So what do you do with your ashes and grease drippings when you clean your pit? I used to dump my stuff in the woods at my old house, but I have moved to a new home where there aren’t any woods in my back yard for dumping my ashes or grease.
With the ashes I put them in a metal trash can and then from time to time I add them to the garden but you have to be careful with that too because it will bring up the PH in the soil. Otherwise I bag them a week later and put in the trash. The grease is a pain I normally try to heat the bottom and move it to the drain and catch as much as I can and trash it too. Then I power wash the rest out.
I was thinking about it! I didn’t really intend to do all these videos lol I just could never find any on this pit when I was looking to buy it so I figured id just do them! I might use the other one to kind of compare them it’s smaller and also reverse flow!
@@jcbbq7468 I ended up putting some tallow in mine and wiping it down. I wasn’t sure about the leftover ash creating rust. I’m sure it’ll burn off next time. If you haven’t experienced rust with ashes on the sides or anything, that’ll save me 5 minutes 😄
Good stuff I have not heard before. Thank you for helping with the longevity of my new pit.
Very good and useful recommendations!!!

In the background, I see you have a Lang Smoker (as do I). Do you do the same Boiled Linseed Oil treatment on it as well?
Yes I do. It works very well and brings back a shine to the black color.
I see another smoker in the background maybe do a cook on that one too?

How thick is the steel on this pit?
Do you wipe out the firebox with Pam or anything?
Not the inside of the firebox… I don’t think anything would really hold up to the heat

question whats the height on your pit?
Sorry I just saw this what height do you want to know? From the ground to the top of the smoker or from the deck to the top of the smoker?
@@jcbbq7468 from the deck to smoker.
