Yes it helps to preheat the wood. The closer you are to spontaneous combustion temperature, the more efficient it will burn. Granted, I wouldn't heat it to that degree, but you'll get a more efficient fire by warming the wood first.
    Great video Sir! 👈👍

Use canola oil or tallow on the hinges, never WD40

All I can think is those houses look like Delco. I'm in Springfield, looking to get a 250gal Primitive Pits too!

Definitely a Delco backdrop. Sounds like he was born and raised.

If you cut your wood splits shorter, you'll get even less dirty smoke. If you'll notice, the ends of logs are alway the most likely part to be smoldering. So by cutting them short (half the length of what you have now), the entire log will burn more evenly, including the ends. I think believe it was a Tuffy Stone video that I saw him talking about this. Wish I could link it for you.

How’s your pit run for long cooks? I’m thinking of putting a deposit on a primitive 250 ASAP but would like to hear from an owner.

Love that you’re like “...is charcoal cheating? F**k you...” Exactly! Don’t beat down others for doing something different. We’re all just enjoying the experience our own way. I’m know I’m behind, but congrats on the smoker. I’ve got a Workhorse 1969 on order (Primitive Pits sister company). Can’t wait! And watching your videos is helping me get prepared. Enjoy the smoke.
