- Five-year-old Logan Bowman went missing in Virginia 20 years ago. His remains were found last year and traced back to Bowman after a man from out of town found them in a trash bag. WSLS’s Abbie Coleman reports.

Oh, that's horrible. The worst thing about cases like this is that the boy probably spent his last moments in pain and terror. And then he gets thrown out with the trash. RIP little buddy. 😢
It’s honestly so hard to like this comment because it’s so sad. It’s horrible to even imagine what this poor little boy endured. No child should ever have to suffer and be murdered in the end. This one shatters my heart.

My heart breaks for any child that's the victim of a sick, cruel, heartless psycho. May his little soul be in a much loving afterlife.
He was likely neglected as a child. You can see in his photo he wasn't well cared for.

@@fadetoblond Thanks for getting this. I basically had to raise myself. I was called stretch and beanpole in 5th grade and severely malnourished. When I was 16 I was given the opportunity to leave my family by the state.

It’s sad because an innocent child was murdered. Not because it was some missed opportunity for a childless couple who wouldn’t have abused him.

I can’t imagine the pain and suffering this little boy endured in his short life. Or how traumatizing it was for the person who discovered his remains.

My son is 25 years old. He turned into a young man so fast, I can't even believe how fast. LOGAN never had the opportunity to become a young men like my son did.
He will never grow up, he will remain forever a child who never knew real love from his mom, poor child😢 I hope his soul is at peace now.

Logan would have been the same age as my daughter too. It's heartbreaking. As big as she's gotten I couldn't imagine being without my baby girl. Rest in peace little man xxxx

…. Try watching the whole video weirdo. The boys mother was charged for second-degree murder and convicted and spent 15 years in prison (she’s long been out of prison and finished probation). Her then-boyfriend had his charges dropped for lack of evidence that he was involved despite allegations that he may have been.

Judging by the boy's teeth, he obviously wasn't cared for or about. So sad.
The mother and her boyfriend were convicted of neglect and murder back when it happened in 2003, they just never found the boys remains until September of 2022

_"Logan was reportedly last seen at home on January 7, 2003, but his mother did not report him missing until January 23, over two weeks after his disappearance. She could not explain the reasons for the delay. A month after Logan's disappearance, his mother, Cynthia Lee Davis, was charged with child endangerment._
_Logan was scalded on his legs, feet, groin, and buttocks before his disappearance and Davis never took him to a doctor. Davis's boyfriend, Dennis "Danny" Schermerhorn, was also charged in connection with the incident. Authorities stated Schermerhorn gave conflicting statements about Logan's case._
_Teachers at Logan's school say they noticed bruises on his body in December."_
It also says that it was firstly when Logan's biological father threatened to call the police after they repeatedly wouldn't let him see Logan, that they reported him missing.
So yeah, definitely didn't just walk off.
Lil man, I'm sorry that there was no one to protect you from what these evil people did. It hurts me to think of the pain and fear you experienced.

Thank goodness for the man that found his remains. That is just something one can never forget. Poor boy never had a chance. I saw his father in a few other clips. I wonder why he couldn't have stepped in if he knew the boy wasn't being treated right.
He was in jail himself.
Because moms and the courts do everything they can to keep kids away from their fathers.
He dropped him off on Christmas Day and never saw him again. 😢

Being a mother of a 2 year old boy this brings tears to me eyes the pain he felt in the last moments of his short life and there was no one there to comfort him save him. He is in heaven now with the Lord and safe where no one can ever harm him again.

That makes me so sad. My son was born in 2002 and he’s 21 years old now… an adult and that sweet boy never got the chance.
This is beyond sickening and disturbing. She's the one person who was supposed to protect him, make him feel safe and loved. The person he went to when he was scared or upset to comfort him.

Thank God for Othram Labs in Texas! They are helping law enforcement solve so many cold cases. These killers can not hide from DNA any longer, due to Othram’s advancements in extracting old DNA. 🙏 I’m praying many more families finally have answers.

I live in Elk Creek, Virginia (in Grayson County right next to Galax). I travel on this road all the time. It's a beautiful place to live. This is so tragic, but I know this little boy is in the arms of Jesus 🕊. And I pray for justice for him.
Yes, Grayson County is beautiful. My family has lived there since the 1800s, although few are still there at this point in time. I’m so saddened to hear about that precious little soul. I’ll never understand how anyone could harm a child.
Ashley and Kat I would be so sad driving past or on that road. Used to happen to me passing the cemetery my friend and her daughter are buried at. I would be red eyed and balling trying to go grocery shopping. It took years to not react like that.

I think parenting skills should be taught in schools. How awful for the child. RIP
You didn’t carry around the flour bag? Or the realistic doll? These were both popular when I was in junior high. We also had home economics, foods and health classes. At no point did you have any of those classes? Also, being a parent is very complex and you will either accept the responsibilities or shrug them. I’m not sure any amount of schooling would help and we did get a lot. You didn’t?

As bad or personal as this response sounds, I swear to god it is not a slight at you. I am smart enough to blame the school curriculum lately. The idea of a young lady leaving high school and having never threaded a sewing machine is absurd, not saying you hadn’t but it sounds like it didn’t happen at school. I’m talking generally about the upcoming generation. As you can probably tell I represent a generation who graduated circa 2000. My best advice is to work hard, earn money and travel. See all the things school can’t give anyway. Good luck out there, not because you are dumb but because your peers may be. Have the smarts to understand the risk they pose. If they weren’t taught to separate colors in the washing machine or which settings to use, how could they know how to treat a lady?

How is it a new owner found the remains and not the police 20 years ago? I'm sure the property was searched when the boy disappeared.

Why is it that people who shouldn't have children often end up having them? In this day and age, there are numerous ways to prevent unwanted pregnancy, so there's absolutely no excuse!

Oh, yeah this isn't an unusual situation unfortunately. The mother (or the abusive bf) "gets rid of the child" because "it" is a bothersome hindrance in "their relationship". (A mother will also, in an attempt to hold onto a relationship, do something drastic on her own, if she feels the child or children stand in the way.) Its getting one or the other to flip on their confession about who's idea it was and who did what. I hope now justice can be served.
Then find a couple looking to adopt, plenty out there who want a baby and can't have any...sick people.

It just hit me that his mother is already out of prison. And she still left him out there in a garbage bag. Hopefully the boyfriend will face charges now and receive a harsher sentence than she did. This case is the perfect example of why some prosecutors hold off on charges until remains are found.

I remember this case well, my husband worked with the father and Logan was about the same age as my oldest at the time. Such a heartbreaking case, but I'm glad his body was finally found and his family can have some closure.
Well, if the mother was sentenced for murder she can't be charged again. She got 15 years so she is probably out by now.

Sheriff said they never quit looking, but a new home owner from out of town spots a bag with bodily remains . Glad the case is solved ,but Sheriff can't take credit for this closed case
