Sandra Doorley issues apology after traffic stop controvery

  • Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley has issued a video statement - her first since the controversy surrounding her not pulling over for a traffic stop in Webster.
Doorley's statement makes no reference to resigning. Instead she says she will take ethics training and will "make this right."
One week ago, Webster Police attempted to pull Doorley over on Phillips Road for going 55 mph in a 35 mph zone. Instead of pulling over, Doorley said she called Webster Police Chief Dennis Kohlmeier to inform him that she was not a threat. She said that she would talk to the officer at her house.
Doorley released a statement on Thursday admitting to speeding.
On Friday, the Town of Webster released body camera footage showing Doorley's contentious interaction with an officer at her house.
In her statement, Doorley said she didn't treat the officer "with the respect he deserves."
The video release has prompted many local officials to call for her resignation. Overnight, Governor Hochul released a statement saying she was referring the DA to the State Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct - which has the authority to "review and investigate the conduct of prosecutors."
The video has received national attention and was featured on Good Morning America Monday morning.
    Doorley's statement in full:
"Last Monday, I failed you and the standards I hold myself to, and for that, I’m so sorry. What I did was wrong. No excuses. I take full responsibility for my actions. I fell short of the values I’ve held for my entire 33-year career. I didn’t treat this officer with the respect he deserves. All police officers deserve respect. I am truly and sincerely sorry. I’d just come from work. I was dealing with three homicides that occurred over the weekend. I watched a video where an innocent cab driver was executed, and I was still reeling from a frightening medical concern that my husband received that afternoon. But we all have bad days and stress, and it was wrong for me to take it out on an officer who was simply doing his job. While I previously apologized to him, I will say it again. I’m sorry. Police already have a tough job, and that day I made this officer's job harder. To the community, I owe you full transparency. Here’s what I’m doing to hold myself accountable. First, I had already plead guilty to the speeding ticket, and I will willingly pay the fine. Next, I am referring the entire matter to a district attorney from another county for review and will fully cooperate with that investigation. I’m going to self-report this incident to the grievance committee, and I’ll cooperate with their investigation. Finally, if one of my assistant district attorneys had acted this way, I would’ve disciplined them. So I’m disciplining myself. I will take ethics training to remind myself that professionalism matters. I’ve been humbled by my own stupidity, and I’m fully to blame. I will make this right. I ask for your forgiveness."

Even though she is the head and public face of the office, there are other people who are working under her supervision. As hypocritical as that may seem, they may be decent and just people who are trying to do their job correctly. The current issue with her being a true point of contention for the community she serves and beyond as this story has gone viral on TH-cam and her behavior was utterly atrocious and unacceptable by most of the viewing community..I can certainly appreciate any and all attempts made by members of that community to use that argument before the courts and make that attempt. Many of them probably have just as much, or better chances, choosing to argue about her actions in court. I'm making these statements as someone with no experience with the law and in my many decades, I haven't even ever gotten a speeding ticket, but have dealt with many throughout my ex-husband's trucking career. Sadly, I've always seen the "Rules for thee, but not for me" attitude in most cases during this time period. However, you did a nice job in the original body cam video explaining that you can speed [endangering innocent lives] whenever and wherever you please because your office prosecutes these crimes, and naturally why would you prosecute yourself, [because you are above the law or maybe, you ARE the law]?

If I were darker skinned Id have been beaten when I walked into my house, and possibly been taken down at gun point or the cop wouldve ran out of my garage and called it a standoff and sent swat in. After all that Id be institutionalized and been forced to align with some form of prison gang where Id have little options for survival while incarcerated. When and if I was finally released Id be second in line behind the white guy with a felony and my only employment options would be at a company that hires felons for the purpose of exploitation.
But I want to express the fact that in the grand scheme of things the powers are doing this to all of us. They use race as a weapon to keep the poor and average citizens fighting each other and distrusting ine another so we cant focus on what they are getting away with.
Democrats and Liberals and Republicans are all evil. They all promise minorities help that only destroys generations of families, and none of them are working for us normal folks. Theyre perpetuating racism and hate, but if they just left us alone provided jobs and homes we'd all be BBQ in the backyard with our neighbors and living in peace with one another.
Thats the biggest threat that we refuse to tolerate their evil and we the normal folks just get along.
The last thing they want is to have us all agree that they create problems that dont exist to make laws that provide a false solution and then attach all of our hard earned tax money to a program that they suck dry of all the cash and leave the citizens with even nore problems.
THIS WOMAN RIGHT HERE (once a Democrat now a Republican) is one of those people, shes just robbing the public and abusing her power while pretending to serve us. If I had it my way she would be exiled from the USA along with the rest of the politicians after serving her sentence, which should be an average equivalent to the cases where she charged us nirmal people. I dont believe in defunding police....I believe in defunding politicians.
Politicians should live in a modest public owned campus while serving. Receiving a modest salary and benefits. However they should not be able to invest in ANYTHING other than a 401k so that they cannot benefit from lobbying and bribes. They should be audited every month by a committee of regular citizens who can ask whatever questions they want about their finances and that committee should have the authority to appoint their opponent during the election until a new election is conducted. @@Gabi-lt4mx Look up Sandra Dooley and Daniel Prude. There was a call for her resignation then, too. This is from 2021:
"Advocates also called for the resignation of Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley. When asked for a response Thursday, her office released the following statement: "As I have stated before, I was re-elected by the people of Monroe County to serve as the District Attorney. Upon signing the Oath of Office, I made a pledge and a commitment to the people of this community that I will serve as the District Attorney to promote justice and public safety. I have no intention of resigning and will continue to serve the residents of Monroe County.”

Nothing but a fake apology. She doesn't mean it. She knows that she should lose her job so she's trying to look sorry.
Fire her and charge her for criminal misconduct!
