I have to say, the 'Mira under the sheet' trick was one of the highlights of all my adventures. What a sweet dog she is! Any of you have fun stories about sneaking dogs into hotels?

We had an English setter that was quiet and took just about everything in stride like Mira, snuck her into more than one hotel during our travels in our younger years, usually by the back door but never in a bed sheet, brilliant!! Whole family loves the channel and John and Mira, beautiful videography, so inspiring!
Not impressed!
We travel with 3 rescue dogs. (Yes, we're idiots). To stay in a hotel you have to pay per dog soooo, we often fess up to having one larger dog and sneak the other two small dogs in our reusable grocery bags. And then pray all three dogs don't bark at the same time and give us away.

I love the trio videos, of course I still love the individual journeys but the trios give John and Ryan someone to bounce off instead of talking to a camera.
Yeah I remember when he first met John, John had heard of him but was still not totally comfortable with the whole idea. Now they make a great team!
The 'Ashphalt" conversation really made me notice - John has a great voice that, IMO, could be suited to narrating documentaries (Attenborough style!). Love watching these adventures, Ryan, and love when you have John and Mira with you!

Hi neighbour, I’ve been following your adventure. Firstly I’m so relieved that you didn’t encounter the cartels. Secondly I’m more relieved you didn’t have to ride on the toll road between Mazatlan and Durango. It’s a crazy road to drive in my truck let alone on a bicycle. I shared a screen grab with Kayla of you in Durango, and she said “The neighbour in la plaza de armas with elotes! I’m glad he visit my tiny town” You received the best advice at the bike shop. Changing plans was disappointing but on balance the right decision. Thanks for sharing this with us, along with your unique perspectives and comparisons with your journey through Mexico 17 years ago. It’s clear you have a deep love of the country

In the high-end automotive world, there is the sedan and then there is the LWB sedan (or long wheel base) John certainly has the LWB bike!
Frost, Frijoles, Muffins, "Mira Smugglers", two giggling adults, Bouncy Mexican music and a myriad of new connections made.

So cool, you are getting closer some of my ancestrals roots, my mothers family left Zacatecas in 1598 to San Elizario Texas. Some of my fathers family landed in Teocalthiche Jalisco, near Aguascalientes and they settled in a small Rancho of Gavilan de Abajo, in 1560's and many of my family is still there, may you feel the warmth and hospitality. Safe travels.

The memories 💛💛💛💛💛of driving down highway 45, when it was a 2 lane total, and going miles without seeing anything other than cows, goats, farm vehilces and rarely a car, but that was the late 70's then early 80's.

What a great video. Mira is the queen for sure. To bad about the route change but being fluid is so important. I always tell my wife I may come home with a puppy I find along side of the road. Hasn't happened yet but we did find an abandoned kitten years ago. We named him Lost and Found. Take care, Al

It's weird finding frost in a place like that. We woke up to frost on our bikes and bags in the middle of the Australian Outback - Frost with a red sand backdrop - very strange.... Warm frijoles makes it better though!
And sneaking Mira through that hotel was hilarious.
Warm frijoles fixes everything!
The Frost is from the earth, radiating to the clear night sky, which is at absolute zero degrees.
So yes, you can make ice out in the desert at night when it's above freezing. Works best with a black surface and no overcast.

Those highways looked like hell on earth! I only cycle on roads but I'm blessed to have beautiful quiet roads to enjoy here in Scotland, 63 miles of fun today😁Mira wrapped up in the blanket really was the highlight🤣She really is a special dog, loved the video once again👌

Shame about the plastic,we've got it here, the kids seem to think any Bush is a bin for plastic bottles, be safe out there guys. Mira is a great dog, our VERA would be barking at every opportunity. You just reminded me we took our first dog 'ben' on our first weekend away after being wed.

Great video, and Holy Cow! At 25:00 you described exactly how I feel about road touring vs off-road touring, bikepacking. I've cycled across the U.S. three times (first time in 1984) drivers today have gotten more aggressive and careless. Rail trails, canal trails, and gravel roads are peaceful while offering up a different frame of mind. On my very last road tour across the Southern Tier Route, I wore a yellow highway safety vest with two daylight visible blinking red lights on my rack. Safe travels, happy trails!

Ryan, it's so nice to see your bike trip videos again and seeing things getting back to normal! These last couple of years have been tough and forced me to care for an elderly family member so I can't take any bike trips myself but I'll just watch your videos instead and just bike around town when I can!

I know for myself the older I have gotten the less I like cycling on busy roads. In the Eastern Shore of Maryland where we are now for a month I certainly would love your bicycle with all the dirt roads here.
