Hi, I love building card kits but I always found the chimney stacks and roof join to be messy so I came up with an easy, cheap solution, lead flashing made from cigarette papers. You can just cut the glue strip off and use that or if you need it wider then PVA the whole piece that you need. Colour it before sticking it on with a broad soft pencil then it actually looks like lead.
@@DonegalDadRail Cheers mate, it really improves the look. I paint the white edges of the kit windows and doors with diluted but not soaking wet, kids water paints from Asda before assembly then its already done before the building is finished. Another good tip I learnt was to lay a sheet of fine emery paper face down over the kit before you cut it out and roll over it a couple of times with a rolling pin to give the printed surface a bit of fine texture, it sort of breaks up the uniformity of the print. I love the idea of using spacers behind the windows before fitting the curtains, I'll have to try that.
Great video. I’ve got a few Metcalfe kits on my layout. I find that the Rocket card glue sets so quickly you don’t have a lot of time to adjust the position if you don’t get it right first time. Good job on that one. Roy.
I have watched Richard at Trains in the Attic, among others, use these, and I continue to be impressed. Nice work and they are definitely a nice addition.
Hi ya Mark. I like these kits. I get e-mails from Metcalfe all the time. I might break down and try one. Although I’m an N scaler, so it might be a little fiddlely. Nicely done Mark. See ya.
I just subscribed. I live in Florida, And model in N scale. I had the privilege to travel to Doneraile in County Cork, to bask in my heritage. ☘️ What was the other channel you mentioned?
Thanks Kevin, I love florida have been there 3 times, although it is a bit warm for me. The Channel I mentioned at the begining was Roof Railways www.youtube.com/@RoofRailways101train He hasn't posted anything for a while I think he is busy with college. Thanks Mark

Thanks Roy that's what I like about the rocket card glue, but you are right it doesn't leave much margin for error.

Excellent video. Where can I get some of those magnetic corners? Have looked everywhere but cannot find them.
Thank you Brian, I got my corner clamps here www.scalecast.co.uk/store/p343/MAG01.html#/
Nice video. Btw, I find using coloured pencils is cheap and effective for the exposed edges. Cheers.
Great tip! Thanks
