I just want to say your deserve every bit of the success that you have enjoyed over the years. At Sixty Four years of age I have been a modeler making Airfix Kits and Model Railways and the like for over Fifty years. In recent years have come across your very own Metcalfe Kits and have so thoroughly enjoyed building them for both myself and others. Most kits I have built many times over. They are without doubt the most wonderful and most detailed and realistic card kits I have ever come across and I just want you to know how much pleasure they have given me over the years. .. Thank you Metcalfe.
I just bought my very first kit at a Model Railway show here in Dublin, just before Christmas. I am considering building my first model railway set up with my grandson after nearly fifty years since my last one. So I decided to try out one of your kits, the OO Corner Shop, to see if I could make a good go of it. To say it went well would be an understatement, and this is not to blow my own trumpet, far from it. I have built quite a few Airfix kits over the years and would always pay great attention to details BUT I was blown away with the quality of the card finish, the laser cutting finishing, and the precise and at light-hearted instructions. I have since completed another four kits, each manufactured by you to the high standard of my first purchase. If I never build another one I will be very happy with just having had the pleasure of building these few. Continued success with your endeavours, you've set the standard high for all other kit suppliers.
Great to see this grass-roots company doing well. I only have a couple of their models (but one is the large stone church!) which I use for 20mm wargaming.
These kits are amazing and beat anything made with 3D plastic printers hands down. The detail and realism are first class. I model in N scale and these kits look like real buildings. Plastic buildings look like toys.
That is amazing you have such a wonderful setup and great business too... Its a shame you could not find time to carry on this channel, but I expect finding time was the problem... Great stuff will be ordering my first model soon...
I have bought and built other kits from various manufacturers, but I have to admit that none of the others have the same attention to detail as Metcalfe kits do. My particular favourites would be the Signal box, the covered Footbridge and the stone/brick finish Corner shop kits. PS, I forgot to mention the laser cut Signal box interior furniture pack. Yours, Gordon Taylor, Methil, Fife, Scotland.
I would love to see an updated video of this. Also some info on how the die cutters are made. It looks as though they are made per set and not from a configurable system of dies?
I've built a few layouts but just building my first card buildings. So I went for Metcalfe kits. So far, so good. The styles seem suited to my Victorian layout 'Terror St' and I like the fact I can easily customise them as extra parts are often included in the kits.
Absolutely beautiful and easy to build quality kits. Watch their video how to content especially the water colour edging a must for the perfect finish. Don’t use felt tip pens too dark and unforgiving if you make mistake it will not wash off but water colours do. I’ve just started populating my Layout with Metcalfe kits and taken off my downloaded kits simply because the time you have paid for the ink and different card not mention windows it’s simply not cost effective. Buy with confidence from theses people you will not regret it and for the record I’m not sponsored by them either the product sells all on its own.

How do you make the glazing for the kits though?
Printed clear sheet, it’s on one of the other videos.
