Yes their Customer acquisition strategy is very good, I referred 5 to 6 friends to use Zerodha not for referral money but just to make them use the good platform but after few months I had 3000 in my referral account...which i was shocked. That's when I realised how much influencers can make if their users starts trading with that account
Note: other brokers and exchanges in India are also good and have a different path. Many will still do well :)

Being a zerodha user from 2013 onwards, even though I opened account in many other brokers, only thing I like about zerodha is not varsity, not zero charge, no other feature... But SIMPLICITY of CHARTS .
Love your content. The way you present makes it even more interesting. But I feel you missed out on a very important USP that made Zerodha stand out from others - The platform itself!
In the days when most broker platforms looked like Windows 3.1, Zerodha offered a simple but intuitive UI. Not just that, if you study UX design principles, the UX is so simple that it actually makes you trade more, thus brining more revenue to the organisation. I personally feel the platform is what propelled Zerodha towards this phenomenal success.

Innovate and cashflow. I began my journey with zerodha. The kamath brothers never advertised but spread by word of mouth and new features. Advertising can get you customers but not maintain them as they get more serious.

Disagree about the thumbnail part. They do the job.
But I really agree with the skits critic. I get that they're trying to stand out by doing it but I find it really unfunny and as a hindrance.
I mentioned the thumbnails because videos which are of subpar quality are doing better than these well versed and excellently edited videos. IMO most of their thumbnails are repulsive.

So basically zerodha reduced the brokerage charges to Rs. 20 but took the charges to open demat and yearly maintenance where others were giving free. Umm... Nice strategy

Eh, kinda disagree. Sure it helps, that they don't have to spend on user acquisition, and that helps filter out the 'non-serious' traders. But they had first movers advantage; they had almost zero competition during the beginning and luckily they didn't exploit it and delivered a pretty good service, which helped with referrals. If they started now/started when they had more serious competition, they'd probably have needed VC funds for user acquisition (Nithin said it himself IIRC), which probably would've also impacted their user demographic and bottom line.
