It's so scary, the amount of contempt abusers/rapists/killers feel for their victims, even though the victims were kind and showed compassion towards them. This shows that no amount of love or affection can reform abusers/rapists.

You just never know if or when your family will be taken from you. People always assume that if they get married and have kids, they will be surrounded by family when they die. But when your family leaves this earth before you, you end up alone. There are no guarantees in life. Be grateful for your loved ones and tell them you love them as often as you can.

The police ignore it when she's reported missing, but the second someone says drugs might be involved they immediately raid her home. Disgusting where their priorities are at.

    • @showme21
      @showme21 ปีที่แล้ว

The thing they said to her about having to wait 48 hours is a myth. In most of the civilised world the police have to start looking immediately and you dont have to wait any time before you report missing person.
On the contrary when looking for a missing person experts will tell you that the first 24-48 hours is actually the most important.
TL DR: Having to wait to report missing person is a myth. Please make sure everybory knows it.

How many "they probably ran away" theories have to be proven wrong before they figure out your average adult doesn't just run away. Not even teenagers or kids for that matter. Is it just me or should pets being left behind immediately throw up red flags & the ran away theory taken off the table. People don't leave their pets behind. Esp locked in a cage or inside a house where they could potentially starve & suffer a very cruel demise.

The results from the DNA tests done on the bed sheets, door knob and on the rugs that came back to Rick Ennis were discovered 10 years later ... not 20 ... although I totally agree that someone (or a few someones) dropped the ball. It's especially egregious when you consider the envelope that contained those results had never been opened.

I live in Montgomery and I don't recall hearing about this case. My heart was hurting for Lori and her mom throughout watching this. I even pictured myself walking those tracks and the area where her car was found.
Do you recall whether there was a thorough search of the areas surrounding her car?
I wish we could organize a volunteer search for Lori, for I'd drive there and help.
I hope and pray she's found and gives a proper burial with her family while her Mom is still here to see...it would give her so much closure. This case really hit me, and it's nice to read your comment about Lori. Her kindness shows in all of her photos. 😞🙏

In a case where a juvenile has committed a double homicide, his/her record should not be sealed because people need to know what they're dealing with. If the murderer gets released, they should be closely monitored for the rest of their life.

The most infuriating cases like this are in Britain where juvenile offenders get to just start a whole new life with a new identity, and any press outlet "outs" them, they can sue. Look up the Mary Bell case, your blood will boil.

It's because of the fact he was charged as a juvenile. In Alabama, one has to be at least 14 to be charged with certain crimes as an adult and because he was only 12 years old when he killed his parents, the law prevented him from getting locked up even longer. Crazy thing is, 14 is still the age minimum for juveniles to be charged as adults in Alabama. What this episode doesn't mention but other local articles in Alabama do mention is, Rick's step-sisters are trying to get the state legislature to update that age minimum law by proposing to eliminate the age minimum all together.

I worked with Arlene, a great and compassionate nurse and was Lori’s mom. Lori was just as kind as Arlene stated in this video. It was a Terrible day at work when Arlene got that call. It took forever for this to go to trial, with so many disappointing delays. But finally, justice was served, but to this very day, Ennis has not disclosed where Lori’s body is located. Arlene continues to be a very Strong and Stoic woman. Every night, in my prayers, I continue to ask God to bring Lori home to her mother.

Is she still working with you or has she retired now? Her life must be a constant state of sadness. Did she ever say how 48 Hours got her to agree to do this show? Do they pay the families to do this? I always wonder about that because I have been watching crime shows since Forensic Files first came out in 94 and I wonder how these shows get the victim's families to talk relive it and talk so much about it.

@@TWHISPERER I retired in 2019 and had not gone to trial. The only thing she said was in a post on her Facebook page, saying that an episode on 48 Hours, featuring Lori’s disappearance was going to be on such & such date and time. I was not a close personal friend of Arlene, but a a coworker and saw and spoke to her everyday. The kind of questions you mention, would not be appropriate for me to ask. What happened to Lori and Arlene is not something you expect to happen to people you know, work with and care about, especially in smaller cities. Auburn is a college town not a big metro city, like say, New York. It was a shock to all who knew Arlene and of course, Lori. So happy for Arlene that Ennis was convicted and to remain in prison for the rest of his natural life, without the chance of parole. I just wish he would tell where Lori’s remains were placed or buried, either that or wish someone would discover her remains. My personal opinion, is that Lori’s remains are somewhere in the Tuskegee National Forest; none of us know, only Ennius.

I understand and agree that juvenile criminals should have different treatment by the law from adult criminals. But when the crimes involve a "profound" level of violence I think authorities need to recognize the kid could be permanently dangerous. Any kid who murders his parents at 12 years old is DEEPLY disturbed. He needs -- at a minimum -- to be continuously monitored perhaps into his senior years.

How many times do we have to debunk the "they probably ran away" theory before realizing that most adults, teenagers, and even kids don't just vanish willingly? The fact that people leave behind their pets, often locked in cages or confined inside houses, should be a glaring red flag. It’s highly unusual for someone to abandon their beloved animals, knowing they could suffer and starve. This should be a clear indicator that something more sinister is at play, and the runaway theory should be discarded immediately in such cases. The well-being of pets can be a crucial clue in understanding the gravity of a disappearance.

This is actually a real thing that used to be done in china/Japan I believe- anyone who got into any kind of trouble got 3 strikes. Each time they would get a tattoo of something on their forehead or face- once they got to the third tattoo they were sentenced to death. As soon as they got the first tattoo they couldn’t get jobs, housing, etc. they were out casted.. I wish they would bring this back for certain people!

@@laurenS94 I, personally think we have gone too soft on punishment. Many inmates are doing better than working people on the outside. Yes it is true inmates can not just take a drive to the beach or have that freedom.
However people on the outside are unable to afford to do it. They are unable to take a day off work, pay for gas ect. The freedom is there to do it, however, they are imprisoned by just surviving. Paying rent, insurance, health, food, taxes. They must work everyday 9-10 hours just to have what law breakers are given.
