As for the prosecutor? Lol she was voted out of office and apparently had had multiple cases of hers be investigated and overturned. She now works at a private law firm. That whole city is corrupt.

      Well well well...January 2014 FOX NEWS 2 were the ones responsible for getting the retrial of the case. THERE! For all the liberals and general nutcases out there THIS goes to show that FOX gets to the bottom of everything! For 2 years FOX has been talking about the Hunter Biden laptop and ALL the MSM called it a conspiracy theory and a flat out LIE. NOW CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS are finally talking about it! America and the Western World it is time to WAKE UP! The news has been lying to you for years, especially the last TWO years. I've been watching the Mini-Series and decided to lookup this interview and was shocked that NBC acknowledged FOX as he ones that exposed this story and I just couldn't help myself by commented. Everyone needs to start reading and watching different NON MSM stations. I'm not saying FOX isn't one of the because Disney owns them and has since March 19th 2019. The Gateway Pundit pretty good if you're looking to expand your information...or possibly lack thereof. You be surprised at what you don't know which is scary as hell. Sorry to go on a rant but it's kind of hard not too because FOX really should have made the Series as they were the ones that broke it BUT because NBC is in the same bed they were able to make it. Start reading Independent news.

    Not only should Renee get nominated for an Emmy but she should win it just like Charlize Theron captured the essence of that other woman who was murdering men in Monster. There are very few REAL actresses & those two are in that small group. The others are just movie stars, not much depth to their movies but earning a ton of money. Like I've said before, they only have to fart & they make $5,000.
    Also, some people are criticizing the series because it seems comical or exaggerated, but Pam was that way. Just goes to show you how delusional narcissists can manipulate anyone. And if there's one in your life, you're living in a mental hell.

    I remember watching this case on Dateline and watching over her police interviews and I am ASTOUNDED at how the cops dropped the ball on this one. I don't understand the negative reviews about the show. The way I see it, the reason for the "comedic portrayal" is to showcase how ridiculous and theatrical Pam Hupp was as a person and to portray herself as this so called victim, completely undermining people's intelligence and knowledge. The fact that she went so long as a free woman must have been rewarding in itself for her. Once she felt the heat, she couldn't keep up.

      I think that is because they wanted it to feel like how things went in real life. I keep reading comments on the same line, and I think people are missing the point. The show starts with Hupp telling her own story. She's a narcissist, so everything is self-aggrandizing and even ridiculous and incongruous at times, just like her version of events and her statements to the police.
      As the story unravels we get to see the story from a different perspective, which is even mentioned in one of the following episodes: Hupp's story is being told by someone else and the facade starts to fall.

    I love how in the show she's referred to as "a nice lady", because, yes, narcissists present themselves as very nice people. "Being nice" doesn't equal being a good person.
    It's part of their manipulation. They're so "nice" and helpful, and always there for you, but then they use that against you to mess you up emotionally (like in that scene when Betsy is DJing) or to gaslight you. When someone "really nice" flips and uses your trauma or insecurities to tear you down (specially when then they see you "happy"), run in the opposite direction.
    Not all narcissists are murderers, but they can really f*ck up your life.

    I think they chose to depict this story as a dark comedy based on the outlandish way Pam presented herself and the way her witness testimony was ever-changing. At least that's the way I interpreted it as. Almost as if to say, "can you believe the audacity of this woman to have so many inconsistencies, and yet the prosecuting attorney and the local police dept. ate it all up as though it was gospel truth?" You really gotta wonder how so many people could be so gullible about something so blatent. Anyways, they had Russ pegged as the perpetrator from the word go, and worked the evidence to fit their agenda, as opposed to objectively looking at all angles. But it was ultimately Askey's tunnel vision that led this to trial, as she saw the opportunity to gain the notoriety to win her election.

It was a clear miscarriage of justice and I’m glad he got a retrial and was released. It didn’t help that some of the wife’s family/friends didn’t have have nice things to say about him, they painted him out to be aggressive and violent even though he had never laid a hand on her, they did argue a bit and the marriage was far from blissful but that was blown out of proportion. Unfortunately sometimes when prosecutors want to get a verdict quickly, they don’t care who goes down, once they have a target on someone they won’t accept any other possibilities and tunnel vision happens.

    If the guy who calls the police says the dead woman committed suicide and only describes the most obvious wounds, then when it turns out the dead woman has dozens of stab wounds, that's evidence the guy didn't murder the woman. If he stabbed her dozens of times he obviously wouldn't have used a lie that she committed suicide. Nevertheless, the investigators took his statement as proof of his guilt. 😒 This is a really troubling story. I hate to think of how many innocent people are in prison.

    I don’t think the series makes light of the situation. Possibly Keith Morrison’s narration gives it a somewhat mocking overtone but Pam herself was an evil clown- making up brain injury so she gave rambling answers, literally skipping out of the courtroom after retaining Betsy’s life insurance money, etc. I just wonder if Russ and his stepdaughters ever had an opportunity to reconnect and reconcile.

    • @daniellemisin4049
      @daniellemisin4049 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the ruined relationship between Russ and his stepdaughter is almost as sad as the murder itself. In the Dateline episodes (most recent), it looks like the hurt feelings may keep a reconciliation impossible. And I can’t blame Russ for feeling that way. I hope time will heal the pain and someday they can reconcile.
