always hope for a collaboration at some point. 💜💜
